Stayed for a week in May and first time to Langkawi. Had looked at all 5 star options and chose The Meritus because there is a small town about 5 minutes along the beach at Cenang where you can have a change of scene and food rather than being stuck in a resort. In fact we spent nearly all our time in the Meritus as it had everything we needed. Lovely rooms, really good service and great staff and the pools were just excellent. A massive beach with no crowds and beautiful white sand. Restaurants were fine, particularly the breakfast buffet and also dinner at the Cba restaurant on the beachfront.. Brilliant location and setting, - real quality. I'd definitely recommend the Meritus and look forward to going back one day. Bonus - it's 10 minutes from the airport ! Go for a Pool view or Sea view room - it's worth the extra.

I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough. In a perfect location right on the beach (white sands and calm water) and convenient walking distance to shops and restaurants and activities. Hotel staff are more than happy to assist with any bookings for tours or activities. Pools are great with a fantastic and safe area for kids featuring slides, waterfalls, etc. Choice of in-house restaurants for dining, breakfast or snacks. Staff are friendly and couldn't be more helpful (especially our housemaid Rohana). We loved this place so much we're going back same time next year.

This is a wonderful place where you can just relax and enjoy the resort, or go out to a popular street with local food stalls and activities. Always try and book the breakfast option - breakfast is a grand affair. The dinner at Spice Market is very good as well. The swimming pool is the best pool I have been too. Just an absolutely wonderful place all around. The pool is open from 8am to 8pm. It would be good if it can be open a little longer so can have a dip before that wonderful breakfast.

Staff is really helpful and courteous, place is well kept and clean, though we did come across some problems such as the remote control for the air conditioning that was not working and the flush was faulty.
Their buggy service was also top notch, and you need not wait more than 5 minutes.
The spa was terrific.

I stayed at this property with my wife and 2 kids last year in June for 3 nights in a garden terrace room overlooking the pool. It was an awesome experience, so good we are booked to stay again next month for 3 nights. The breakfast is fantastic, the beach is pristine and all to yourself. The staff are friendly and really lovely. Housekeeping dies your room so well everyday. My family and I love Langkawi and more so Meritus Pelangi. Waiting to be back in June.

I must say that we were a little worried that, this being out 5th visit, maybe we might be "over it". No way, we stayed 10 nights and were very sad to leave. The location and grounds are amazing, hectares of grounds so you never feel crowded when walking around and often we had the Cascade Pool almost to ourselves, and a clean, quiet beach with a stunning view and easy walking distance to a growing number of restaurants big and small. We love breakfasts, a great variety of food and the chance to get to know the breakfast staff who return friendship 10 fold. And the coffee from the new machine is now good. Because Langkawi is totally duty free, eating out is really cheap (not so at resorts) and alcohol dangerously cheap eg 1 litre of Gin, 45 ringits (about $15 Australian). We have always loved the rooms: spacious, comfortable and welcoming. Almost all the staff are friendly and helpful, many exude a warmth seldom experienced elsewhere. We will return to Meritus, it stands out as one of the very few places that ticks all our boxes.

We turned up without a booking, as we had been let down by another hotel. On arrival we were quoted a very expensive price for 2 night's stay. It was too high for us so we headed off to mull over our options over a drink - logged onto a hotel comparison website and managed to book it for half of the rate we were quoted!!
I believe that the hotel has undergone renovation in recent years and our room was lovely - with a partial view of the sea and a huge balcony.
Location is great, within easy walking distance of some great restaurants on Pantai Cenang.
There are 2 pools - and we really enjoyed the "grown ups" pool with a waterfall and swim-up bar.
Breakfast seemed a bit chaotic and staff were overwhelmed. They had to place additional tables oustide to cope with numbers.
The only real let down for us was the maintenance around the grounds, which were quite unkempt in many areas. The beach and areas leading to it were not very clean and we got the feeling that the staff really didn't care very much.
We enjoyed our stay, and whilst we visit Langkawi at least once a year we probably might not stay at the Meritus Pelangi again as we don't feel that the full rack rate represents good value.

Dear mapmanish, thank you for your valuable feedback. We apologize in the shortcomings of fulfilling your holiday expectations. Rest assured issues pertaining the care of the grounds have been rectified, we have a team of dedicated staff who look into the landscape and gardens surround the resort area. +ve - Location, lots of food options nearby - Reasonable rates - Very reasonable check in/out process - Very good room size - Very nice landscape, trees around, beach and view! - Clean room - Clean Bathroom - Good Mattress quality - Clean sheets and of good quality - Clean towels - Good free Wifi signal everywhere - Good entertainment system - Good standing shower (fixed and movable) - Good heated water (gets heated really fast!) - Amenities - In room iron and iron board - Good room service - Good baggy service (can be busy during breakfast time but you can walk to the buffet) - Nice staff, very nice baggy drivers - Good for families, and couples - Very impressive breakfast buffet - Nice pools (two of them) - Nice beach
-ve: - Pillows not too comfortable - Poor soundproofing (You can hear people next door, people next door will start knocking on the wall if TV is loud, and you can definitely hear the airplanes during day time only) - Unwanted guests (Lizards) outside the room door (Thanks God!) but this is part of island life! - Not too bright room specially at night (very dim lights) - Hot room due to humidity weather outside (AC takes a bit till it cools the room down)

Stayed at the deluxe sea facing room in Dec 2014 and was rewarded with superb views every morning we were there. The feel of the hotel and area feels very much like the authentic kampung (village). It was very quiet and serene, perfect for end of the year reflection. If you're staying here, definitely go for the sea view facing rooms. Well worth the extra money. We loved the buggy services provided, frequency is quite good though we normally walked to our rooms to enjoy the serene environment. The top floors corridors and stairs were quite dark at night, would recommend management to add extra lights for these areas since it may be of a hazard.

Yes I was there this August, it was very hot. The only rain was a 30 min period whilst we were out in the Mangroves. The skies were blue and the sea is warm.

Not sure exactly. We stayed at a refurbished ocean view bungalow/suite building number 13, very close to the pool, restaurants and lobby. I believe that the bigger ones with separate bedrooms were very close. Hope you find this answer helpful
