We were a little apprehensive about our visit as we read previous reviews after booking. We had nothing at all to worry about.
We had 2 nights at the Goathland Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff we very polite and friendly and nothing...More
Only dropped in for a drink and a sandwich due to the Heartbeat connection ,very unwelcoming and actually quite depressing . We bought a leaflet from the bar which gave you any info about Heartbeat i got the overall impression from this that they do...More
Rude staff, told us we couldn't sit where we chose and that we had to choose other seats.. In which we had to sit outside on a cold winters day as we couldn't sit inside, I wouldn't recommend this pub as it isn't family friendly
You wonder how a TV producer found Goathland - it is very remote in middle of the moors. An ideal stopping place if travelling between York and Whitby.
We visited simply because of the Heartbeat connection and were pleased to find it exactly as it...More

The management have not changed for many years. I have visited and stopped there 4 times and I am stopping again in October. I have never had any problems, the staff have always been excellent. I cannot see what some of the complaints are all about.
It is not large or a 5* accommodation. It is well worth a visit if you were a Heartbeat fan. It is only a few minutes walk from the station so try and visit between trains as the village can get crowded and the Goathland Hotel is their first call.
I have nothing to do with the Goathland Hotel or any members of the staff, I am just a customer.

Hello Hannah, thank you for your response. Surely your staff must be able to remember regulars? - Unless your employee turnover is high. One time, I was in my Girl Guide leaders uniform, which you have to be 18+ for and still ID'd! - Of which is an international organisation and recognised by many. I and my fellow Guiding friends were spoken to abruptly by a matured male behind the bar - we were sat deciding what to order. I feel as though you seem to treat all young people the same - we aren't all as bad as those portrayed in the media. Here you are now pushing us into a cafe. If it was for my love of Heartbeat, I certainly wouldn't return.
