Detailed Reviews
Late in in the day I needed a room in West Sussex, thankfully I found The Seal.
The rooms are spotlessly clean well set out and have everything a business traveller needs, the bathroom was small but practical and had a good shower.
Downstairs finds an excellent team from afternoon bar staff to servers that wouldn’t be out of place in a high end Michelin restaurant.
The food is outstanding and even though being a little full from the night before I stumped for the full English and as you see from the picture it was just excellent well cooked and served hot with good coffee, if you was reading this thinking ok about £150 a night B&B would be fair try £60 !!!!
Hopefully the manager is reading this your cleaner is fantastic your bar staff great your servers attentive and just very nice people, your hotel and dining room are the best I have visited in a long time.
Thank you and see you soon

We were visiting a friend in Selsey and this pub/hotel came up in a search for overnight accommodation. We arrived before check in time and were shown a room on the top floor which wasn’t quite ready but we could leave our bags. We went off to do what we’d planned. In the interim, the hotel upgraded our room and even moved our bags down for us. The new room was considerably larger. What was impressive is that the design met with a guest’s needs. The positioning of things like mirrors, lights and plug/USB sockets is crucial and The Seal got it right! Everything was fresh and spotlessly clean. We had early dinner that night and the food was very good. The staff are friendly and attentive. Breakfast was superb. The full English was very full! The pancakes with bacon and syrup were wonderful. Everything about the stay was better than many four and five star hotels we’ve stayed at.

Very impressed with the COVID precautions in place and the adherence by all staff to them. Room was pleasant and clean, although a little stuffy, despite the air con unit in the room. The biggest improvement (see previous review below) was the food quality. I ordered a full English breakfast and full it was. It was humongous but top quality. One of the best I’ve ever had. So a big well done as it was a massive improvement over the last time we stayed. It’s still on the pricey side but with the big improvement in food quality, it took the sting out of it. All staff were excellent and you could see that ‘customer service’ was firmly on their agenda. Well done.
(Previous review) For the price, much better quality of food was expected. I ate in here about 3 years ago and the food was definitely better then. Accommodation was very small. Car Park at rear is very poorly lit. There is no lift here and if carrying big suitcases up several flights of stairs it would not be suitable for some guests. Overall, a little disappointed and expected better for the price.

We had a double room with ensuite shower/toilet, at the back of the hotel. The bed was comfortable, the water hot and the television worked well. There is air conditioning too which we needed during our visit as we were blessed with hot afternoon sun through the window. The room was clean although a little more attention might be given to the areas around the basin as somebody else's toothpaste was decorating the door and wall. The rooms were cleaned daily but I think in these virus times, it might be safer to do one thorough clean between guests and then stay out of the room altogether until vacated - it just might cut down unecessary risk to visitors and staff. Entrance to the room and pub was by electronic key which worked on every occasion which is a first in my experience! There's a car park at the rear of the pub - not far to stagger with luggage. Unless I missed it, there didn't appear to be disabled access to the rooms which was up some fairly steep steps. Although we didn't hear any pub noise in our room, we could hear the other residents especially the one that left at 5 in the morning!
WiFi is available which needs logging into on each occasion. Breakfast can be booked and dinner was available (the latter not Monday to Wednesday when we visited). We didn't eat here though so can't comment on the food. There's a good range of well-kept real ales in the pub. We enjoyed our stay.

We mostly enjoyed our stay at The Seal for two nights. We stayed during the recent heat wave so that we could spend time at West Wittering beach and the nearby RSPB reserve. We booked their last available room and found out quickly why it had not been allocated - the air conditioning was broken. However the rooms are advertised as having air con. We felt very let down by what was either mismanagement or blatant greed when we were sold that room. Management knew the air con was broken (one of the staff told us so). Shame that this brought down an otherwise really pleasant stay. Agree with other reviews that mentioned great food (super local seafood) and great staff (so friendly and helpful).

What a poor experience!
Firstly our "superior" room had no heating.
We were moved to another "superior" room, 12ft square with a shower room 5ft x 3 ft and windows that didnt open.
We ate in the restaurant, another mistake!
Rubbery squid rings, and mediocre fish and chips, nut all at a top price.
Overall, hugely disappointing, we would have been better off staying at a Premier Inn.
Be warned!

A well run hotel. Simple, comfy bedrooms. The evening meal was a very good standard and well served by eager staff. Only one moan! Each element of the breakfast was individually charged. No toast, no preserves, no coffee on the table. Perhaps I’ve become used to buffets? A black mark on an otherwise pleasant stay.

I was so pleasantly surprised by our stay here. A very friendly welcome for our late check in and then, to help us out, the owner or manageress offered to give us a lift to the nearby Seal Bay resort where we were going to watch a band. Arriving back to this hotel around 1am the bar was still open and we all had coffees and again received a very warm welcome. The room was really comfortable and breakfast was superb with a very entertaining waiter who made us laugh over and over with his dry wit and infectious charm. All of us, 5 people, were bowled over by how fantastic this place is and we will certainly be back.

Very pleasant two nights at The Seal. Room was very comfortable with spacious room and en suite. Extremely comfortable king size bed. Breakfast was delicious- both full English and granola with Greek yoghurt and compote. Friendly, helpful staff. Only disappointment was the kitchen was closed when we asked for food on the Sunday evening - we were too late. Thoroughly recommended.

Me and my partner went here for our anniversary as it’s where we had our first date, our waitresses were lovely, however the manager was unbelievably rude and unprofessional, I ordered soy glaze salmon and pork bites, both were overdone and flavourless the salmon tasted of absolutely nothing there was also no glaze in sight, the pork bites were rock solid, working in the industry too I’m aware that this happens and it’s absolutely fixable, but when the manager came over to speak to me after I hadn’t touched my food other than to try it, she borderline told me off like I was a child, she may have been a lot older than me but I am infact not a child. She argued with me and my partner for some reason and told me she hoped I’d order something I actually liked, and that I should’ve said something sooner, I do understand that I couldn’t said sooner , I didn’t because not only did I not want anything else but I also was nervous as complaining is not something I do and I find it incredibly uncomfortable as an autistic person who struggles socially, she made this 10x worse and would stare at me once I was clearly finished speaking. Was very bitter once she finally removed the food we hadn’t touched and refused to look at us when giving us the bill. Shame that the manager is the least professional person serving as she lets the rest of the lovely staff down.
