We stayed for three nights last week. The room was well furnished and the breakfasts and evening meals were of a good quality. However, it would have been a more enjoyable stay if we had been notified by the website about three items. The hotel car park has been converted into a beer garden but parking is possible in (with care) at the nearby Market Square. Breakfasts are advertised as starting from 0700 but don't actually start until 0900.This altered our walking plans. Thirdly, the tasting menu is a bit misleading. There are 7 courses of good food but the wine pairings only apply to 4 courses (including only 1 of the first 3 courses). So you may need to buy an additional glass or two). I understand from the manager that the website maintenance is being brought in-house and should soon reflect Covid 19 restrictions. …
Fabulous! The hotel was highly recommended & we were looking forward to our stay & were not disappointed in any way. Check in was quick & efficient & very good covid 19 restrictions in place throughout.. Room excellent & of high quality. Can't fault in any way. Can highly recommend.
My friends and I come here every Tuesday morning for breakfast and a catch up. The food is always excellent. Very fresh and local produce cooked and served very professionally. The staff are all very friendly, polite and professional. Nothing is ever too much trouble. I would highly recommend The Advocate to all my family and friends.
On Wednesday we went to the advocate for afternoon tea with our daughter in law. We have visited many times and eaten a variety of meals on the menu, including the afternoon tea. The food and service has always been excellent and today was no exception. Our table was ready for us to sit down immediately and we were served our drinks straight away. Our afternoon tea came, our daughter in law is vegetarian and they had catered excellently for her with a lovely choice of sandwiches. Our afternoon tea was delicious, beautiful sandwiches and a lovely cracker covered in prawns which was also included with the sandwiches. On the second tier were scones with jam, butter and cream, these were also gorgeous. The cakes on the third tier, were absolutely delicious. The millionaires shortbread was to die for and as usual the brownie was excellent. There was also a sponge cake which was so fluffy. We were absolutely stuffed and it’s good value for money, worth every penny.…
