Fantastic first visit for Sunday lunch. Wonderful roast beef. Fab desert. Will need to return to try another desert. Only slight criticism, as we had no starter, the waitress could have taken the unused cutlery away. All in all , well worth a visit.

We visited for Sunday lunch today and what a treat. The beef was beautifully served and was one of the tastiest roasts we've had. The dripping potatoes were indulgent and along with the Yorkshire pudding, homemade of course were all complimented by the fantastic red wine jus. The cheese board was plentiful, the blood orange sorbet was a delight and...

Stayed for two nights on a deal for £99. Owner and staff very friendly and accommodating , we had an upgrade to 4 poster bedroom after our original room had a dripping shower. Hotel was cosy rather than luxurious . Food and drink excellent. Lovely log fires and sofas to sit on and read newspapers, books or play games., all...

Dear woodygateshead, Thank you for your review, I was delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us, 'cosy rather than luxurious' , I can live with that I would rather offer 5 star hospitality to happy guests than 5 star facilities to unhappy ones. We look forward to welcoming you back. Regards Tony Finn

Having planned a romantic 2 night break for my husband & I we arrived at the hotel expecting a nice room & some relaxation. Instead I left the hotel in tears. Having arrived mid afternoon we checked in & a receptionist said she would see if our room was ready she then walked out of the hotel!! I thought this...

Dear Secretary48 Thank you for your review, Without wanting to engage in verbal ping pong, but just wishing to set the record straight, you booked a deal through a third party booking site for a standard double room. On arrival you did not like the room you were allocated, you were offered an alternative room with a standard double bed...

Stayed for two nights last week courtesy of a groupon deal. We could not fault the hotel! Very pleasant staff, owner and his partner very chatty and took an interest in their guests wellbeing. Breakfast was superb, we ate both nights in the bar and food was exceptional, all credit to the chef. Would definitely stay here again! Thank you!

The staff were all very welcoming, helpful and friendly. We ate in the hotel both evenings, the food was lovely and perfectly cooked. Can't really fault it...

A very nice hotel in a small village. Small friendly public bar with a nice coal fire that was very nice on a cold winter night. The restaurant has an excellent chief, we had the Sunday lunch and dinner the following day and breakfast both days. All the food served was first class. There was a comfortable lounge to relax...
