My wife and I came here for our honeymoon and it was the most amazing experience. Every corner of this resort is aesthetically perfect, every single one of your senses will be seduced. You are surrounded by natural lush greenery, with the perpetual sound of the forest allowing all your troubles to melt away. We stayed at a pool villa which was the best decision, with our own private pool surrounded by nature, right next to beautiful trees and a flowing stream which runs through the resort. The staff attended to our every need and even go the extra mile to make sure you have everything you need to enjoy your experience. You will not have to leave the resort, the food at the restaurants are amazing, there are nature walks, spa, non-motorized beach sports, top class facilities - you are basically in a sanctuary that you will not want to leave. Only issue is that this heaven on earth will spoil every other resort experience for you! Thank you for such a magical experience!

Stayed here recently and lucky enough we got up graded to the Canopy Suite. I have to say this hotel is just flawless from the day we made the booking till we were dropped off at Langkawi Airport for us to catch our flight back home! Our room was on the top most floor right at the corner facing the beautiful adult pool, a view of the Andaman Sea and the main lobby. Inside it, we have everything including a dining table for four, a couch, four day beds, two bathrooms and free flow of minibar items. As we do not drink liquor, soft drinks and sparkling water, the room service team was so kind enough to stock our minibar with loads of Sole Mineral Water and they consistently replenished team as we drank it. The popcorn and Beryl’s chocolate came handy as well every time we got back from the beach needing something to munch. Oh... if you are staying there, you gotta try the Gulai House, superb experience and food! Suhaimi, the Manager there was so helpful. Not only that he was able to suggest to us what should we eat, he was also able to explain the Malay food preparation taboo! Such a knowledgable person! The breakfasts were also great every time we had it. They have scramble egg with lobsters! The spread wasn’t the biggest that I have seen but it was a high quality spread and everything tasted good. The beach club has great food too! A must try would be the Wagyu Beef burger and Catch of the day. The beach is the best in Langkawi as it is flat and sandy. I couldn’t find any rocks or stones that could hurt our feet. But do be careful of jellyfish although seasonal. The spa... OMG! You gotta try it, it is having someone massaging you in the rainforest. How wonderful that was for us! On our last day, we got an extended check out till 5pm but at 3.30pm we were notified by the airline that our flight has been retimed to 9.00pm. As we were rushing back from the spa, I informed the receptionist (a lady from the Philippines) about it and she immediately told me that I can relax in the room and suggested that I should only check out at 7pm. This is what I called immaculate service! The limo driver that drove us to the airport was also good as he drove carefully making sure that we are comfortable as the road was winding at some areas. We had a real great stay and would like to thanked everyone especially Johan of HR, Yoke May who gave a historical briefing of Datai (very knowledgable although she just joined Datai like 2 months ago) and everyone else whom I’ve not able to remember their names. We are looking forward to go back for another holiday there. Our only challenge is to find free time, of course we will find somehow.

We had five days in this superb resort hotel, and I can only add to the chorus of high praise from other reviewers. Superb location, beautiful buildings, low-key luxurious decor, impeccable service, good range of dining outlets. The food was plentiful, excellent, varied and imaginative with a special treat being the buffalo mozzarella from a local Langkawi dairy - a totally unexpected delight on a small and remote Asian island. Enormous attention to detail, right down to the room key which has an electronic sensor enclosed in waterproof plastic bracelet - you can leave it on when you swim. With some mobility limits, the accessibility options were excellent, especially in the main block. There are lifts to all levels, ramps where appropriate, and golf buggies (with drivers) readily available for trips to and from the beach, and to other parts of the resort. Altogther a truly memorable stay.

A fantastic location, staff and services are excellent to the most minute detail. An environmentally ethical ethos, and it shows in the surrounding flora and Fauna. Loved every minute! Surrounded by lush rainforest and bordered by a curved golden beach, everything is perfect. Spa facilities are immersed in the rainforest, so treatments can be done with nothing but the noise of the wildlfe and running streams. Can't wait to come back!

My husband and I have been in living in Malaysia for almost 3 years and have travelled extensively across it (and also throughout much of Asia) and I can say with total confidence that the Datai is easily the best hotel in Malaysia, and one of the best in South East Asia. From the second we arrived it surpassed every single expectation we had, and continued to blow our minds repeatedly during our 3 day stay. The location is the best spot in Langkawi (the stunning Datai Bay) and the huge, private property is home to a rainforest that is millions of years old, and absolutely brimming with the most beautiful wildlife you can imagine. Dusky leaf monkeys, hornbills, rare Colugos and hundreds of butterflies can be seen all over the property without even trying to see them and just made the whole experience even more special. The hotel itself is committed to sustainability, the local environment and overall ecological best practice (an absolute breath of fresh air in Asia - Malaysia especially) and there is little to no single use plastic or waste anywhere once you set foot through the gates. The recent renovation means the grounds, rooms and facilities are stunning and beautifully kept, with high quality fittings and thoughtful touches everywhere you look. They have literally thought of everything. The food is mostly amazing (a few bits here and there that were only okay but very little). The main bar can be a bit slow even when completely empty and with loads of staff but that was our only gripe for the entire stay. But overall, the Datai's crowning glory is the service. The people working there, without exception are friendly, accommodating, efficient, thoughtful and so professional - again, quite rare for Malaysia. We had particularly wonderful experiences with Sham and Damia, who were absolutely sensational, but every other staff member we encountered was also exceptional. We already had been treated like royalty from the minute we arrived, but when they found out it was our anniversary they took it even further (beautiful cake, rose petal turn down, candles, champagne, the works!) and we were blown away. The restaurants are also a cut above, we tried the Thai restaurant and the Dining room, and both were of a really high standard (food and service) and the ambiance was also amazing. The service in the Dining Room was actually world class and we were very impressed, and their knowledge of food and wine was again, by far the best we've encountered on the island. For our whole short stay, every need we could have possibly had was met with a smile and we had the most relaxing, luxurious and wonderful time. Cannot recommend the Datai more highly, just book it.
