Arrived at 11am, website shows opening time as 7am and Open Today board at the front of the car park. I asked if they were open for a coffee. A female member of staff told me they weren’t open until 11.30 and she walked away. A more professional response might be, ‘we’re not open until 11.30 but have a seat in the garden and I’ll be with you as soon as I can.’ We won’t return.
My steak burger was a lukewarm weird slither of pale strangely textured brown meat that looked nothing like either a steak or a burger and tasted like neither. Minute portion of lukewarm chips. Management weren't interested in the fact that I found the 'burger' inedible. The creme brulee was nice but a tiny portion for £7.25. Poor coffee. I certainly won't be back.
Its nice looking place but expensive and the food is not good enough for the money that you pay for. Fish was oily , chips were brownish and cheap old potato, lamb way tiny portion for £15 !!! Seriously!
Visited after a very poor experience at the Marquess of Exeter along the road. OWH was complete opposite. Busy, but very friendly staff, lovely bear (Spring Ale), nice atmosphere. So much better than the competition🌝
I think 100 essentials must be reviewing a different establishment ! My wife and I stayed here with two friends last week and our opinion was the exact opposite to what 100 essential thought. The room was very comfortable, nice double bed, nice linen etc and the en-suite was enormous with roll top bath, and hand shower, and also a walk in shower. The staff could not have been nicer. Breakfast was all that could have been expected with a large choice. Dinner, although the same menu each night gave plenty of choice. As for the comment about lack of Covid precautions, that is rubbish, face masks were worn by all the staff, social distancing was being observed and track an trace. 100essencial, if you you gave your name address, phone number when you booked in, which I assume you did, that I think is sufficient for track and trace. However better still is to scan the QR sign. We found no problems at all and if we’re in the area again we will definitely stay here again. Highly recommended .…
