The Leyre Monastery has an accommodation wing with excellent facilities. This is still a working monastery which had 15 monks and two novices. Their area is off limits and there is no contact with them. However, you are welcome to come into the basilica for their services and listen to their chanted services. We were at the 7pm service. There... More

The hotel is attached to a working Benedictine monastery, one well known for the beauty of its Gregorian chant. All are welcome at the offices and the abbey church is beautiful. The hotel itself is modern but architecturally fits in perfectly with the rest of the buildings. Very reasonably priced, accommodation very good and the restaurant very good value for... More

One would expect that a monastery is built with thick brick walls, however in our room every word of the people next door was understandable. This is a no go for us and we would never ever recommend this hotel to people who need silence for sleeping. The room was nice though and the staff helpful and friendly. But if... More

This is a beautiful place in a great location. We had a one night stay at the end of our tour before catching the ferry home from Bilbao. The rooms are clean and modern. We had a very quiet peaceful night. We took a look around the monastery and listened to the monks chanting in the church - very beautiful... More

On checking-in we were informed that we were the only guests that evening so had the hotel to ourselves. Luckily the restaurant was going to open regardless as there are no other options nearby. Comfortable room with views of the monastery. Definitely go and listen to the monks chant at one of the allowed times.

Quiet comfortable hotel room. Very pretty surroundings. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff. (good English) Wifi worked in our room, but not in others based on an overheard conversation. Dinner was a bit pricey for the quality, but portions were great and service very helpful. They have more than 1 menu. Hotel guests get a cheaper in price and ingredient selection... More

Located in the hills above Lesa, this was a unique treat. Rooms were spotless and the restaurant was very good. Plenty of safe parking outside was available. The bar was open early enough to sit and enjoy the scenery while waiting for dinner. Definitely a good value.

The church entrance is both amusing and mysterious. The Vespers are sung by monks in Latin. The restaurant has a very nice headwaiter and the meals are reasonably priced. The rooms are more than adequate (if you don't mind not having a TV). Many local sites (Castillo Javier, Foz de Lumbier, etc.) make this a great place to spend a... More
