Had great expectations of this hotel, not impressed, not child friendly. Asked to go the family area, nothing in there for the children. Eventually went upstairs to the TV ROOM, some old board games, cards and old books, chess board.. Grandson said he didn't feel welcome in the hotel as the they were always served their food last. Grand daughter... More

We assume the hotel trades on the fact that most diners are passing through only once. While the family room was decent and the ploughman's lunch sported a good chunk of Stilton, the children's meals and scampi and chips were tiny. Just a few nuggets of scampi and chicken, not many more chips and no sides or salad garnish. Everything... More

We popped in here for a drink initially, we were two families with 4 children and 2 dogs between us. We were quickly told about the code of conduct for dogs as soon as we got through the door and given a card with them on and straight after that another staff member told us again and gave us the... Disappointing to be given vegetables which were substandard, our new potatoes were anything but new, in fact they were old, hard & green. The rest of the veg (carrots) were poor tasteless and frozen. When you pay nearly £9 per head for a simple pie and veg, I can't see how you could go so wrong. It feels like they... More

This is the 2nd occasion in 3 years we have taken our holiday in North Yorkshire. We love visiting Goathland, it's such a beautiful village in a beautiful setting. We decided to have lunch at the Goathland Hotel. As we had children we sat in the family room. We had no issues with this, it's a large room, the kids... More

Being a massive fan of heartbeat and Goathland itself we have visited several times but today was our first visit to the Goathland Hotel and to be honest we really wish we hadn't bothered. Bar, family room and toilets were all very clean and tidy. Menu really doesn't have much choice ordered chicken casserole which looked like the filling of... More

We have had a different room on each visit and as in previous visits the room was extremely clean, decoration was extremely good. The shower was excellent, the unit was electric, independent of the hot water system. Toilet washbasin etc. in in excellent and clean condition.... More

Weve just spent two nights at the goathland hotel with our dog and would just like to thank everyone there for a most enjoyable stay. The staff were very friendly, the room very comfortable and the food excellent.A great place to stay for the moors and the railway. See you again next year.

Absolutely disgusting. Don't even bother to go through the door. We ordered garlic mushrooms fried in butter as a starter £4-75. We were served a plate of boiled mushrooms swimming in their own water, not a sign of butter or garlic.!! A warm piece of french stick was plonked on the top of the mushrooms. Not sliced in half. No... More

This is, of course, The Aidensfield Arms from YTV's Heartbeat and is situated across from what was Scripps Garage in the series. The interior is different to the studio version and is a welcoming cosy pub. They do good food fayre with a varied selection. We enjoyed the food which was tasty and we did not have to wait long... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to our traditional local pub and hotel. We have become world famous by sheer accident but for the very reasons Yorkshire Television chose us we like to think that the very best of an English village pub has been delivered to an international audience. Our belief is that many come because of the fictional Aidensfield but return for the spirit that is Goathland. Essentially we offer the convenience of a small hotel but with a big personality. The hotel has eight en-suite bedrooms; they all have individual characteristics and views of our wonderful moors and timeless village. Our rooms reflect the traditional building and retain all the charm and character of yesteryear. The rooms are all fully equipped with 32" LCD Televisions with Freeview, Tea, Coffee and Hot Chocolate making facilities and of course all fresh white linens. ... more   less
