We are local to The Ilchester Arms and eat and drink on a regular basis. We were very didaspointed with our meals last Thursday on the steak night. We looked at the steak menu and the two ladies saw salmon on the menu and instantly said yes to that choice and a per usual the guys choose the steaks. It... More

We stayed at the Ilchester Arms en route to our holiday in Devon. Even though it was one of the nights that a Euro football game was on it was quiet and a perfect resting place. Dinner isn't served until 7pm but The Bull Inn opposite was a perfectly adequate alternative. Well cooked and delicious and reasonably priced too. Breakfast... More

We were not disappointed, great menu, wonderful home cooked food.Everything was so tasty. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We ended up eating here for all three nights. Don't expect a "chain" hotel with contemporary styling. This is a comfortable, homely and informal place to stay. The restaurant has a varied, reasonably priced menu, and portion sizes are good. It seems to get quite busy so probably worth getting there early. Food is served from 7.00 pm and the hotel information says it's not open on Sunday evenings... More

A real pleasure to stay in such a fine country hotel. Ensuite room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Food offer at dinner was very good and we enjoyed the vegetarian breakfast. Staff especially friendly and helpful. Customer service in all respects was efficient and timely. Lots of local customers, a lively atmosphere on the front terrace making the most of... More

The ilchester Arms is located in a village which has a lovley ambience, pretty church and river walks, with a very convenient location. The food is excellent and we enjoyed four starters - sort of English tapas - which were brilliant and absolutely hit the spot. Hot Smoked Salmon with asparagus, Hoisin Duck Pancakes, scallops and the best goats cheese... More

My sister and I stayed a week. We each had our own rooms with bathing facilities. Beds were very comfortable and clean. Very quiet nothing to disturb ones sleep. Chef owner provides delicious meals and the staff is very helpful and always polite. Lovely renovated older building. I plan on returning to this establishment on my next visit.

There were eight of us in our family to celebrate my birthday. We all said that our meals were really good. I had beef, and I like it really rare, which it was and it was very tender. The young lady who served us was lovely. Thank you.

Birthday celebration meal for 22 people from a suggested menu in the function room. Food was excellent as was the service from the friendly and efficient staff. My family were all very impressed which was important to me as they had travelled a long way to be there.
