Good value for money at Grossbach. Friendly staf, relatively fast service at the restaurant, good food, but unfortunately a too hard matress drops it to 4/5. Peaceful and beautiful surroundings are good for a small hike. Free parking down the road.
The hotel has plenty of free parking and free wifi. The approach to the hotel is quite steep and there are steps to the front door. Not for wheelchair users. Our room was lovely with a wonderful view of the Black Forest. The family who owns the hotel were very friendly and helpful. We had a delicious meal in their restaurant served by Hrvoje. We wished we could have stayed longer. Pets are welcome.
Room was very spacious, comfortable enough bed, very good amount of storage space for luggage etc. bathroom is very basic and there was no hair dryer in the bathroom, had to ask for one and was given the smallest hairdryer I think I have ever seen....although remarkably powerful for the size. Sadly we slept through breakfast so I can’t comment. The hotel is perfectly fine, nothing special but perfectly fine and the location is beautiful. For our next visit to the region however we will stay at the Waldeck where we had 2 amazing meals during our short stay!
It is a nice situated, midclass hotel/restaurant. The rooms are quit big and standard equiped. The owners are very, very frendly ans oh so helpfull. No mater what you want to know they can inform you or they look it up for you. A very big plus is the free HochSchwardzwald card what give you lots of free admissions an rebates. The restaurant is ok. I've ate a Wiiner schnitsel and zwiebelrostgebrate and it tasted great. The beds are very good (but that's very personal). So, if your looking for a nice prized, warm welkom and pleasant hotel............. just do it and enjoy the great scenery. Close by is the Feldberg and the Herzoghorn (Germans highest and second highest mountains) with e spectacular view. You can on a clear day even see the Swiss alps.
Great hotel, I was there with a group. friendly staff and most of all extremely helpful. Rutger and Stefanie and their wonderful staff made us feel welcome long before we actually checked in! Rooms are spacious with great balconies. Staying in the Black forest gave us many free attractions plus free use of ebikes and also a free membership in the nearby Spa centre. Lovely walks alone and with Ecotours. Simply an unforgettable experince!
15 of us stayed here. We had originally booked another hotel in the village which had gone bust and the German Tourist Board found us this last minute replacement. It was brill. We all had wonderful rooms with balconies or terraces. Some rooms were like ballrooms, complete with chandeliers. They were perfect for our get togethers. Bathrooms were very clean and there was always plentiful hot water. Free wi fi was accessible throughout the hotel. Breakfast was excellent, only thing missing was plentiful fresh fruit. We ate in quite often in the evenings and these meals were also good. Restaurant staff were lovely. The Dutch owners were very helpful and we all benefitted from the tourist passes that gave us free travel on buses, boats, trains, cycle hire, and even free entry to museums, a pitch and put course and the local swimming baths. We made full use of all of these. We enjoyed sightseeing as far afield as Freiburg and Bad Sackingen and we enjoyed the local walks up into the mountains and along to St Blesian. Weather was perfect, as were the cake shops!…
Our walking Group stayed at this lovely Hotel for eleven nights at very short notice. [ Thanks to the Saint Blasien Tourist Office] after we had been let down badly by the management of another Hotel in Menzenschwand. [ The Grunenberg]. Not one single complaint from fifteen people. Rooms excellent, food excellent, staff superb, each and every one of them. Our hosts, a young Dutch couple could not have been more helpful, we wish them every success in the future, Many thanks to all concerned. Highly recommended.
Great staff from the Netherlands, the husband and wife team bought and renovated this place from rack n ruin. Bathrooms and decor are marvellous. Breakfast- lots of choice & good coffee. Wifi very limited but works best in the bar. So friendly and welcoming, after our stays in Italy this came as a welcome relief. Parking right outside is bang on. Will come back here in ski season!
we stayed at the hotel on august 2014 for 5 nights as two families with 3 children each . both families received family rooms which were very comfortable , as there is a main door which makes it as a small apartment . the rooms are very big, clean and traditionaly decorated like ski hotel rooms but there is no elevator in the hotel. the hotel is managed by the sweetest couple in the world who are always there, happy to fulfill your request with a smile . the restaurant serves delicious food that can match any taste (I myself am a vegetarian) , breakfast was not so rich but as we hint it to the hotel owner , he really considered our recommendation and added fresh vegetables the next morning . the location is amazing ,extremely quiet and a great view , the whole black forest is at your fit and there is also a small waterfall running at the side of the hotel giving it a romantic and pastoral ambiance . internet is very slow and there are only german channels on tv , but the owner promised that this is going to be changed soon . the schwarzwald cards were waiting for us as we arrived which gave us immediate option to explore all the activities covered by it (all activities such as the galaxy park , todtnaue slides , steinwasser park and more are free of charge once showing this card) - I will no doubt return to this hotel .…
It's the second time we are spending time in this hotel (now on summer). Good service and owner are really gentle and helpful. We recommend highly this hotel. On middle of the area, closed places to visit or walking: Sankt Blasien, Todtnau, Feldberf, Wasserfall in Menzenschwand... The Schwartzwald card is included on each package and the Radon Revital Bad is at about 200m by walk. One word: Enjoy !!!
