Tucked away in the exceedingly quiet village of Kingston, the Dolphin Inn is like entering a set of "Pirates of the Caribbean" before they set sail. You'll get a very friendly welcome from Geoff behind the bar, who seems to virtually run the pub single handed doing the cooking as well. The real ales were all kept in good nick...

I stayed at the Dolphin for one night while walking the coast path. The room was clean with a bath, TV and coffee/tea making facilities. The evening meal and breakfast were freshly cooked and the service was quick. The proprietor is a dude, friendly and relaxed and went out of his way to help me with information and taxis. Ok...

We stopped at the Dolphin Inn during our walk and were shocked at how rude and unhelpful the barman was. The beer was good and the place was ok but if you can (not always easy in Devon) go somewhere else!

After a fantastic Burn's Night 5 course dinner at the Dolphin we booked a table for Valentine's night. Well we weren't disappointed. A good choice of menu for all three courses and everything we ordered was top quality cuisine all prepared from basic ingredients by the head chef...... But nothing on our plates was "basic". Home smoked chicken, vichyssoise, succulent...

Called in for lunch after a walk on the beach. Greeted by the barman and someone in chef's whites who joked about the chef not having arrived from Essex so he was having to do the food. Menu very basic so ordered sandwiches with white bread. They arrived after a considerable wait and were made with brown bread. We didn't...

We've just returned from a short break in the South Hams, what a great place this is to stay. A warm welcome awaited us. The landlord is a lovely man and the barman was great too.The pub itself is traditional and imho perfect. No jukebox, fruit machine or TV. (Good job.) It has great staff, great beer and a great...

If you are walking the coastal path and need to stop for lunch, you can't really go wrong here. Just an honest village local. But welcoming. Enjoyed crab sandwich and chips with an excellent pint. Came in with muddy walking boots on and they were surprised we took them off - 'dogs cant take their shoes off' said the landlord....

Whilst staying at a cottage within Kingston, we frequented the Dolphin Inn for food and drink. The pub was a quaint village pub which served basic but tasty pub grub and good beer. The locals and the landlord made us and our dogs feel very welcome

Fantastic little find, lovely cosy accommodation at a very reasonable price, the pub is very quaint and the local clientele very friendly, I will certainly be staying here again. Food was very good - excellent breakfast and home cooked evening meals.

Have stayed here twice before and like the charm of the country pub. However we were very disappointed with the lack of choice, quality and presentation of the breakfast. The evening meals were very good. It is a real shame as it has an excellent location.
