The most incredible experience Beauty, exquisite surroundings, the most beatiful sunsets, great service made our stay remarkable. Christopher and his team are the most wonderful people, go out if their sat to make our stay the best it could possibly be. We felt like at home from the moment we arrived. Hope you are all here when we come back. Thank you!❣️
First step was a donkey came to collect our suitcases which was horrible and felt mean. At the end of our stay we ran downstairs with our bags ourseleves so we didn't have to use the donkey again. The hotel is weird, on the website it describes the hotel evening resturant and in room dining, but when i asked about this on check-in i was very rudely told that there is no resturant on site. Weird. The room was nice but big buuilding works next door meant that at 8am we were greeted with the noise of donkey hooves on our ceiling lugging building supplies up and down the stairs. I found the staff pretty rude, aside from the smiley cleaner. Check in staff were surly and when i saw her again she was yelling very publicly to the man cleaning the pool and i felt like they thought they were too good for us. Not worth it. Stay somewhere else.…
It is a beautiful mansion build in the 1870's by French architecture. It is very impressive until the moment you start to peer into the details. I don’t know how hotels in Greece get 5 star status, but I’m absolutely sure that any shack can call itself a luxury hotel here in Santorini, the island with such high demand among tourists all over the world. Unfortunately, it is a very common situation here in Santorini where the hotels do not correspond to the status and value in which they position themselves on the sales channel or in social networks. I consider it simply necessary to write this review, so that everyone who is going to spend their holidays in Santorini could choose a hotel relying on actual reviews and do not believe to those photos that have been taken 15 years ago. In addition, to the beauty of the mansion itself, the authenticity of the village with its rich historical past, stunning views and good nearby restaurants, this hotel has nothing to pay 200- 500 euros per night. It could be 3 star hotel with the average price 120Euros depending on the season and the room type of course. I feel very sad that beautiful property in possession of such terrible owners who have no idea how to run the business. This hotel could be really piece of hospitality art. …
Zannos Melathron hotel was on top of the mountain. It took around 10 minutes to claim up. The view is just the city lights at night, during the day, there is no much of a view. The hotel is very clean and the staff are very friendly. The breakfast was fantastic. However, the hotel rooms itself are caves, there is no ventilation in the toilet. They did not have a shower area but an antique bath tab with no shower curtains, so the whole toilet floor filled with water when you shower. The water did not go down the drain, as the floor was flat and did not have a bit of slop for the water to go down the drain, and of course, there is no window so the water cannot dry. It was a bit of a mass I almost fall twice, but we managed. In one of the other room, there was a long tunnel on top of the bed with a window at the top area to stay in Santorini is Fira, where everything is around, shops, restaurants, and sea view. If you want the view then you have Oia, but very expensive, or Imerovigli. The area that we stayed in, Pyrgos, is a mountain area. The public transportation is a bit slow and from one bus to another you need to wait for a minimum of an hour and they run until 11:00pm only. They also have very few taxis and you need to wait for a while until you get one.…
We had our honeymoon ruined! We’ve book a honeymoon suite with panoramic pool that of course was not what we got once we arrived there. The room was over 500 euros/ night with no room service at all. No cleaning, the towels were old and terrible. The shower in our bathroom was dirty. The pillows were horrible. There we’re cockroach and dead flies on the breakfast room area. Last night the air conditioner crashed and no solution was provided. The hot water is coming from just one center boiler in a different building, so to have a hot shower we would take more than 15 min waiting for the water to come. A waist of water. We asked for a honest 50% refund but received no answer from the management. Don’t waist your money and time there.
Definitely not a luxury hotel. False advertising. No air conditioning. No Manager. Poor location. Stay away. At the top of a hill. No help with out luggage. Limited staff. Incorrect room. Stay in Oia.
Expecting a luxury hotel, we were really disappointed by the junior suite room, accommodation and staff which don’t match 5 stars at all. Maximum 3 stars. Humidity in room was around 80% and more. No Windows with direct light. Old door and window, which let hear all sounds round the hotel (people talking, dogs, even the donkey walking...) We should have a dinner included, but no restaurant at the hotel. Breakfast was good but limited in choice. Swimming pool is cold and small, no jacuzzi, (only private or semi private for big suite), no spa... We were really disappointed for the price we paid. The location of the hotel is pretty good, with a good view and in the center of the island. Restaurants around are quite good.
I rarely leave comments on this website, but today I am afraid I have to. After a couple of weeks travelling across the neighbouring islands, we wanted to finish our holidays in a 5-star hotel in Santorini and we paid 365€ for that last night. Had I known what was expecting us, I would not have paid a 100€! In appearance everything looked good: the beautiful dominant location (hence the many stairs to climb), the warm welcome, the inspiring main building, the view from the… But first, we were informed upon arrival that the spa was not operational, which is a real pity because we picked up that hotel for its spa. We were told the massage service was however still available, but when we asked to book a massage, we realised there was no qualified staff working at the hotel and then they could not find anyone after a few phone calls. That alone deserved a discount. The swimming pool is cute, the water fresh, but it’s much too small: with only 8 lounge chairs it's easily packed, and there were no clean towels for us. Once we walked in our suite, we noticed the mud in our private jacuzzi, the dirty floors in the entire bedroom, the stains in the toilets (unheard of!). But that was just the beginning: the bed was made, but with used linen! The towels were folded, but with stains on them! So no, it was not that they forgot to clean the room: they hoped we wouldn't have noticed! The mini bar was empty (not even a bottle of water we would have gladly pay for, while the outside temperature is 40 degrees C and the tap water is not drinkable!). Oh, and as a last surprise, we discovered later in the day the absence of hot water in our bathroom (shower, bathtub and sink), no water pressure and one of the two sinks was clogged. I almost forgot the 3 large dogs from the neighbour barking early in the morning! Now, one good point: breakfast was good. Complaining resulted in automatic polite apologies, told without convictions, with little or no actions… Clearly the staff is used to the situation and what we went through seem to be a standard. I must say they do what they can despite an obvious lack of means/support from the owners; but making sure a bedroom is clean and ready before the guests check in is a basic step for any hotel, much more for a so-called 5-star hotel! We asked to be in touch with the owner and required a partial reimbursement: the message we got was “no reimbursement, turn to the booking website you used if you want to complain, Santorini is full of tourist so we are always fully booked anyway”. The staff only concern was: “Please don’t write on TripAdvisor!”. Well, sorry... It’s criminal to ruin someone’s holidays this way.
The Hotel is in Pyrgos, which is far from all the nightlife and noises (if you want luxury Santorini life and sunset views you should stay in Oia or Thera or Imerogevelli). Zannos Hotel is situated in a very quiet area and you can have a beautiful view from the top hill. However, you need to walk uphill to get to it which might be a little bit tiring to some. Our pieces of luggage were carried on Donkeys. I think every room's layout is different than the other. Our room was one that was built into the mountain like a cave. Ventilation was not so good (drainage/sewage was smelly). Wifi connection was extremely slow. Our shower was open, with no shower curtain nor a glass panel to hold back the splattering water. So the floors were slippery! There is also slight dampness/humidity in the air inside the rooms. So for those who cannot tolerate this time of environment maybe you should consider a more modern hotel. The best part was the simple yet tasty breakfast menu they had! Fresh Greek yogurt should not be missed, as well as the Omelet egg stuffed with delicious Feta cheese (yummy I am drooling now). Staff members were extremely helpful. Shops cafe's and restaurants are very close around in the allies (You shouldn't miss trying the cafes and restaurants out). There are warm Jacuzzies in every room, some are placed by the room's door so you can enjoy the jacuzzi by the doorstep of your room. The hotel is very nice because of the quietness surrounding it. However, for the Santorini views overlooking the sea and hotels marketed in the magazines and travelers please stay in Oia, Thera or Imerogevelli. We loved going to Thera for a wide variety of cuisine shops. The Weather was windy during our stay which made the wooden window panels make noise.…
This hotel market them selfs as a 5 star hotel. And their website is over 5 years old and there are new owners. Today they would be lucky if they managed 2 stars. No existing SPA, it’s gone! No wine cellar! The rooms are worse, totally worn down. Dirty beds, the furniture is probably picked up at a flee market! No minibar, no fruit as written, no nothing. It was dirty, stains all over the beds. We tried 2 rooms, hair in the showers, sink and dirt all over. We even had to kill cockroaches the first night that crawled all over the room. No ocean view except from might one room. The whole website is a fraud. Stay away, it’s a ripoff from the beginning to the end The night staff was nice and did his best. Cash even disappear from our room. This hotel should not be marketed on any website!! All guests that checked in the 30 hours we spent there left. It’s a sad that people like this can ruin people’s vacation.…
