My advice to the reader is to visit West Farm, Appledore whenever in North Devon. It is a most delightful family home and the welcome given by Gail & Peter Sparkes warm and kind. Peter meets those travelling by rail at Barnstaple station. On your arrival Gail is at the house to greet you and show you to your room(s).... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and agree that the place was clean and the bedroom (garden room) very comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent. Although Gail provided early morning tea, the lack of tea making facilities was an inconvenience. But the overriding factor was the ever present smell of cigarette smoke in the house.

We stayed at the West Farm only 1 night, but would have enjoyed to stay longer. Our room, the one with the half poster, was very large, quiet and comfortable. The ensuite bathroom fine. What a gem of a place ! Gail was most welcoming bringing us tea in her beautiful garden. The room was first class, spacious, light and tastefully decorated with very comfy beds! bathroom excellent also ,although a shower would be a great addition.
