We went for a drink, we'd not been before and found ourselves feeling welcome despite not being locals. My only criticism is that the pew style seats were a little uncomfortable. We went mid week and were pleasantly surprised at how busy it became as the night went on.

We were visiting Castle Acre to see where my ancestors lived and booked here for Sunday lunch. I had the beef and my husband had the turkey. They were both delicious, and hubby even said it was the best Sunday dinner he'd had in a pub ! If you don't know Castle Acre it's a wonderful little historic village, with...

I was in a 'world of pain' (actually I was walking the Peddars Way with my brother but stupidly had not broken in my new walking boots). We stopped at the Ostrich for a bite to eat and a pint. This is a pleasant little village with a stunning castle and magnificent old priory - I decided I was in...

Visited this charming pub today for Sunday lunch. Good menu, and reasonable in price. Food arrived and very well presented, but when tucking in, was only luke warm and the roast potatoes weren't cooked through for the larger ones. However, the food did taste extremely nice, so can't fault that. Just a shame that something as simple as providing a...

Many thanks for your comments, what a shame your food wasn't as hot as it should be, we have not had problems with the temperature of our food in the past so I'm so sad that yours was a raw deal, hopefully it won't happen again and you will return to try us again and please if all is not...

Down in Kings Lynn for an overnight stay with our dog Barney and wanted a cosy eatery that we could relax in. This place ticked all the boxes....Friendly staff, pleasant country pub ambience and hearty, well cooked food. Nothing more needs to be said.

PLEASE let's have a carvery back.! also I think that the place needs a good spruce up, it's looking tired and a little grubby. I don't feel any passion inside this pub, take a look at weatherspoons his pubs always reflects the surroundings and history in its area, I don't see anything that reflects what this pub used to be...

Lovely and pleasant restaurant recently renovated. The atmosphere was nice and we had a wonderful time. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food came quickly and it was delicious, especially the pudding couldn't get enough. I very much enjoyed the food and the surrandings.

May as well say from the start that I've drank in this pub many times but first review . Castle acre is a lovely tourist destination but is still very much a working village and this is an old English pub in the finest tradition . Unlike , lets say America where blue collar and white collar really mix in...

Went here with friends, and we all had great meals, 2 fish and chips, 1 sea bass with a Jurassic prawn and a gnocchi. All great tasting and hot. Decor is a bit off the wall, but interesting!! Would recommend a visit.

Whilst travelling to the North Norfolk coast we stopped at this pub in the lovely village of Castle Acre. We had a simple soup and sandwiches but the food was delicious and very well presented. The pub has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and is full of character. The staff are friendly and welcoming and we found them very efficient....
