Wonderful staff at this family run hotel centrally located in Interlaken. Comfortable rooms and breakfast cooked-to-order in the mornings. Quiet neighborhood with plenty of restaurants. Close to Interlaken West train station and ferry terminal. You'll only regret having to leave.
Booked two nights as a solo traveller in early August and ended up adding a third night. Well located just five minutes walk from Interlaken West station. Friendly welcome, comfortable room, good breakfast (though not automatically included in the price), and good value especially when you consider the price of some other hotels in the Interlaken area. External bathroom took a bit of getting used to but it was still a private facility and I knew that was the case before I booked. A great base for exploring the wider region and would happily stay there again.
If you are feeling stressed because of the Covid-19 pandemic and the effects of the restrictions, then I would recommend a stay at the Rössli Hotel in Unterseen for a calming of the nerves and the restoration of your sanity. This cosy friendly hotel is located in a quiet area, an easy five minute walk from Interlaken West railway station/Bus/boat interchange from where you can explore the many beautiful attractions of the Bernese Oberland. Christopher and Nadine the owners, plus their multilingual ever pleasant reception staff, Sandy and Vilma will do their best to ensure you have a pleasant and productive stay. They will help you plan your excursions and can provide tickets for all local trips that are now open again. Sandy was particularly patient in helping me sort out an online health form required by the Spanish authorities for my return journey. My very clean simply furnished room had multi-channel TV, shower/toilet, very comfy bed, plenty of electrical sockets including USB charger ports and a free room safe. To conform to Swiss Covid-19 requirements you could request daily room cleaning if required from their efficient staff. Breakfasts were varied and plentiful with cereals, breads, toast, croissants, fresh fruit, yoghurts, jams, boiled eggs, cold meats, cheeses, extra yummy scrambled eggs and bacon plus cold fruit drinks. Tea or coffee was served at your suitably socially distanced table. Because of the Bern government directives regarding Covid-19 many of the previous excellent facilities such as the multi-lingual library, TV room with DVD’s, children’s play area and kitchen are no longer available for guests. However, the hotel has made available a microwave cooker and a small range of utensils for guest use in the ground floor lounge where you can also find free 24 hr tea/coffee making facilities. They also provide hand sanitiser points, they request that social distancing be observed and the reception area is screened to protect staff and guests, though masks are discretionary. I must say that despite these restrictions the homely and family friendly nature has not been lost at the Rössli and Christopher, Nadine and their staff are devoted to making your stay as pleasant and stress less as possible. Jean Louis periodically calls by to speak with the many returning guests and I have no hesitation in recommending this excellent 2* hotel to those who are perhaps apprehensive of leaving home at present. One of the advantages of travelling at this time is that it is fairly quiet and the lack of crowds can be a bonus when accessing many of the local beauty spots. Be aware that there is still a requirement to wear face masks on public transport in Switzerland and social distancing is expected in queues, shops and cafes etc. Thanks again for another excellent stay, I will be back.…
I am not too picky but this hotel definitely disappointed me, straight from the point of check-in till I left for good. Stayed for 2 nights, spoiled my Interlaken stay with the rude behavior of the people running it and extremely run down position of the hotel. Few things, you make a cup of coffee in the common room, you wash your cups yourself. If you have a problem in the room, like broken window, so that is your problem not theirs. You need to hold the button of elevator as long as you are in it, else it will stop. A separate key is given to you, so that you can enter inside the hotel, after it is closed in night. Breakfast options are very limited, incase you are a vegetarian, you are in for a trouble. Since it is an old hotel the corridors get very noisy because of the wooden flooring. Above all the reception staff, you seriously don't want to deal with them. After talking to them it does not feel that you are a guest and they are running a hotel, but you think you are in a Hostel and all the staff people are the Wardens, who time and again just repeat, what to do what not to do inside the hotel. Location is on Interlaken West, close to the Railway Station, that I believe is the only positive it had.…
This place is a gem. The staff were so friendly and welcoming with me. I always felt like I could ask them for anything. Multiple languages are spoken with no problem. Rooms are simple, clean, and cozy, making you feel almost like you rented a cabin. They offered a range of rooms with different price points, but I had no issue with the budget room. Breakfast is tasty and plentiful, with a lot of different options and the staff asking you what else you might like. There are multiple common areas, including a TV room with a big selection of movies, and an extra dining room where you can come get tea or coffee any time you like and either chat with someone or read something--they have a library and also get several newspapers. The founder took time to sit with me and ask me about my travels, and he also recommended a scenic walk in the area which turned out to be beautiful. This personal touch really added to my experience and helped me enjoy Interlaken even more. The hotel's location in Unterseen is great: it allows easy access to the Interlaken West train stop and the main street of the Interlaken area, yet it is just far enough off the main drag that you can avoid the noise and crowds downtown and have some peace and quiet. The hotel Roessli is a really refreshing alternative to the chain hotels. When I go back to Interlaken, this is where I'm staying.…
