It's a basic, typical rural Japanese ryokan - rather rickety old building, lacking in charm. But the bedroom was OK - spacious, with en-suite loo and washbasin, and a comfortable bed (no pillow, but there's a cushion you can use), which makes it better than average for rural Japan. There's free WiFi, but no fridge; green tea, but no coffee...

I loved staying here. I spent two nights here two summers ago, and it will always stick in my memory. To start, the staff was very kind and even gave us a ride up the mountain to the hiking trail starting point. We recently returned from a wonderful getaway to Kozushima. We loved the beaches on this island, and Yamashita Ryokan Bekkan (Annex) is situated very conveniently for access to two of the best beaches.
