The 4-star traditional apartments lie on a hillside overlooking Archanes & Youhtas sacred mountain. This original Cretan mansion was built in 1890 and was renovated during 2000 and 2015. The foundations of this old house, its stone walls (60-80cm thick), its frame and woodwork have remained intact. We have tried to respect and preserve the architectural arrangement of the apartments and all other spaces using old building materials to obtain all the amenities that are necessary for a comfortable accommodation, attractively restored into just 6 exclusive apartments. It is an alternative proposal of vacation, for people showing sensitivity for nature, relaxation, exercise, nutrition with pure local products, entertainment and communication with the local people, and time for reflection.

The location is great to explore Knossos and surrounding area of Heraklion. It is away from the busy city. It is a quite oasis of calm. The apartment is simply beautiful. The village of Archanes is easy to access by bus from Heraklion for 1.90€ and the bus will take you to Knossos as well. So all in all a perfect location and a lost beautiful oasis of calm. A real Gem.

We stayed in Villa Archanes for the duration of our three day stay in Archanes in August. Upon arrival we were greeted with soft drinks and delicious local grapes by our incredibly welcoming host who also provided us with recommendations on which local restaurants to visit. We made note of the recommendations and were incredibly glad that we did (Zen of Crete was a particular highlight).
We were shown to our apartment which had a lovely view of the mountains and some complementary Raki. The apartment was spotless, spacious and had incredibly comfy beds! Before venturing out to eat, we made use of the seating area outside which overlooks the stunning pool and the beautiful plants.
Of all the accommodation we stayed in during our two-week trip around Crete, this was the most memorable and I would definitely stay again.

Stayed for 2 nights during a recent road trip in Crete.
This was very "different" accommodation ( but in a good way!). The apartments are rustic and built on the site of old farm.
They are simply furnished but have everything you need for a comfortable stay and there is plenty of room ( ours had 3 bedrooms) so suitable for a group of people.
The main bedroom was was accessed using some very steep stairs which would not be suitable for anyone who has difficulty walking and the bathroom is downstairs.
Friendly welcome from the staff and the apartments are set around a nice pool.
Easy downhill walk to the centre of Archanes which is a foodie heaven.

We went with my family because of a wedding at Archanes. We only stayed for one night and we regret it. The rooms where nice and clean. We found nothing missing from the rooms and it was well organized. The staff was super friendly and I will try to repeat my visit again. The children really enjoyed the pool and the fact that the yard was closed helped to not be afraid of losing any of the kids.

Such a gracious host. We had an unfortunate event with our ferry ride into Crete and arrived at 1am instead of 5pm. The owner kept in contact with us the whole evening and greeted us with a smile (and Raki!) at 1am. He also served us a little sweet that his mother handmade. Its a beautiful historic charming stay in a breathtaking hillside village. It is not far from Knossos Palace.

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Archanes. We had a two bedroom villa which had plenty of space for two couples and a baby. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was fantastic and set us up for days of exploring the area. We would definitely stay again!

We were there in early October and loved it. The room was very comfortable and simply but elegantly furnished. It's very quiet and about about a ten minute walk to the square where there is a good choice of restaurants. Vasilis takes great care about the comfort of his guests and is most helpful with his advice. We took the optional breakfast (10 euros) which was delicious and so filling that we did not even think about lunch. It included a variety of delicious Cretian pies. We would definitely go back.

I almost NEVER stay in hotels and definitely will NOT do all inclusives. I say this to get it out of the way. The Villa Arachanes is a jewel. The host could not be more meticulous about maintaining the rooms. The value is outstanding. The location could not be more quaint. You get a glimpse into life in a little village on a Greek Isle. You need a car to explore the island but not to get around the little town. Although the Villa is up on a hill and you have a 10 minute walk to the village square. The rooms are spacious. The beds are excellent. The WiFi was good. The pool is fantastic.
I highly recommend this lovely B&B you will not regret your stay in this gem!
