My partner and I had booked and paid for a stay at Cabot Shores, but had to cancel due to the Covid-19 crisis. Although it was short notice, and outside of the cancellation policy, Judy and Paul were so understanding and refunded us fully. They were so friendly and made sure we had all the information we needed up to the point of needed to cancel. We can't wait to stay with them another time!

Property's Favorite Review
There aren’t enough words to describe the wonder of this place. Four friends and I spent a weekend in the green chalet, every minute knowing that we were in paradise. My two cavalier King Charles dogs enjoyed it too. We did a self led yoga session in the new activity centre, cooked our own meals in the chalet, but enjoyed a special birthday meal in the lodge. This place has everything anyone would want...peace, nature, privacy, beauty, terrific staff...and so much more. I can’t possibly pick a favourite place in Cape Breton...there are too many...but this places close to the top.

Amazing lot. Lodge is super cozy. Really nice snowshoeing that tours around the property. Amazing food! Mongolien yurts were really authentic and cool! The lodge/chalets with hot tubs seemed nice too! Will definitely come back! Hopefully with a group next time and we can rent a big chalet!

We are from Cape Breton and have stayed here twice. The location is awesome during summer months ... but recently stayed in the winter for our engagement booked the big red yurt .. online “bathrooms are next to it” I wouldn’t advertise bathrooms if they are closed(a big poop in a frozen toilet isn’t a nice to see folks btw) food was disgusting and it was our second time giving it a go. Overall nice location but if you want 200$ a night you should at least have accessible washrooms near by. Also we rushed to get ready for checkout time and to pay our snowshoe rental but no one was there other than the dog... causmo was shaking and crying. We let him out to pee after he had relieved himself it was very obvious he was alright .We waited for 30minutes. No one came I will never stay again I felt horrid leaving with my dogs wondering when someone else would let causmo out

Response from Paul W, Owner at Cabot Shores Wilderness Resort and Retreat

We apologize for lack of clarity on the bathrooms. Probably you used the yurt bath house (with 2 outdoor showers, l indoor, sink and toilet) during warmer weather. During winter, the pipes are drained and the doors are usually locked. Apparently they weren't, so that will happen and we will add signs. The lodge with 3 washrooms is about a 2 minute walk from the Red Yurt. The Red Yurt is pet friendly and we see that you obviously love dogs. Our dog, Cosmo, has a great life here. He is taken early morning on hikes/walks in summer and along snowshoe trails in winter. He also goes with us in kayaks, canoes and stand up paddle boards. We had been traveling and surprised staff didn't check you out either night before or that morning. Also, our Bistro gets great reviews and sorry you didn't like the food. If you read this, please accept a free dinner on us to change your mind.

Great place for a get away. Everything is wonderful there; staff is funny/friendly, food is fantastic, music is grooving, rooms/yurts/domes are great for couples, hiking is all around you with swim spots and yoga and ....
