If you want something different as a restaurant take the ferry from Fowey over to Portloe & back .The Lugger offers tasty food no frills but great pub atmosphere overlooking the harbour.More of a pub than a hotel

Our group of walkers was on a walk along the south west coast path in Cornwall from Falmouth to Looe. On the day we walked from Portscathoe to Portloe, the heavens opened. By the time we arrived at the Lugger we were drenched. They took our saturated shoes, bags and coats and dried them in the boiler room. We stayed... More

Stopped for an unscheduled lunch. Great location, good service without being stuffy, nice food. The rooms looked comfortable but impeccably clean in a contemporary but relaxed style in keeping with the coastal location. We will be staying next time!

For 'Classic' read 'Cheap & Cramped'. So tight for space that the tea facilities were in the wardrobe. The kettle was the cheapest available, smelling of plastic when boiled. The plumbing was noisy. The staff in the restaurant were excellent. The food was not. Stood for several minutes trying to check out, whilst the receptionist chatted with guests. Finally, needing... More

Portloe is one of the least changed villages along the coast. We arrived by walking and its beautiful site nestled in the valley. The lugger is very well kept, smart, clean, friendly, very nice dinner. Only small thing would be the cooked breakfast was not the best we had, the smoked salmon was yummy.

We had a fantastic two night stay at The Lugger. The setting is amazing and the hotel was excellent. The view from our room overlooking the harbour was unforgettable. There were plenty of great quality options for food and drink, and the staff were really attentive. Be prepared for the low ceilings!

We stayed here for a week at the beginning of September & loved it. The room (103) was comfortable with a lovely sea view. Watching the fishing boats leaving in the morning was a lovely start to the day. We ate in the restaurant 3 times & enjoyed the food very much. The staff were very friendly & accommodating. Portloe... More

We enjoyed a two night stay at this hotel which is situated in the quaint fishing village of Portloe. It is an excellent location for coast path walking, although transport links are non existent so you have to walk out and back. The room was comfortable and quiet with a super king size bed. There is a small fridge that... More

We wanted a short break for our anniversary, a special one for us. The requirements were: Good food and wine - success, a small restaurant in the main building looking straight into the cove. The meals are very well prepared and presented, wine choice is good and reasonable priced. Use the website to get an idea of the food on... More
