Used to come to this pub/Hotel back in the seventies and eighties so thought we would give it a try for a couple of drinks as it has a great location next to the river, thoughts of how it was in it's heyday where the place was busy with families and a great restaurant serving good food with a carvery... I'm not one to complain but the staff are rather rude, my room hasn't been serviced in 2 days, and I'm staying for 4 nights... I've had to ask for clean towels, tea, milk etc every day as well as clean towels, emptied my own bin and put it in the skip outside! The shower leaks all over the floor... More

Clean room (but the hall way smells badly of smoke as people are obviously smoking with the door open) with a nice view and a path to walk along the Thames. Hard to find anywhere to park or anyone to check you in or out as there isn't anyone on the main desk and the bar is busy. The rooms... More

This hotel is right by the waters edge and is ok to sit outside on a nice evening. I stayed here as it was a cheap night and on the way to my next place of work. The staff were very friendly, especially the girl behind the bar who was run off her feet but kept smiling and laughing it... More

I enjoyed the evening. The food, and was good. They could do with a few real ales. The staff were very attentive. I feel the hotel needs a bit of a makeover to bring it to a standard that it will attract families and visitors to the RSPB , Rainham Marsh and Purfleet itself.

5 of our engineers have stayed there and not one have complained to us about it being untidy or dirty. Pretty satisfied as the rooms are cheap and they have private bathrooms which make the hotel even better for people wqanting to stay. They also said the food is amazing!

Dirty, unkept, not maintained rooms, the mattresses are ancient and you can feel the springs massively, the bathroom was disgusting, just lazy or none existent cleaning, the doors have been smashed in and bodged fixed. We went to the bar area and there were drunk toothless truck drivers and a rancid homeless prostitute who was tapping everybody up. The bar... More

Listen, its a local Pub! contractors Hotel, its not the Savoy so don't expect it..but since 2013 from my last review standards are slowly improving, it is not a living room for the staff anymore, rules are in place where the customer comes first, Rooms are clean, food is reasonable, honestly if you want to commute to London and save...
