Detailed Reviews
Whilst our room was clean and warm the hotel was in desperate need of redecorating. It felt totally neglected and unloved. We understand in these difficult times that only a very limited service could be offered and we expected that but the room where we could use a microwave to heat a meal was sparce and obviously not regularly cleaned judging by all the cobwebbs on the chairs and tables provided. On our second day using this facility, the room was festooned with sheets hanging up to dry. Given the size of the hotel and several rooms not in use, much better thought could have gone into providing a more comfortable area being available for guests to use whilst the restaurant was not open. It was a real shame as this would have made us feel more welcome and possibly more inclined to stay again in the future. Kind regards Mr and Mrs Long

We booked this hotel for a weekend away as a family for my husbands birthday.
Very easy to find and has amazing surroundings.
The receptionist was really polite and welcoming, she gave us a tour of the hotel to show where everything was before taking us to our room.
Our room was lovely! Just the right size for 3 of us and the view from my sons room was spectacular, the marina and boats, perfect for a 4 year old.
There is also a list of places around the hotel for you.
We had pre-booked the La Marina restaurant which was a good job because it was fully booked. Would highly recommend this place to eat.
I cannot fault this hotel at all.

I booked a penthouse and found the views from the room most spectacular. We used the swimming pool on both days we were there and it was nice and warm. We had a kitchenette in the room and a large dining table so we were able to eat in the room in the evening. The hotel staff were very friendly and offered to help with the luggage. The local area was very picturesque and some good walks by the sea on the doorstep. I would stay there again.

Arrived early our room wasn’t ready so Claire upgraded us to a family suite which had a magnificent view. We were made very welcome and told to ask if we needed anything. We will definitely come back,
The hotel was very clean, although food wasn’t available there were menus for local takeaways, plus short walk away were various eateries, plus cutlery plates etc., available in conservatory so that you could eat either in room or conservatory.

After initial mix up and discovering restaurant is not open during the Winter (Booking.com says it is!), the management worked hard to make my stay enjoyable.
I was ugraded from a room to an apartment and they made sure they opened the kitchens for me to provide a (truly excellent) cooked breakfast each day!
The apartment had self catering facilties, so - with the help of local takeaways - I was well catered for and very comfortable with wonderful views from the balcony down the Menai straits.
All in all very comfrtable and good value - a bit sorry to leave if I'm honest!

We received a friendly welcome which was a good start.
Our room was OK with a stunning view down the Menai Strait. However the en-suite bathroom was a joke; unbelievably tiny with a shower so small it was like being nailed vertically in a coffin ;-)
Bed was comfy and the room was clean.
NEGATIVES: No food available unless one forked out extra for an extortionate amount for a continental breakfast. Poor!
Around the hotel was OK but everything looked a bit tired.
However, it was the grounds of the hotel which, frankly, appalling. It had all the ambience of a stone quarry. Very tatty with broken rotting tables and seating on a bed of rough gravel with a plethora of weeds growing through it. It doubled as part of the spacious car park which also housed some broken down boats and rusting boat trailers. There was guttering hanging off the roof with an attempt to hold the down pipes with bits of rope.
This hotel's situation is totally wasted. It has great views. If only the owners took some pride on the exterior by creating a garden and buying some new outdoor furniture it would potentially be a very nice place.
Because of this we found the hotel considerably overpriced and this is one that;s been crossed of our :come again" list.

When we first checked in we got a "room tour" from the owner which seemed ok but upon futher inspection we found mould around the bathtub and the sink was clogged with hair. We checked the beds before sleeping and there was toenail clippings! Both beds were different, one was a hard memory foam and the other was super springy. Paid £10 for breakfast which seemed over priced for uncooked bacon and frozen hash browns. Immediately checked out in the morning. Would not recommend!

The room was huge, comfortable four poster bed, nice little kitchen area, great views over the harbour, didn't see many staff, but they were friendly and helpful. Good base for exploring North Wales. Would stay there again.

Theres something odd about this hotel, some rave reviews and some terrible ones. I should have read them first. I stayed here in October and I wouldn't go back again. It was simply awful. My room overlooked the car park was noisy, dirty and smelt of damp. There were broken wall tiles and the toilet had seen better days. The carpet was stained and torn it made me shudder the next morning when I got a good view of the room. They want your money when you book in and looking back I can see why. Walking out is always an option but fighting for a refund might be interesting. One night was enough for me. I left most of the breakfast, I couldn't leave quickly enough.

I have just returned from a trip to this hotel which locals describe as the pink palace when it should be called the stink palace. I could accept its dated and jaded appearance, its filthy windows and musty carpets. I just wish that the hotel wbsite had advised me to bring along a gas mask and protective clothing. The smell was that bad that I expected to find a dead rat in the bedside cabinet. I attempted to take my nieces swimming in the hotel pool but the stench was that bad we had to run swiftly outside, holding our breath for fear of throwing up. If you are considering a visit to this hell hole, I urge you, dont bother!!

Responded Sep 8, 2010
We refute this review as spurious. These "guests" state no room number (with the smelling like a dead rat comment) we therefore cannot reconcile it to anyone or any room. With a 76% satisfaction rating we are more than happy with the general tenor of views expressed about us)!!
