Situated in a smallish town with rural backdrop. A low key town which is relaxing. A bit secluded if you want to get out and about unless you hire a car. Beautiful views overlooking mountains and fields. Short 10 minutes walk to town. Basic accomodation but very clean. Always plenty of sunbeds. Drinks and food at bar reasonable prices. The best thing about this place is that it is so friendly and safe. The staff were genuine and lovely. Being a small place, everybody was friendly without being in your face. I would feel quite happy to stay here as a single person, and there were a few. We all got on great. Apartments with a big heart. The only downside was that the mozzies loved us too! The local tourist train ride was the best trip I have been on in. Book it!

Stayed at Pothos for 2 weeks 27th Sept- 11th Oct. Was made most welcome from the very start. Had ground floor No 5 & was impressed with the size , large room ,balcony & full size corner shower with glass screen, only thing was as with most holiday apartments around the world was the very limited cooking & the electric rings were looking a bit old & tired but this never affected me as all I done was boil the supplied kettle for my coffee. 8 Min walk across the salt flat road / path & you were at the great beach another few minutes & you were in village with great choice of Tavarna's & Restraunts. Had some good nights in the bar with other guests & chatting to Dimtris. Thankyou everyone & hope to see you nexr year.

The family and all the staff went out of their way from my arrival to departure to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. Even offering advice on local walks, places to eat and also the best trips. The rooms were very clean, with daily mais service, with the exception of Sunday.

Another wonderful holiday at the Pothos. Looked after again by Dennis, Dimitris and the family. Great location with wonderful country views and a lovely room. The food is good value as well as the drink. Cannot wait for next year.

just returned from a 2week stay at pothos hotel.to begin with this is not a hotel for young people, the majority of guests there were of retirement age or close to it.this was fine by us and they were a good friendly bunch many of whom were frequent visitors and were always helpful and informative about the area.the hotel is situated behind the salt flats and the thomas cook assessment of '200 m to the resort centre'is way out,its around 800 m depending on which route you take.the owners and staff, dimitri, dennis and spiros are friendly, helpful and good interesting company if you are around during the evening.our room was very spacious with a double and single bed which were very firm but comfortable.there are plenty of electric sockets and the the cooking facilities although basic are no worse than we have experienced in other greek hotels.the only issue we had was the ridiculous wet room concept in the bathroom,i cant understand why hotels refuse to fix a shower curtain to stop the room getting flooded every time.the room was kept clean and beds changed every 3 days as were the towels.in general the whole hotel was very clean and tidy, the pool area was also clean and there were plenty of good quality sunbeds.the food was of a high standard too and reasonably priced, 6 euro for an english breakfast, although a better ,larger double is excellent at fidelios in town for 7.50.we had a problem with the aircon initially but it was because i was too dumb to work it.dimtri was kind enough to come up and demonstrate the problem,i didnt shut the bacony door,he was very polite and tactful in doing so too.there was some evening entertainment but no geek night as mentioned by thomas cook's review but there is an excellent one operated from the town on what they call Trainaki night.overall we had a lovely time and would go back at some point but probably for a week as there is not much to do in zakynthos if you have been there before.
