We had such a great experience in South Africa with Ekala tours. We were greeted like old friends and presented with an in-depth educational tour of Johannesburg that our 2 children will never forget! Accommodations and dining were great. If you want an authentic look at the culture, history and politics of the region, this is the tour company for you. Huge thanks to Ekala for a special vacation.

Ekala Guest Farm is outside of Johannesburg in the middle of the countryside. It's a relaxing place to stay, especially when doing a tour with Ekala (see also my separate tour review - highly recommend). Janet, Linda and Macolm are very welcoming. The guesthouse is very welcoming, everything is very clean, there is a lovely swimming pool and plenty of delicious home cooking. For me the best thing were the conversations and learning so much about South Africa. Thank you!

It was our third time with Linda, Janet, Malcom and "dogs". Very warm welcome, same spacious well-equipped room with very nice few. Phantastic sundowner and appetizer on the terrace. Excellent and typical South African food cooked by Linda ! Followed by nice talks and interesting conversations. This time we visited Pilanesberg guided by Janet. Equipped with picnic baskets filled with delicious delicacies we started to an unforgettable safari ! We will come again for sure !

Had an occasion to use this guest house during a recent tour in South Africa. Location is in the rural suburbs of Johannesburg - away from the conjestion of the city but still convenient to airports and major tourist venues. The facility and accommodations were outstanding - well appointed individual rooms and spacious dining and common rooms. Meal service featured good cuisine of considerable variety. Overall, though, I was most pleased with the friendly and always-responsive staff. The family managing this property - Malcolm, Janet, and Linda were always available to answer and meet any of my individual needs. The Ekala Guest Farm turned out to be an excellent base for my customized, solo tour; I would highly recommend it for individuals, couples, or small groups wanting to experience this region of South Africa.
