We stayed here for a night as we worked our way south from Rausu on a ten day trip of Hokkaido. The hotel is huge and in many ways impersonal, with the staff lacking some of the charm of traditional Japanese hospitality. They are however helpful and efficient. The reception space may affect this as it is has no real warmth.... More

This is a good base for exploring Lake Kussharo and Masshu, with a fabulous view of the caldera lake from your room. Unfortunately it's somewhat spoiled by the officiousness of the place. There are so many rules, explained in massive detail during an unnecessarily compicated check in process. There are signs everywhere telling you what NOT to do. The onsen... More

We stayed at 5 different hotels during our road trip through Eastern Hokkaido. The staff at Prince Hotel Kussharo stood out as being the least friendly. The attitude was unlike other Japanese hospitality staff. There were no good mornings, hello, welcome nor thank you after making our payment. Not even a smile. I'd recommend staying elsewhere if you prefer friendlier... More

What a dream of a hotel. A wonderful welcome, fabulous room with a view to die for. A panoramic view of Lake Kussharo in all it's splendour, with a backdrop of snowclad mountains. Bar area beautifully appointed, but sadly the menu was not up to the standard of the bar, whilst the restaurant was a little expensive. Breakfast menu could... More

Beautiful Hotel , well run and stunning views of the Harbour and surrounds. Tall building, breathtaking views make this a wonderful place to stay in quiet Kusshiro. 30 Minutes away from the Tancho viewing sites .

I attended a therapy festival for some therapeutic treatment, combination and spa treatment made my stay even more relaxing and comfortable. Fortunately there were some vacancies and my room was upgraded to the one at higher floor and I enjoyed the nice view of the lake and snow capped hills in the morning after first snow at the end of... Nice room but if you don't have your own wheels you face a 4200 yen buffet dinner each night (it is OK). Breakfast is good however the aircon didn't work at all so we sweltered through 26.1 at night- they did provide a fan to stir the heat around. Biggest surprise was the 600 yen "bath tax" at departure after... More

We reached the hotel quite late in the evening. When we entered our spacious ,in Japanese standard, room it was dark outside . We saw ourselves , not an outside view from window. After turning off all the room lights , the great view of the lake and surounding appeared .

The entrance is the same as in a very large train station. The rooms are totally cold. No interest at all. It has nothing from a 4 stars hotel. Just the lake view is nice, at least from the rooms of the 8th floor. No wifi in the rooms, only in the lobby.

Plus: Superb view from the window very spacious room; baby`s cot (not a standard in Japan); 500 yen voucher to the restaurant/convenient store located at the hotel; breakfast was OK; free wi-fi at the lobby We cannot and do not complain about anything in particular. The location is somewhat remote but since we were heading to Shiretoko, we did not... More
