The drive down to the hotel, I wondered “what the hell had I booked?!” But upon arrival, the receptionist was really welcoming and friendly and even gave us a menu to take to our room, so we could decide what to have before coming to the restaurant (we are travelling with a toddler!) as the restaurant was due to close in 45 minutes. Bedroom was a really good size, beds so comfy. Phenomenal shower, with great water pressure. Room has all the amenities you need: kettle, mini bar/fridge, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, wash cloths, everything. Was so so impressed with the hotel. Dinner was then fantastic, so tasty and again, really good service. We were gutted to leave! Would definitely return and would definitely recommend! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Our stay was very comfortable and enjoyable. The room was spotless, with exceptionally comfy beds, fresh linens, and towels. Parking was hassle-free with our hire car.
Both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant were fantastic, with attentive staff regularly replenishing breakfast items. The view from our room was stunning, and we enjoyed a soak in the clean, hot tub, though we didn’t catch the lights.
However, the cushion inserts smelled unpleasant and needed more frequent washing. The warm yellow room lighting felt dim during dark winter days, making visibility a bit challenging. I wouldn’t let this out me off , and would come again.

We stayed for a total of 5 nights in one of the lake view rooms. The rooms were spacious, very clean and enjoyed a fabulous view out over the lake (brilliant for watching the Northern lights on a clear night). Staff were super friendly & helpful and the hotel location allows for easy access to either the city or to access national routes to Vik, Golden Circle etc. Would highly recommend.

Wow! What a fabulous hotel in an amazing location! All of the staff were so friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay one to remember. We arrived prior to our room being ready but we were welcomed into the lounge area where we were able to relax and were made to feel at home. Soup and a toasted sandwich were provided to us free of charge. The room (superior double) was exceptional, and had the most amazing views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Everything we could possibly need was included in the room. Safe was provided free of charge. Very comfortable beds and cosy linen. The selection at breakfast was outstanding - there was even caviar available on one of the days! We ate in the restaurant on 2 nights of our stay, and both meals were delicious. We were looked after by Rokas on both nights and he deserves a special mention - he is a credit to the team! Taxis are expensive but once we realised where the nearest bus stop was, we used the bus service. A 5 star stay! Would 100% recommend!

Just back from a short break in Iceland, we decided to stay out of the main city for some peace and calm and we certainly got it.
This is a very laid back hotel, staff are fantastic, very helpful and happy to chat about the local area. Mikael and Rokas looked after us really well.
We had the four course dinner during our stay which was fabulous, sweet potato and ginger soup infused with basil and parsley oil, a small cod dish and then trout and almonds. Excellent food.
We did venture into Reykjavik during our stay but undoubtedly the highlight was the 5.7 mile walk around the lake by the hotel. We set off reasonably early after a hearty breakfast at the hotel, and experienced spectacular views of the Heimaas National Park, Helluvatn and the Bugda area.
One of the best kept secrets of the hotel is the hot tub which Rokas directed us to, which we used on several occasions, once under the Icelandic night sky. (regrettably no northern lights!!)
Many tourists are encouraged to go to the Blue Lagoon or Sky Lagoon but not far from the hotel we found Salalaug just £11.00 each(including towel hire) this is an excellent facility with a variety of different temperature hot tubs plus a 25 m pool for proper swimming and a steam room.
By definition the hotel is a bit off the beaten track, this gives it a lot of plus points. We don't drive abroad so taxi to and from airport was very expensive but once arrived we walked or got the bus (of which there are many and very regular, get the Klapp app) fixed fares for any journey about £3.00 per person.
We thoroughly enjoyed or stay at Kruines, top marks all round.

Quiet location, yet only 15 minutes by car to Reykjavik. Especially I appreciated the great introduction book in the room as well as the telephone - both items are removed in many hotels. Spacious and very functional room and good size working desk. Great that the hotel does not wake you up anymore in the night in case of Northern Light. A hotel that you enjoy staying in.

A secluded quiet sanctuary a short distance outside the bustle and noise of Reykjavik. It is an inter-generational family-run hotel that is lovingly looked after. The beds are excellent and the breakfast buffet amazing. It offers many quiet nooks, antiques and comfortable furniture. Also some quirky touches such as a stuffed bear and fox and stairs with wall finishing and lighting to resemble a lava flow. Our one improvement suggestion would be for larger blackout curtains as ours leaked light. A car is almost essential to get in/out of Reykjavik and touring but the hotel will also arrange tours for you. Oh. And a pair of sunglasses is also recommended for the breakfast restaurant as the light pouring in the windows is very powerful… but the panoramic views of the lake, its geese and mountains are worth it!

Hotel Kriunes is a cozy full service hotel/spa on the edge of a beautiful lake outside of Reykjavik. Our room was comfortable, quiet, and very clean, with plenty of outlets and good lighting. I am an artist and had a nice spot at the desk by the window where I could paint. The hotel provided great coffee all day and a delicious breakfast buffet that included a range of options. All rooms have a view of the lake and the night sky, where we saw the Northern Lights several times. It's actually a large facility, with two hot tubs, meeting rooms, and places for massage. I liked that the hotel was quiet, away from the bustle of the city. I was with a small group that included a van, but you'd probably want to rent a car if you decide to stay there on your own.

My stay at Hotel Kríunes was a unique and memorable experience. The journey to the hotel felt almost mystical, as we drove through what seemed like a residential area, eventually reaching a dead-end and then an off-road path. However, we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the hotel through a charming gate and well-maintained car park. The facility itself is beautiful and has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly, adding to the overall positive experience.
Our room was massive, featuring two separate rooms and a spacious bathroom. The provided robes, in addition to the usual towels, added an extra layer of comfort. The hotel's restaurant looked very inviting, and the live camera feed of the nearby erupting volcano was a fascinating touch, even though the eruption almost caused our flight to be canceled!
Due to an early flight, we didn't get a chance to try the breakfast, so I can't comment on that. Overall, staying at Hotel Kríunes was a very pleasant and comfortable experience, offering a perfect retreat to disconnect from the noise of the city.
Despite the description on booking.com, there was no facility to charge an EV at the hotel, which left me feeling a bit uneasy. Fortunately, there was a Tesla Supercharger nearby, about an 11-minute drive away, which was manageable but not as convenient as having a charging point on-site.

This hotel is a little away from town, making it very peaceful and quiet. We were very lucky to catch the aurora right in front of our room as this place have lesser light pollution. Room was very spacious and comfortable with a great view of the lake!

Sorry, we had a car so didn't need pickup. We did investigate a swim at Thinvellier NP and the nearest pickup location was a large service station about 8 min drive away.
I don’t think so but not sure, We went to the Blue Lagoon which is 45’ away. I have heard that there are community pools that locals use - you should contact the hotel
