There were two couples here for a late lunch in May. Coolish but sunny day so the Lion Inn was a very welcome oasis on the Moors. Friendly, cosy place with lots of atmosphere - but watch your head on some low beams – and a great location on the moors. It was not too busy on this Wednesday. Nice... More

Three of us ate lunch at The Lion today and neither the food or service could be criticised in any way, The ordering went like clockwork and food arrived promptly and efficiently, served by very pleasant staff. The helpings were VERY generous to say the least, perfectly cooked and delicious. All three of us struggled to finish our meals due... More

Funky spot...neat? Weird? A good stay. I had a tiny room but I was paying cheap prices. Very cool location and the food was good. Hotel is laid out funny and the dinning room has very low ceilings. Would not want this place to catch fire while I was there. However I would stay there again. Definately a meeting place... More

Booked into the Lion's Inn in the advice of a friend. Welcomed by a great English Summer's day, overcast, raining and cool! Into the pub to warm up. Great selection of beers, reasonably priced for the UK. Had dinner in the bar, great home cooked meal, large portions, no space for starters or pudding. Breakfast on the morning of departure also... Last time we visited this place was much smaller. The additions don't make it any less homely and friendly. Eating areas can be quite secluded. the food is very good and the price is right. There is ample parking and opportunities for overnight stays. Highly recommended. We didn't stay but this site likes globes filled. If the bedrooms match the... More

I stayed here while walking the Lyke Wake walk. After walking 20 miles of a 40 mile walk this pub was a fantastic sight! I love the olde world charm it has. There is a good selection of drinks to choose from to quench your thirst and a sizeable menu. The parmo, is a it bland, the portions are massive,... More

One of the few places on the North York Moors where due to its size, you can almost guarantee to get a table on a busy Summer Sunday lunchtime. Although very busy the service was quick and friendly. The four of us ate from the specials menu, ranging from Sunday roasts, vegetarian to rib-eye steak. The portions were 'Yorkshire' sized... More

In fact the only option on the stretch before Glaisdale. I had a very small and hot single room on the ground floor and was a bit reluctant to leave the window wide open and although the quantity of food for my seafood platter was big the quality was not so good . Similarly breakfast was not that good. Great... More
