This is the saddest review I ever had to write. Because this place is beautiful. It's an amazing location, a beautiful house with great rooms and a delicious breakfast. So far so good. We stayed here in the end of October. The heating didn't work. That was ok, after one cold night the manager brought us little electric heaters. The next evening, there was no water (no showers, no toilets, nothing). Again, we are understanding - it is an old house. But I would at least expect to be offered botteled water for brushing teeth, water buckets from the water basin in the garden to use in the toilet or such - but nothing happened, as if that were a totally normal situation. When we enquired about the water situation, we were told that they were not sure whether they could fix it the next day. We still reacted very understanding, but stated that we would expect a price reduction or some other compensation, if we would have to stay a weekend without water. We stayed here for a week in July and on the whole would say that it was very good value for money, with a few minor issues.

For context, as we understood it the apartments have been recently taken over by a family who run an excellently rated B&B in Lucca itself (Principe Calaf). Thus, the breakfast provided was good - most days eggs, cold meats, fruit, fresh bread, cereals, juice, good coffee and pastries. The apartment was clean, the bed comfortable and the linen and towels clean. The minor issues were that we lacked storage for our clothes, only one of the windows had a mosquito net and there were no blackout curtains or shutters.
The pool was lovely, very clean, and the gardens were nice with beautiful views, but both were slightly let down by shabby plastic furniture. The location of the apartments is great, a five minute drive to a medium sized supermarket and other shops within the village, a twenty minute drive to Lucca which has lots of lovely shops and...
