The staff is friendly and helpful, by far the best part of the hotel. Overall I would say that the hotel is shabby chic at this point. They need to spend some $$. Rooms are charming but for the price (at the high end for Mcleod Ganj) they need to pay attention to details. Lots of little things were broken.... More

Bathroom desperately needs to be updated, damp - burst had not been sorted paint flaking from ceiling, cubicle shower floor broken up. Breakfast was cold and had to ask for it to be heated up. Could be a fabulous experience and insight into Tibetan culture but needs strong management and an input of cash.

Great charming hotel with extremely kind people. Perfectly located (1min from His Holiness Temple)and with great food variety , peaceful terrace and comfortable well decorated rooms. Highly recommended to everyone especially because, sleeping here, your money will help the Tibetan Goverment which is the owner of this beauty.

We had a very bad experience staying here. We were on a holiday celebrating our anniversary and this place ruined it for us. The rooms are deceptively small from the pictures online. The staff are not warm and welcoming. A lot of noise from the street. Not at all worth the high price of the rooms.

Beautiful hotel in lovely location. Staff very welcoming and helpful. We could walk to local attractions easily and local restaurants were very good. Always felt safe. We learned a lot about Tibet and theThekchen Choling Temple. Trips out to the foothills of the Himalayas were wonderful. Glorious views.

We were not expecting this to be luxury, so had set expectations realistically. There were some lovely points; the staff at reception were detached but pleasant. The room,(Amdo) was decorated with wonderful murals on walls and blinds and was spacious, with a small terrace on which to sit. It was comfortable, with free Wi-Fi. Chonor House is very centrally placed... More

A nice hotel with character and charm let down by the fact that throughout the night dogs bark. These are close to the hotel, a few yards away. Once one starts it sets the others off. It also gives a new meaning to the dawn chorus. Otherwise it is a nice hotel, good food and service, very characterful rooms. One... More

Stayed at Chonor House in May this year. I was very keen to stay at the place, after going through the photos. And, I was not disappointed. Yes, there were a few issues, but they weren't a deal breaker. To begin with, I had made a request for a spacious room in my budget, and was provided the Bird of... More
