My family and I planned to visit a number of pubs whilst walking from Goathland to Egton to celebrate my mums 70th birthday. Our group was made up of a mixture of professional and retired men and women aged between 40 and 70. One of the pubs we had chosen to visit was The Wheatsheaf Inn, Egton, a pub I...

I took my parents for lunch at the Wheatsheaf Inn in Egton North Yorkshire today. The pub had a very friendly atmosphere with a very amenable landlord and helpful staff. This was topped off by the lovely food we all had. The wild mushroom soup with black truffle was packed full of flavour and was accompanied by a hot crusty...

We were staying in Eskdale for a few days to celebrate an anniversary and were recommended the Wheatsheaf Inn for our anniversary meal. The bar areas are comfortable but the main dining area is a little bland; the size and shape of the room makes it difficult to be anything more than functional. However the food and service was very...

Great food, and a very warm welcome, but shame about the service. We have visited the Wheatsheaf in the past and can't fault them. In October we visited three times. The first time was fine. The second time we had to wait fifty five minuets for out starters although the table had been booked and they new we were coming....

Spent a week with friends in hired cottage in Glaisdale, eating out at local pubs on three occasions. Although the quality and welcome were also good elsewhere, The Wheatsheaf stood out as being the best in the area. The choices of both starters and main courses were broad and interesting; ingredients were fresh and well cooked; the chef knows what...

We booked at short notice and were made extremely welcome. The food was absolutely delicious and we will definitely be going back. I don't think there is a better meal to be had in Yorkshire! All in all a very good evening out.
