We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as we were booked on a CSI event at Think Forensic which is just up the road. It is a historic building which was owned by a mill owner and situated where he could view his mill from home. The hotel retains its character and charm whilst providing comfortable, affordable accommodation. Our...

Beautiful country house located between Scissett and Denby Dale, easy to find. Very nice interior, great for weddings & big parties. We went for dinnertime meals. My food was poor - fish chips & mushy peas. Fish grey - kohli, not cod or haddock. Other meals ok. Mine may have been one-off experience. Staff very nice. Don't rule it out.

Beautiful cosy surroundings on a cold damp day. Tea is served in the restaurant area which was formerly the chapel. Crisp linen and pretty china, choice of refillable tea or coffee and choice of sandwiches followed by delightful selection of cakes and scones. All served by friendly but discreet staff. Excellent value - admittedly we had 2-4-1 vouchers but the...

We stayed here for 1 night on the hotel's Winter package deal which turned out to be excellent value (b&b with 3 course dinner and a complimentary bottle of prosecco for £99). The room was spacious, well equipped with extra pillows etc, spotlessly clean and quiet. Dinner was nice, everything was tasty and freshly cooked and breakfast was lovely. The...

I was pleased to read you enjoyed your Afternoon Tea with us yesterday . It was indeed the coldest day of the year so far ! It is a shame that you didn't mention during your Afternoon Tea that your Mum was so cold - we would happily have given her a personal heater but we were not made aware...

We went here for afternoon tea for 2 and paid £35. The restaurant was lovely and clean and the staff were very friendly. The food was very average and I've had a lot better elsewhere & paid less. All I could taste in the sandwiches was butter, in one was a really big blob, it was horrid. I opened my...

A dark rainy evening made the long drive up to the hotel a little different from the norm. A very pleasant greeting from reception, took a seat in the bar because we were early and awaited the delivery of the promised menus. Obviously a very busy evening since the menus did not arrive. An enquiry brought them immediately. We were...

My friend was given champagne afternoon tea for Christmas. The service is excellent, food very average! The room is quite nice, and is clean but not cosy and afternoon tea ish! Would not recommend, much nicer places for tea.
