We booked this at the last minute for a break before going back to work. It's a lovely period property that dates back to 1841. We were greeted by the owner and shown to our room. Very clean and spacious with an ensuit that was...More
The staff could not be more welcoming and friendly, would highly recommend. Lovely country hotel in a lovely North Yorkshire village and breakfast was delightful. Great to stay in a hotel where the staff really care.
Me and 6 friends stayed here whilst another friend got married. We were really spoiled by the staff. They made us feel welcome and even left wine out for us one
Night when we fancied carrying on the party. They were very accommodating and the...More

Are you joking..he's a typical Yorkshireman, whether born and bred or an 'immigrant' of many years standing, I'm unsure...sometimes blunt but always fair. He and his wife run a lovely hotel and he's very proud I think of the service he and his staff give to clients. Maybe, as you would, some Tripadvisor clients comments and complaints don't really hold up and are hard to accept. I have stayed here for 2 days each year for the past 4 years and have never had cause for any complaint.

There is a local bus service number 194 which picks up outside the hotel and will take you to Malton where you can pick up a train to York. But on your return the last bus back to Hovingham leaves Malton at 6pm.
Alternatively you could drive to the outskirts of York and use the park and ride the best one from here being the one situated at Monks Cross, I think the last bus back is around 8pm.
I hope this helps.
We look forward to welcoming you to Hovingham.
