Although we only stayed here for one night as attending daughters end of 5 year vet school ball, its location was ideal, weather was brilliant as was 30degrees, blue sky and sunshine and the view from our bay window from a refurbished room was stunning. Staff very friendly from the moment we got there to booking us a taxi and... More

The Jug and Bottle has tough competition up against the many trendy restaurant and bars, but it copes admirably. It offers a bistro/ bar environment with a lovely restaurant for those wanting something more formal. The menu offers high quality British fare, which is well cooked and presented. My misses had the pie, which is a portion far to generous... More

Positives first - the steak & mushroom pie was lovely, and all the veg was nicely cooked. Our waitress served us promptly and was friendly and knowledgeable. However, the Sunday roasts were very poor. Yorks puds had clearly been hanging around since lunch time (we ate at 5.30pm) as they shattered into a million pieces of dry cardboard. Pork crackling... Lovely little find on trip advisor! Dined at 6.30pm on Saturday for 4 people. The bacon cheeseburger was huge and came stacked with onion rings and an onion marmalade with home made chips and calslaw it was absolutely huge and was lovely, the fish and chips was a big hit too! Lovely atmosphere inside and nice bar area. All in... More

We did not know the area at all and allowed ourselves to be totally governed by reviews for our one night stay. Easy to find, great location in a really super area. It is not a big bustling hotel it is a historic, warm, friendly and charming place. We had a newly refurbished room which was really comfortable, very clean... More

Great food, and wonderful atmosphere. The chips are possibly the best chips I have had anywhere, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The place was clean and tidy, and the prices are reasonable for the quality you are receiving. Will be keen to return again and try the tea time menu.

Visited for a relaxed, informal lunch with a group of guys. Although quiet, the ambience was good and the service attentive without being obtrusive. Good range of meals and snacks. Served promptly and nice and hot. Good value for money. Liked the interesting pictures and photographs on the walls.

On arrival we were given a menu which had been made just for fathers day. There was a good range to choose from for each course. Service was very good and the food was of a high standard. Happy to recommend and would ve happy to return.
