Stayed at the Derby arms for one night. Very charming and comfortable, cosy bar and restaurant where we had a very nice meal would definitely return. Location good for walks and a handy shop next door.

It's very important for me to go to a dog friendly pub and thankfully around Cumbria there are quite a few unlike the east Midlands where I live. Over the course of the weeks holiday in Cumbria I had 3 burgers and the one at the Derby Arms was by far the best. It really did taste home made and... More

My wife and I wanted a good stopping of point on the way from Wales to the Lakes District and the Derby Arms turned out to be a good choice. It was just of the main road in a rural setting yet very close to Grange Over Sands. We didn't know what to expect but found Grange Over Sands to... More

Staff were very friendly and helpful going as far as offering to make a packed lunch as we were leaving before breakfast. Food reasonably priced and very tasty especially the Steak & Alex pie which was delicious, word of warning though, it sells out very quickly.

The pub is on the Bay Cycle Way and is ideal as a stop-over. We had two nights there and found the food to be of good value and quality which explained why the pub was busy with diners. The range and quality of beers justifies the pub's entry in the "2016 Good Beer Guide". Our room was comfortable and... More

Had a lovely evening staying here, the restaurant was fully booked so we went elsewhere but means it must be good! Pub was very dog friendly and the room was fresh and well decorated if a little on the small side. Breakfast was quickly served and not greasy at all. Highly recommended.

Ideal location for visiting races about 15mins away. Our room in pub was small but clean with everything we needed apart from place to hang our clothes. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. We stayed in pub for our evening meal and it was really good with an excellent bottle of wine. Breakfast was ok but a bit limited.... More

We were travelling with our dog and were made very welcome at the Derby Arms. This community owned, but privately managed pub has had much love and hard restoration work in the past few years and both the feeling of a local pub and the very well decorated comfortable clean rooms made it a great place to stay. Breakfast was... More

Good food, comfortable large room with enormous ensuite bathroom, but would have liked a proper walk in shower, not just a hose in the huge roll top bath! But good value at £40 B&B. Had a good bar meal in the pub.

This is the worst place I have ever stayed. We arrived and the chef was ill so there was no food available. The door wouldn't even close properly to our room. The floors were dirty, the bed covers and towels were all stained. There were holes and the walls and the soap dispensers were covered in dirt and grunge. There... More
