Had an amazing experience here at the Datai. Langkawi is beautiful anyway and staying at the Datai made it more so. The service is very good and the facilities brilliant. I enjoyed a long kayaking experience to explore the islands and surroundings. The food at their Thai restaurant and beach bar are also excellent. The breakfast buffet was very good with the best French toast I have had anywhere. I had the daal and chappatti for breakfast twice as it is that good. The staff are friendly and the accommodation (we selected the rainforest villa) was very good. A few nights it rained so expect twigs and monkeys to fall on your roof! Part and parcel of staying in a rainforest and be prepared for bugs and other creatures. I have dropped a rating due to receiving cold eggs one morning and then under cooked shaksuka on another. This was a minor issue in the grand scheme of how good the stay was and I would definitely return again.

Firstly, I would like to say a BIG THANK you to all of your team that we have encountered. We were there celebrating our long-postponed 10th year anniversary (due to covid restrictions) and to our surprised we were upgraded to a villa to celebrate our special day. All the team seem so happy to be working there and without a doubt it shows in their smile, and they care for every guest they come across. Special mention to our breakfast front of house Mr Shaiful, he always smiling and given us a world class service every morning. Great team should great leadership from the top. If there one thing I would take back with me if that a smile doesn't cost a penny and it will make all guest happy. I will ensure this is implemented in my place of work.

We visited The Datai for our honeymoon over 20 years ago and it has taken a long time to get back. From the arrival and collection from the airport, brought back amazing memories. For us it was a perfect place to unwind from our super busy lives. We booked a villa and it was perfect balance of quiet and space. The food and service was amazing. Like everything in life there where a few hicups which where soon sorted out via the all too helpful staff. The beach pool is a great spot to sit and relax, afternoons the team bring around little treats from the kitchen which is lovely. Also the turn down service is perfect and I am not sure what they spray on the sheets but its so good. Massages are perfect which we booked months in advance. Thanks team, so good.

So many positive things about our stay. The fellow running the place is on form. The rainforest villa was like living in a palace in the trees. Food was always good. Dev at the nature Centre is a gem. Dorothy did super yoga. Beach was nice with hobie cats. (Just needed surf!) Butterfly walk. Sustainability garden with bottle walls. Els golf course awesome - lost many balls. Best thing probably goes unnoticed by many is the Aussie architect kerry hills nod to Geoffrey Bawa in the grand staircase walk and the buildings. The place is surreal.

It was so great to be back to 'home' here and see so many new and familiar faces. This is we are lucky to have Wendy as our host to welcome us upon our arrivals and so nice to fulfil our requests with the room upgrade. She is so helpful and always hanging her beautiful smiles with her whenever she is attending to her guests. Hospitality and services are still as good as old times and topnotch for sure! We are more than happy to return to Datai again next year for our Anniversary or the birthday treat trip again. We really do love the turndown service in the Villa which is fabulous and calming. Last trip we did not get to try to dine in The Gulai because we had our 3 nights in Thai Pavilion which is my favourite and we decided to give a try at Gulai House this time and with so much of surprises there. Food is superb and staff - Afiq is so helpful in assisting us to place our orders as we are first time dine in here. We love everything here especially the nature and atmosphere to bring in the inner peace. Thank you once again to the Datai team, you guys are really amazing and wonderful. Keep up the good work and spirits !!!

We had a warm welcome by Amelia upon arrival! It was a lovely rainy day. Jannah served us the signature welcome drink with "bahulu" and pineapple compote at the lobby lounge. Shortly after we checked into our room with an awesome view. Very clean, hygienic and modern interior. As we were about to start our trip, we then found out that there is this water sports & recreation centre which allowed us to do kayaking, paddle boarding and hobie wave. Thank you Irfan & team for the kind hospitality and patience. We had Mukhris as our Crystal Creek guide too and it was a MUST GO attraction if you were to spend at least 2-3 nights there. He was such a wonderful guide! Not to forget all the delicious gourmet that we had during our stay, Shafiq was the best and knowledgeable host from the dining room together with Chef Chai during our fine dining. Ben and team from the beach club restaurant. Fadhlan & Afiq from the thai pavillion. We truly enjoyed our stay and thank you Jessie for recommending this resort to us and we look forward to be back again.

· We booked it with high expectations but also with some hesitation considering the (high) price. But all we can say now, is that we loved our 4 night stay here! It has exceed our expectations and for sure was worth the price. The staff was amazing, friendly and very professional. The hotel is so beautiful and everything is perfectly treated. The jungle surrounding the hotel and the hotel beach are amazing. Breakfast was very good. The restaurant food was delicious. I would suggest Datai Langkawi to anyone visiting Malaysia.

We are very disappointed about this hotel. It is very old one. Nobody talks about it unfortunatelly. There are insects, frogs everywhere😰. The prices are tooo high. They say that they have golf club. Great but novody tells that it is chargable. Breakfast is 3 points of 5. It is very far from the center. And if you would like to see the city u could not find any taxi around. So think twice chousing this hotel.

Dear Gulnara M, We are very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us. I always wonder why guests book a hotel in the middle of a rainforest and then complain about…..the rainforest and its seclusion. Which part of the jungle was not clear before you booked? So as the resort is nestled in the heart of an ancient rainforest where it is therefore surrounded by incredible nature obviously some insects are to be expected however they are not intrusive as reported by many guests but they are there!! In order to be nestled in such rainforest, it also needs to be….well…secluded…hence away from the nearest city to an extent at least which also means that taxis can take time to come if you do not book them in advance. There is indeed a golf course nearby and usually, everywhere in the world, the golf fees and rentals of golf clubs are chargeable, so not too sure why you were surprised that it would be chargeable here as well. I can certainly understand that The Datai Langkawi is just not for you….I do indeed recommend some cheaper hotels in town next time. Kind regards, Arnaud Girodon

My wife and children and I spent three nights in a rainforest villa, and found pretty much all aspects of our stay to be faultless. Everything about the Datai is fantastic however the standout feature is the staff, all of whom were absolutely first class. They are clearly very very well trained and are on top of everything, very impressive. We’ve travelled extensively around Malaysia and nowhere even comes close to matching The Datai, in fact it’s probably in the top two places we have stayed globally. We cannot wait to return.

As a patron of Ritz-Carlton Langkawi and Four Seasons Langkawi, my stay at The Datai was a breath of fresh air compared to the other two luxurious international names. I opted for the Seclusion Package, which was truly value for money for Malaysians that included a private limousine, meals, etc. The level of service was top-notch from the beginning to the end, starting with Fatimah, who greeted us upon arrival and helped us with our check-in. We also enjoyed the excellent service of Michelle (The Dining Room) and Nuaim (Gulai House), who served us during our meals there. Compared with Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons, The Datai is truly the real deal of what it means to be a luxury retreat for wellness purposes. The complimentary water activities and excellent dining experiences at all their dining options were a real treat. I was fed so well during this trip and all the staffs were so attentive to ensuring I had a pleasant stay. I could clearly sense they enjoyed working at The Datai and were aligned on their mission. Every time I complimented any of the staff, they would respond by saying that it was their mission to do so. Such service and the togetherness of a team running a resort in Malaysia is so hard to come by! I loved and appreciated the team's sense of pride in running The Datai. I also enjoyed the surprise complimentary cocktail and ice-creams at the beach in the afternoon, which put a smile on everyone's face, especially on a hot afternoon in the sun. If you're looking for a luxury retreat for rest, The Datai is the place to be. I fully enjoyed my 3 days stay here at The Datai and didn't leave the resort until my last day here. Its secluded and private location is truly a bliss to cut away from everything else, and I look forward to making annual trips to The Datai in Langkawi instead of patronizing the other international names. The Datai has set the standard very high for me personally as the best luxury retreat in Langkawi, and I would dare say in Malaysia.
