We have just returned, very reluctantly, from a week in Gate Lodge, one of Trysha & Graham’s unique and superb holiday cottages in Ingram, in the Breamish Valley of the Northumberland National Park. After a long drive, from the moment we entered Gate Lodge, the fatigue melted away. The cottage was prepared so beautifully for our arrival, gentle lighting and music playing as we opened the door, and then the wonderful smell of freshly baked bread, and our pre-ordered supper gently cooking. It took us a few moments to realise there was home made soup to accompany the wonderful fresh crusty loaf! As we had skipped lunch we enjoyed this unexpected and delightful late lunch, at teatime! It didn’t spoil our appetites for the excellent supper prepared by Trysha, later in the evening. Gate Lodge has a hot tub/spa on the cottage’s secluded private terrace which was bliss after a long walk, plus a sauna in the dressing room! No 5 star hotel we have ever stayed in offered these facilities exclusively for our use. Delightful walks from the door, and so much to explore within a 30-45 drive from Ingram. The tranquility of the setting, the beauty of the location, the birdlife in the garden including Trysha & Graham’s doves, plus rabbits gently grazing on the lawn, and we were visited several evenings by a hedgehog, who after checking us out, gently strolled across the enormous lawns of The Old Rectory, Trysha & Graham’s home, around which are 7 other superbly designed cottages of different periods and size. Cheviot Holiday Cottages deserve in excess of 5 Stars. We are sure many guests return time and again, we most certainly will be doing so. Thank you Trysha and Graham, and congratulations on the quality of the holiday homes you have created, and the service you provide. Angela & Roger

We have just spent a week staying at Gate Lodge. It was an excellent choice. Very high standard accommodation, spotless and well equipped. We loved the homemade soup & bread to welcome us. The hot tub & sauna were very relaxing and scrupulously clean. Hosts were friendly and available if needed. Location was great, we enjoyed watching the birds and wildlife outside including red squirrels. Good walks from the door and not too far a drive from the beautiful Northumberland coast. We would recommend Cheviot Holiday Cottages & hope to return when we holiday in Northumberland again.

This was the most relaxing week imaginable. The cottage was beautiful, the meal ready for arrival superb, the pizza mid-week first class and the cafe round the corner provided lovely lunches. Two couples and two dogs had a thoroughly grand time - and we have booked for next year.

Two couples and our dogs spent a very happy week in Honeysuckle Cottage. Everything you need is included, great walks nearby and a cafe is 2 minutes walk. We opted for an arrival dinner which we'd highly recommend. We were greeted by the smell of beef stew in two slow cookers. Not only was it delicious, but we were very glad of not having to cook after a long journey and we could relax immediately. We also recommend 'pizza night' superbly done by Trisha and Graham. Trisha hand makes the pizzas from scratch with top quality ingredients, whilst Graham tends the wood-fired pizza oven imported from Italy. A wonderful stay and we're already planning a return visit.

I can't write highly enough about The Coach House. It had every detail we could have wanted...and we stress tested them all! We cooked, did laundry, used the sound system, watched DVDs, had baths and showers. Everything works! All the details are lovely; drying rack, good pots and pans, coffee grinder. If we needed something Graham was on it. The cottages are in a great location with many walks on the doorstep. The river is round the corner, as is a cafe, a sweet church and a postbox! The icing in the cake is their guest welcome area with so much info on things to do, copies of hikes near and far, a large library of DVDs to borrow. A week was not enough with so many places to visit and walks to try.
