Period of Stay : 3 Days 2 nights Overall stay : I used to travel to Langkawi few times a year pre covid, but always never get a chance to stay in Datai. But this time onwards, it will be Datai and only Datai. From the time of check in, everything was smooth and seamless with the help of Shayal. He was very accommodating to my request and was super friendly and patient while giving us a room tour. Kudos to Wenzel and Team for constantly keeping the rooms in perfect conditions that makes the stay super comfortable. On the 2nd day we were upgraded to the Beach Villa, met the most amazing butlers. Oscar (Head butler) and Wong (My Butler) they are such a sweet heart. Trying to make it easy for us, especially taking note on the dietary request (no chicken), he prepared an afternoon tea that suits us and helps us in our spa arrangement, overall it was perfect and seamless. He also constantly check on us if there are additional items we need or are we okay and comfortable. Thank you for taking care of us! Food and Beverage : 1. Beach Club Love the hosts there as they are all so friendly and attentive. We ordered Vietnamese Roll which was superb! And the Grilled Jumbo Prawns which was not quite a fond on as the prawns weren't very fresh (heads and legs of prawns were black and the flesh was mushy/powdery) 2nd day - ordered Wagyu beef burger and vietnamese roll again! IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!! 2. The Pavilion - Zero complaints as the food is so yummy and the hosts are super accommodating, explained the menu and how it is served and share their recommendations as I was being quite indecisive. 3. Breakfast at The Dining Room - Super love the idea of how the chefs serves you on the buffet counter to minimize human contact on the serving spoon, definitely super well thought on that as times like that we are so cautious about health and safety. - Food selection there is SUPERB! Everything was yummy! Especially the hot food menu. Managed to tried out every one of them. - Host there is super friendly, they are so genuine that it shines a passion for the industry of hospitality. Definitely feel well taken care of. 3. In room dining - The satay is SUPERB! Would reorder another if i wasn't full. - The host was very helpful, as i wanted something salty to munch on while having a drink, hence i told him, if it is possible, can i get some peanuts or some crackers? , He brought along some nuts for me! which i thought it was lovely. Watersports Club - Super friendly and very patient in explaining. - Their super KUDOS behaviour was the proactiveness to kayak out to the sea and pick up water bottles, log, or anything that would potentially harm the cleanliness of the sea. Thank You. Overall, it has been a super lovely experience in Datai that it really is a home away from home. Trust me, it is not an ordinary comfortable 5 star hotel, but it has so much to it, the place, environment and most importantly is the people and the hospitality. It shaped the entire hotel to have its own taste! Extraordinary and Super Amazing! To all the staff in Datai from the rooms, restaurant hosts, chefs in the kitchen, host in the public area, environment/garden keeper, engineer, front office, concierge, and every possible person that operates Datai to be at it's best. Thank you so much for all your effort. My stay and experience wouldn't be as memorable and comfortable without everyone! Will definitely come back for more!

In 2016, my wife and I spent our honeymoon at Beach Villa no. 10 and it was one of the most memorable resort experience we've ever had. We promised that we would eventually return back to the Datai to celebrate our anniversary (as mentioned in my previous review!). 5 years on, and as soon as interstate travel was allowed again, we returned with our 10-month old daughter. Now I really don't know if this was a coincidence or whether it was planned by the staff, but we ended up staying in the exact same Beach Villa no. 10! We love how the resort was able to accommodate our baby needs - she ate and slept so well during the entire stay. We enjoyed every dish we ordered at The Pavillion, Dining Room, Beach Club and of course room service. The quality of food and service was just as how we remembered it. My wife took a spa treatment and it was just as relaxing as before (maybe even more so now) and was very pleased with her therapist Fatihah. I enjoyed the newly refurbished gym especially using the boxing heavy bag which is not commonly found in most resorts. I would like to thank the personal trainer (I couldn't recall his name but he is from Sabah) for helping me with the post-workout stretches. Another new facility we checked out was The Lab which I think is a really nice touch to show guests how environmentally responsible the resort is. I left the place being reminded how I need to recycle more often. There were some very minor hiccups we experienced and it was mostly facilities related - our villa entrance door was very difficult to open, the wardrobe sliding doors got jammed and the window blinds would take some time to respond. When we dined at the Beach Club, the lights went out a number of times possibly due to a power trip. Given the pandemic and the multiple lockdowns our country went through, this was all understandable. A minor service feedback was that our airport transfer driver was not as welcoming and friendly compared to other staff (and the driver from our honeymoon). Otherwise, the staff was just as fantastic as before. We used the babysitter service (Arisha) during one of our dinners and our baby was so comfortable with her. Despite being two hours only, it was our very first time leaving our baby alone with a stranger but there was so much trust during our interactions that we did not worry at all. We are so grateful to our butler Mr Syazwan for making the three of us have such a pleasurable experience during the trip. His communication, responsiveness, friendliness, patience and reliability were all excellent throughout our stay. In addition to correctly getting our reservations and food orders, he was able to swiftly sort out the minor room issues we had faced. We felt that he was a lot better than the butler from our first stay. When we return back to The Datai, we definitely would want him to be our butler again! In conclusion, our stay was (once again) a 6 out of 5 stars!

Set in the Rain Forrest this hotel has the best cleanliness of any I have ever stayed, friendly well trained staff nothing is too much trouble. Whilst it is considered a high end hotel you get exactly what you pay for, first class! Activities include Wind Surfing, Sailing, Canoeing, Snorkeling etc. to keep inline with the nature around you there are no motorized watersports. If you play golf, then the Els Course will be a joy with manicured greens, trimmed Fairways and spectacular views, it is easy to see how this has been voted the number one golf course in the world. The GM of the hotel is French and that can be easily seen in the meticulous attention to detail with wonderful food and a wine list to die for. So did we like the hotel.... no, we loved it!

Our first trip to Datai and it absolutely exceeds our expectations! We chose this resort for its unique charm and secluded location tucked away in the rainforest. Everything was amazing, from the service, room, amenities and food! We dined at Gulai, Pavillion, the Beach and Dining Room. They were all very very food and way above average. Breakfast selection and taste was excellent. As for the room, we booked the Rainforest Villa, but was upgraded to the Canopy Suite. Although it’s much larger, but it’s ambience and category is just ain’t the same what we expect it to be- tucked in the rainforest. We hope to experience the villa in the rainforest in our next trip! Overall we had a wonderful trip. Thank you to the amazing team in Datai!

We just returned from a blissful 4- night stay at The Datai…..our first getaway since the Covid lockdown. The hotel is gorgeous and our rooms in the Datai Suite couldn’t be more delightful and first rate. The entire hotel staff were warm and welcoming, the food was spectacular (especially at the Thai restaurant, Pavilion), and the beach-lazing was dreamy. The gem of our stay there was Tony, our butler, who anticipated our every need and made this much-needed time away from home even more delightful. We wanted to bring him home with us when we left! It was a much needed respite after the harshness of the pandemic lockdowns and our trip couldn’t have been lovelier.
