Due to cancelled holiday plans abroad due to COVID we opted for a staycation at home. We booked the 5 day mini vacation including dinner at both restaurants for 2 evenings.
We loved every minute of our stay. From the excellent breakfast with champagne each day, the peacefulness of the location, comfortable room with view directly over the adjoining golf course, swimming in the pool every day, and to top it all, the excellent food in both the pop-up restaurant outdoors and the beautiful setting of the Michelin star restaurant. Food was truly delicious on both occasions.
Service is second to none. Very attentive and friendly, nothing too much trouble and when asked for something extra at your room, it was arranged and brought to the door within minutes.
Note it’s not cheap but worth every penny. You get what you pay for. Would highly recommend and we would return again.
A couple of small negatives. I missed a proper hairdryer in the room which I would expect in a 5 star hotel, especially needed when visiting the pool each day (vs. the wall-fitted one in the bathroom which is no longer from this time, plus pretty useless for women with longer hair)!
The bathroom tiles need to be replaced as they were looking very tired. The bathroom fittings were modern and appeared new.
These 2 little points did not take away from our overall enjoyment.

We stayed here two nights and enjoyed it a lot. The room was very nice with a lovely view, dinner was very good and the staff in the restaurant were friendly and helpful.
After the first night and dinner we wanted to make reservations for another such a great dinner. We were then told at the reception that both restaurants were fully booked and we could look in the village for restaurants. At no point we, being hotel guest, were told it was important to book for dinner because of limited capacity due to COVID-19. Also they did not try to find a solution like offering a table in the lounge and ordering from the lounge menu or to do a late afternoon high tea. When we protested then we did get a booking in a the Michelin starred restaurant. We had a great dinner and noticed it was never full....
For breakfast we chose the time slot 9:30-11:00, on our last day we got asked to leave at 10:50 because of preparations for lunch. When I said breakfast is til 11am and that I was waiting for my husband to come back they said we need to clean for lunch.
These two examples make me think that the hotel staff should be more aware of the quote at the reception:

Wonderful Hotel surrounded by a picture perfect golf club and forest. The rooms are spacious, recently renovated and extremely comfortable. The main restaurant diner De Heeren van Harinxma is wonderful. The food is innovative and extremely well accomplished. The reviews spoke very highly of this restaurant and we were not disappointed. The menu is set but you can choose how many plates you wish to have. All were very well crafted with local fresh produce and it’s difficult to describe how well accomplished and tasty every dish was. The vaccination certificate was required as was the use of antibacterial gel before entering the restaurant which is very comforting. Overall a wonderful place with top quality service and an extraordinary restaurant.

Last time we were here probably 10 years ago. Again another super stay. Staff is very friendly and helpful. All things are done with a very personal touch with an eye for detail. Good bitterballs. Loverly breakfast.

Great place. Beautiful location, very friendly staff and food is amazing. We tried both restaurants and the bar all great options and big portions. The amenities are great. Pool and spa are amazing. You can rent bikes and stroll around the forest or the cutest little town close by.

This was our second year we went from Belgium to this hotel in the North of Holland.
There are a number of things that stand out that made us go back here : 1) it's a very nice hotel in a very tranquil and peaceful environment, easy to access. It's located 3K from the highway 2) The hotel staff is very professional and skilled. 3) The restaurant in the hotel is the only in Friesland with Michelin star. You can walk from your hotel room straight into the restaurant and back within seconds. 4) The golfcourse just next door is excellent.
Probably the only thing still to mention is that it is not cheap. However for us to make the journey once a year, yes please, see you all in 2025.

We enjoyed a one night stay and Dinner with colleagues in this gem in the North of Netherlands. General Manager Marc van Gulick and his team pampered is all the way from beginning till the end. Another example of an independent property with a devoted hotelier which makes the difference in Hospitality. One night is to short to enjoy all the facilities, so we definitely will return to relax and reload

Dinner 5 course good but service slow. Comfortable bed but suite could do with refurbishment. A little tired looking. on check in told room would be ready within 30min. Returned after 45 min & room check still not done but on complaint it was organised within 5 min?

Great Hotel with very kind staff, fantastic kitchen and very nice wines. The room was excellent. The park around the hotel is beautiful like whole Friesland is and when you want to play a game of golf there is a beautiful golfclub opposite.

Lovely luxurious hotel in beautiful grounds. We stayed off season. The pool was lovely part in doors, part out. Staff were excellent. We took our dog too. We didn’t appreciate you could not dine with him so we were sad not to try the Michelin star food. You can only take dogs in the bar. However staff set us up a table in the bar and served the Bistro menu. We had a young man serving us who was excellent. The bistro food was outstanding. The grounds were extensive and perfect for dog walks.
