We visited the Derby Arms for lunch during our recent trip to Cumbria. After cycling for a couple of hours, we decide to take a break and get a bite to eat. The Derby Arms was inviting with the service being fast and friendly. The food was delicious and the beer was cold. We could have stayed longer but we... More

Selected as being dog-friendly. It definitely was. Walks nearby help make the stay easier. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good and varied. Drink choice quite good. Room comfy, functional

We just spent a few days at The Derby Arms. The staff are warm and friendly. The food is second to none, do not miss out on the homemade mushroom soup! The room was perfect well furnished with an extremely comfortable bed, so much so we missed breakfast! Lol. There are live bands and fortnightly Burger Nights. It is situated in... More

We stayed here on a Saturday night. It was lively as we expected it to be and we found this enjoyable. We could find no justification for some of the previous scathing comments about this place on trip advisor. It's a rustic pub, in the Lake District and it's extremely good value for money at £65 per room including a... More

Just an overnight stop off for our onward trip South down M6, but what a lovely stay we had. Very warm welcome from staff - who were extremely friendly and helpful. Found the place to be clean throughout. Loved the roll top bath. Food very good. Best if all is that the place is DOG FRIENDLY! Quite difficult to find... More

We visited this pub as it was just down the road from where we were staying. Having visited before we were looking forward to lovely food & a warm welcome. What a surprise !!! It was dirty, dim &'horrible. Our table was pushed up against a dirty dusty curtain, there were 3 or 4 locals at the bar practicing their... More

Great location for a stop on our way to Scotland. Lovely nature reserve just up the lane to walk the dog in. All but the restaurant is dog friendly, which is great. Dinner was a bit on the average side and the room was fine. Our nights sleep was ruined by some drunk couple in the room next door getting... More

We stayed here on 9th September 2016, very nice pub with good food, very comfortable bed and a nice size room. The only minor issue was that the bathroom wasn't as clean as it could be, the shower was a bit grubby around the door, but overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend!
