This pub with rooms above is in a great central location and has plenty of charm. Parking is around the back and it's an odd quirk that you can't check in until 1730 when the pub opens. However the accomodation is comfy, quiet (considering it's above a pub) and spacious. The room's are basic, but with the bare essentials in both the bedroom and bathroom. One of the best features is the welcoming and helpful nature of the hosts. The whole place could do with some modernisation, but it's clean, allows a good sleep and the continental breakfast supplied as part of the cost is adequate. You can pay for a cooked breakfast and considering the cost of a room it's hardly an expensive addition to a pleasant enough place.

Whilst the building and rooms could do with a level of renovation, the hotel is run by a fantastic couple and the food in the restaurant was outstanding. The bedroom, whilst dated, was very clean and large. I would stay here again for the hospitality and value.

We stayed for 3 nights to attend a weekend wedding. We have been to Martock on several occasions as we have family in the area but have never stayed at this hotel. It was a great pleasure to do so, it had great character and a good bar along with decent wifi. The owners and staff were very friendly and made you very welcome, cooked breakfast was of good quality and there was plenty of it. We had a room on the top which because of the age of the property was a bit of a climb. It was a family room and the only downside was the firmness of the double bed mattress, however we did have single bed alternatives. It was clean as was the bathroom and a good view of the church. Would stay again if back in the area.

Good hotel with great service, the food was good. Carrying our suitcases up to the top was a challenge and the bed was very hard with lumpy pillows. But service outweighs all the bad things. The first night we heard the church bells but the second night they weren’t as bad lol

I stayed for one night as part of a group. I was going to share the room with my son but forgot to request a twin bed so upon arrival discovered that it was a room with a double bed. There were no other rooms available. The owners offered to accommodate my son in a lounge on a sofa bed. That was exceptionally helpful. Generally the place is really lovely and the owners go out of their way to make their guests welcome.
