Hotel Maestral is a small, family run hotel on a quiet island Prvic near the town of Sibenik in Dalmatia, Croatia. There are no cars on the island but there is a secure parking for our guests on the mainland. Island is very peaceful with two small fishing villages and lots of Mediterranean herbs and plants. Hotel is located in a former school house building that was fully reconstructed and turned into hotel in 2004.

Detailed Reviews
The hotel is great, clean, great service, old and modern in the same time. The hotel restaurant is more than great. The whole island is small so really everything is near! The stuff is great and will help you.

Great property on a hidden gem of an island just off the coast of Split. Excellent base to discover the Dalmation coast. We stayed here for a week as part of a SwimTrek adventure and loved every minute.
Great food, comfortable beds and linens, friendly staff. Highly, highly reccomended!

Fantastic place to stay. Great location and the staff were brilliant. Always attentive and nothing was a problem. Fabulous breakfasts. The bedrooms are air conditioned. Lovely atmosphere. No cars on the island so only access is by boat. Highly Recommend.

Absolutely stunning. We stayed for two nights in a sea view room. Breakfast was gorgeous and the restaurant was outstanding. Can’t wait to go back. Only criticisms would be the pillows weren’t comfortable at all and the wooden flooring made the room quite noisy from the guests above

I stayed at Hotel Maestral for a SwimTrek holiday. It’s a really lovely family-run hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. I changed room once (for logistical reasons) and both rooms though small were spotlessly clean and perfectly fine. The staff are fantastic, so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really good too. I only ate in the restaurant one night but it was very tasty. I have seen some comments about the neighbouring church and bells which are rung hourly/half hourly but you do stop hearing them after a while. I would definitely stay in this hotel again!

We stayed 6 nights halfboard in the 3 * star Hotel Maestral on the car-free island of Prvic Luka, near Sibenik. The Time Out Croatia guide praised it a lot, but boy are they wrong!
The island is beautiful, the scenery lovely and the location of the hotel - a renovated former schoolbuilding - super. We had the best room of the hotel, with 5 windows and a magnificent view and paid quite a lot for that (=140 euro/night) - considering the region. We saw some of the other rooms in the house and they are pretty small.
It is such a shame and wasted opportunity the hotel is so bad: "stylish" here translates as 100% Ikea and the common areas have a distinct youth hostel feel. It is badly kept: in 6 nights, the sheets were NOT changed ONCE, there were hairs on the floors and hardly no cleaning of the (bath)room during our stay. The terrace smells of the sewer that flows directly into the sea and the food was VERY bad: never before have we been offered fishsticks with french fries and cornichons as salad, dessert wasn't included anyways! Extra side orders were unappropriate expensive (for example 20 kuna (= about 3 euro) for a handful of cooked potatoes - for Croatia VERY expensive); the a la carte prices were the most expensive ones compared to the 4 other restaurant we saw on the island, service was hardly friendly, with the only exception the guy responsible for the grill, Sascha, who was very nice.
Breakfast is served form 8-9.30 in the moring, quite early in our opinion for a holiday hotel.
The advertise having TV and Internet. Well, there is a TV in the room - but it only has HR 1 on it - all in Croatian - so that helps only if you understand Croatian. Internet is next to the reception, a very slow connection thats costs 1 kuna per minute - ridiculously expensive compared to internet café's in Zagreb or the classy 4* Hotel Park in Split, were we stayed as well.
The hotel caters to swimming & sailing groups so during 5 out of 6 nights of our stay there was a big group of 14-16 people around - and that is were all the attention goes to. We got a very second class guest feeling there, not only because of the food: the air conditioning was turned off the night there was no group in the hotel.
The prices they are charging are in NO relation to the value they are offering. We would never return and recommend for this pretty island to rent an appartment - there are plenty that seemed nice on wonderful locations.

Response from maestral, qwner at Hotel Maestral
Responded Nov 25, 2006
Dear Sir/Madam, I would like to correct some facts Marci16 states in his review. The price of our best room in September is 108 Euros not 140. Other rooms cost 64 and 72 Euros (with a sea view) breakfast included. Breakfast is served between 8.00 to 10.00, not 8.00 and 9.30. Our rooms are cleaned every morning. Cleaning staff give guests the option to have their sheets changed every day, otherwise they are changed twice a week. There are 4 tv channels in the rooms, and satelite tv in the sitting room & reception area. Food. We serve traditional Croatian food and seafood, as well as a selection of top Croatian wines. We do our best to satisfy customers individual requests. A broad selection of guidebooks and newspapers have given us positve reviews. Internet. This is something we would like to improve but because Prvic is an island we only have a dial up connection. The high prices relate to Croatia Telecoms charges. We hope to have wi-fi once the island has a broadband facility. Obviously it is dis-heartening to hear one of our guests has been disappointed with their stay. And we would like to address problems whenever they arise. I would stress that we have a large number of guests who return here frequently, both to stay in the hotel and use the restaurant. In two years of business we have had some very positive feed back. We had very good reviews not only in Time Out ("Restaurant Val serves excellent Med fare on a waterfront terrace") but in Rough guide to Croatia, "12 tastefully furnishes air conditioned rooms with original details including cool stone interiors and wooden shutters," and Cadogan, "best small hotel in the region perfect for a bout of stylish escapism" We are also listed in the new edition Alastair Sawday's Special places to stay in Croatia. We value feed back from all our customers. In this particular case we had no idea of Marci16's concerns. None were raised during his visit. Perhaps some of these issues could have been resolved during Marci 16s stay. We would like to take this opportunity for him to contact us directly and address any problems further, and perhaps offer some compensation. Yours sincerely, Filip Horvat Owner Hotel Maestral, Prvic Luka.

I stayed here for a week and was overwhelmed by the helpfulness of the staff. I was part of a swimming holiday organised by SwimTrek and had a room to myself.
The breakfast was very good with as much as you wanted from a great selection of cheese, ham, eggs, fruit, cereals, yoghurt, etc. Service was with a smile as well!
The hotel is right beside the water so you can sit and enjoy the views either in the sun or shade. I loved the island because there were no cars so it is extremely peaceful and unspoilt. It isn’t one’s typical seaside holiday resort but very restful and the hotel staff made one feel very comfortable.
The rooms were very clean and the shower was good.
All delightful!

We spent a week doing a Swimtrek based in this peaceful village hotel. Phillip, Dado and Ivan were always helpful and hospitable - Dado always had our rosé ready for us when we arrived back in the afternoon from our swims. Our room was clean and comfortable with enough room for two of us with our suitcases. The bells did ring outside our room on the hour but we found we didn't notice after the first night - particularly with the shutters closed - not the windows. Breakfast was simple but sufficient, and Ivan makes good espresso coffee! The restaurant was very good and the view over the harbour was a delight.

We stayed at this hotel as part of a SwimTrek vacation. It is located on the idyllic island of Prvic Luka, a car-free gem on the Dalmatian Coast. It's a really fine place to stay, with a very nice restaurant and an outdoor terrace that you could comfortably spend a lifetime on.
