From the moment you see the house from the drive you know you are in for something special and it doesn't disappoint! The hotel has been beautifully restored and it combines old world charm with modern comforts. Our room was spacious and well appointed with a comfortable four poster bed. Dinner was a real treat served in the formal dining...

Unfortunately we never got the chance to stay, we had this booked as a Christmas treat a month previous, rang at 9 am on the day of arrival and the so called manager informed us we were on a list to call as the room was not fit for us to stay . Offered us another night with dinner included...

3 superb courses for under £20 per head. The food was stunning and the service excellent. The goat's cheese tartlet and duck starters were delicious, followed by mains of chicken, venison and beef. The portions sizes are perfect, leaving just enough room for desserts including chocolate cheescake and ice cream. The dining area is beautiful with an outstanding view of...

Everything about this Christmas seemed precarious. Our 89 year old mum who suffers from dementia was unwell for the two weeks before. My 17 year old son found he had to stay in London to work. So a few days before we wondered if we would make it to our Christmas lunch at Soughton Hall at all. But we did...

Some of it has been modernised but I hope it stops there. It would just become like thousands of other hotels. It is like a National Trust property. We were there for afternoon tea with singer Bexi Owen (hoping for repeats). If they ever had a 'Pride and Prejudice Ball' people would go from all over the World. The building...

I wanted to treat my Mum to a bit of pre-Christmas spoiling and Soughton Hall surpassed our expectations on every front. As soon as we walked into the Grand Reception Room we felt the warmth of the huge log fire roaring away in its enormous Inglenook setting. The Christmas decorations were just perfect and very much in keeping with such...

We booked one night in this lovely looking house as part of a weekend away. Aside from the magnificent surroundings, there was a significant delay at check-in. Ourselves and two other couples made a total of two phone calls and three rings of the bell (requested if no staff are manning the desk), but no-one showed. We and some other...
