Located off the northwestern coast of Malaysia by the Andaman Sea, the archipelago of Langkawi is South-East Asia's first UNESCO Geopark – a geological and ecological wonderland of 550-million-year-old rock formations, precipitous rainforest and deserted islands. Wrapped in nature's abundance, experience a jungle-cloaked island escape where UNESCO Geopark meets Andaman Sea. Combining artful designs with a wholesome connection with nature, the resort waves in traditional Malaysian kampung-design throughout the resort. Discover a sense of space at the mile-long private beach or set sail into Langkawi's UNESCO Geopark for an enriching experience as Resident Naturalists take you through the protected mangroves, showcasing adventures between land and sea. An afternoon of relaxation at Geo Spa awaits as the award-winning spa draws on the ancient healing energies of surrounding nature. Throughout the resort, private cabanas, endless hideaways and landscaped pools (family pool and adult quiet pool) offer the freedom and flexibility to relax and reconnect – individually, with one another or as a family.

Hotel's Favorite
I chose this hotel because I needed a break from two stressful years of pandemic and a sunny escape from home with my partner. My major goal was a "no fuss" vacation and this is exactly what we got. I would like to mention that this is more of an informational review for those who do not know what to expect. We do not frequent luxury resorts and we have both traveled Malaysia prior, therefore we were not seeking an immersive travel experience but merely great food and pure relaxation. Room: We booked the "cheapest" room (Garden View, Ground Floor) which was very spacious and beautifully located with a view on the meticulous garden area. It was decorated tastefully and offered everything you would need, including a hot tub with outdoor shower. This small outdoor area was completely walled off, which offered maximum privacy. There was plenty of storage for clothes and suit cases and a terrace out front included sun chairs. There are mosquitoes, but bug spray was provided. For rainy days there are large umbrellas next to the entrance. The bed was extremely comfortable, we were definitely tempted to simply take the pillows with us. There are two large window fronts facing the garden, if one prefers more privacy, I would recommend booking the top floor. We are not that particular about this and enjoyed the full view of the garden. People hardly walked past anyways, despite the hotel being fully booked. Service Every need was tended to and leaflets were handed out to us during check in. There is a chat service, which responds quickly, sorting out any of your wishes. This includes, table reservations, massages, info on tours etc.. The staff was respectful, kind and responsive. Staff came to clean twice a day, wich we thought was a little much, as they usually cleaned at noon'ish and again in the evening around 5PM, in this time frame we were not in our room anyways. Spa The Geo Spa is definitely worth a visit. Again, beautifully designed, it was an entire experience. We booked a couples massage and the massage therapists did a great job. There were options to take a steam bath prior and we were able to relax in their chill out area after. Pool We stayed at the adult pool area every single day. It was not hard to get a cabana, which offered a lot of privacy with its own entry to the pool. The staff was attentive and we were able to have lunch there too. The pool has a beautiful view and was very long for proper laps. The adult pool is tranquil and there was access to the beach and ocean with outdoor showers. Facilities and general Hotel Complex The 4s covers a large area with stunning architecture and I would personally say that the images are an understatement. Despite the hotel being fully booked, it was extremely calm and never busy anywhere including the restaurant, pool and beach area. We asked for bikes to get around, as you do cover some distance from one place to the other, but there is also a buggy service. Everything is very serene and the entrance area with the stunning blue walls was a joy to walk through. Beach and Ocean We travelled during mid season, which usually includes more rain, but we were very lucky to have almost exclusively sunny days with rare showers in the night. The temperature was pleasant as was the temperature of the ocean. The beach was cleaned every day. Unfortunately Langkawi is known for its large jelly fish population and we never swam out far or stayed long in the ocean. The water sports centre offered free SUP boards and kayaks, which we used to paddle out to the close by island to see some fish and eagles. Tours and Activities We booked a mangrove tour which was a great experience. Our guide was patient and kind. We loved that there was an emphasis on not interfering with the wild life, unlike other tours who fed the eagles and monkeys. We saw three different types of eagles, snakes, monkeys and even sea otters! I would definitely recommend the tour. If you are staying at the hotel on a Friday, there is a cycle tour to the night market close to the resort, which was fun as well. Food We booked an all inclusive package, which I can highly recommend. Breakfast, dinner and lunch was included at the three restaurants as well as the pool area. Since it is a bit tricky to go to restaurants outside of the resort due to its location, having unlimited access to the restaurants was a great perk. The food was great and plenty at all places. In room dining was also included. General Tips: Bring enough cash for tipping staff and taxi rides. The closest ATM did not work when we cycled past. Check with reception if you want to visit the sky bridge. We unfortunately could not go, because it was too foggy most of the days. There is free and plenty drinking water in the rooms and every facility. They use refillable glass bottles, which we appreciated. Bring your own reusable water bottle to fill up if you venture out of the resort to bring with. For all the people who enjoy long dresses and flowing pants, be careful when riding the bikes. The chain is not protected and the fabric may get stuck and tear.

Most incredible experience by staying in this hotel! The hotel itself looks amazing with great architecture and design, two very pretty pools with outstanding views at the sea and of course beautiful gardens which are such a pleasure to walk through. You can see many lizards, hornbillbirds, cute monkeys and funny squirrels. You don't feel that you are in hotel but just in a magical garden. Also great kitchen- the best food we have tried was in the traditional restaurant Ikan-Ikan. Ayam percik is sensational. Big compliment to the chef! We did'nt visit the grill bar because it was not cozy at night. It would therefore be nicer if they would put some installations. We also did the complimentary walk in the morning with a guide around the hotel and a kayak trip in mangrove forest. Both tours were really enriching and pleasant! Super nice guides - friendly and with interesting stories. Also did we use the complimetary kayaks to go to the islands near by- would totally recommend that small trip. All staff of the hotel were outstandingly friendly and helpful- Jon, Johanna, Narishah, Kuh, Malik and others, Thank you so much for everything! We really appreciate all your work to make our stay even better. Also a big compliment to the bar staff at the pools. We had the best stay in that place and created memories for a lifetime! Langkawi is a very special laid back island with a special malay-thai touch. But to stay in this four seasons elevates it to a whole new level of cultural experience!

Our stay at Four Seasons Langkawi will be rated as one of the Top 10 in our personal travel history of more than 60 countries. First of all, the location of this property is as if heaven has descended on earth. It is surreal. The white soft sand of the beach, the calm sea of the strait of Melacca, the distant mangroves and islands in the sea and the painting-esque sky all make for a very special experience here. If you add to this great mother nature , the incredible hospitality of the staff and the aesthetically infused property… the sum total of all this is lethal combination of ultra luxury in the lap of nature. We had amazing dinner @ Ikan Ikan where we were looked after by very charming Hazrul and Saaysa. The restaurant manager Firdaus is brilliant. He takes feedback very seriously and acts immediately. He has a bright future in hospitality industry. Another promising gem is bartender Azim. A slender cute guy at Ruba who is naturally gifted to create some amazing cocktails and serve to the guests with pure love and warmth. Many thanks to the wonderful management team of Four Seasons for visualizing and creating this outstanding gem of a property in the lap of nature.

Wonderful place to stay either for families with kids or for couples. We stayed in a beach villa with private pool wich was perfect for us. A lot of activities inside the resort, archery, climbing, riding bike. The trip in the mangrove forest was amazing, also was our guide. Nice experience with food. The family pool is absolutely wonderful. Also liked the spa services. Hope to come back one day. Deeply recommend this resort

Fantastic views, a lovely upgrade and the birthday and anniversary surprise. What's not to like. But the staff. I could write about the fantastic views, or the amazing beach villa, the great food at Serai, in-room dining, or Kelapa Grill, the lovely surprise champagne, chocolates, cakes, everything else that was amazing, but it doesn't really describe the magic of Four Seasons Langkawi. I would need to my 11yo's help in this. As we flew back home, I asked him what the highlight of the trip was. I was expecting to him to talk about the villa or the beach or even the food. Without hesitating, he said, “I miss the staff most. I miss Shukri the bellman driving us around. I wish I took a photo with him.” I think this sums up why Four Seasons Langkawi is magical – it’s because of the magic of the people that make it so. I appreciate the setup in the villa, from the rose petals to all the birthday & anniversary cakes plus all the extras for my son too. The place may show some wear and tear but the people, the people of Four-Seasons Langkawi is why I’ll be back. Sooner, rather than later. You see, even having to depend somewhat on the buggies to take you the half-mile to breakfast or the family pool, this "inconvenience" became a fun adventure every time because of the people.

We had a memorable 4 day 3 night stay at the resort. We were greeted warmly by the Resort Manager when we arrived and check in was hassle free. Staff were amiable, courteous and ever so helpful. We tried all the 3 restaurants at the resort and I must say all were gastronomically very appetising. Even the room service was prompt and great. Downloading the Four Seasons app is imperative as it is very convenient. Requests are answered almost immediately.Although the resort is huge, getting from one point to another is not of a problem as there are buggy in abundance.Kudos! We had a bbq themed dinner by the beach on the first night( very tastefully set up), daily breakfast buffet at the Serai( good spread) and had a super authentic Malay dinner at Ikan-Ikan on the 3rd night. Besides your staff, Four Seasons Langkawi biggest asset is its lovely beach..a whole 1km+ long of white sandy beach and pristine waters. Its not only private but very well maintained..most probably the best beach in Langkawi. We also loved our beach villa with plunge pool. The villa was spacious, comfortable and very private. There were some interesting visitors to the villa though- we saw a family of grey lotong( a type of monkey making way through the compound of the villa), a few hornbills foraging for food, monitor lizards and a few tree shrews. A pleasant surprise indeed! We would definitely come again and wouldn’t mind being placed in villa no 18 again..

There is a lot of good things about this hotel. Staff are excellent and the kids club is one of the best I have seen. Also ikan ikan is a very good restaurant and the beach is nice with a great pool. The main problem it has is its competitors. Unfortunately for this hotel, when you compare what you get for the same money in Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia etc, this falls very short. Everything at this hotel is priced as if it's in the Caribbean and it's not. Additionally you don't really get bonuses you usually get in a hotel like this. Welcome plate first night but nothing after that, no complementary cocktail evening, hotel water is charged for. The hotel taxis is 5 times the price of a local one, restaurants are double price of good local restaurant etc. Another thing that was a major disappointment for us is we had booked two seaview rooms. We had asked via the app if we could have one villa as it would make our lives easier, or at least connecting rooms. They said yes and it would be complimentary which was nice as it was a small upgrade in price on what we had booked. When we got there we weren't upgraded and didn't have connecting rooms. When i said that we were promised an upgrade, it was then quoted for a massive rise and significantly in excess of what I saw quoted on the website. I said no and fine we will just stick with what we got and then was asked how much I am willing to pay as if I was haggling at the local market. In the evening when I was able to go online I dug out the email promising the larger room to show I wasn't trying it on and to their credit they then offered the upgrade for the following day. By then we had unpacked though and the sour taste had been left in the mouth. What I was surprised by is that after we said it's ok we will stay in the current room, nothing else was attempted to rectify their error and the senior management never contacted me or apologised for their mistake. All in all, I have stayed at a number of four seasons but this is the first time I have left knowing I will never come back

Dear joinerclub, I am very sorry to hear the experience you anticipated when booking Four Seasons Langkawi was below your expectations during your recent stay. We certainly missed the mark regarding your booking enquiry and I would like to apologise for the lapses that occurred regarding this experience. The miscommunication through our Four Seasons App along with Email is certainly not in line with the typical experience of our guests. I understand our Manager on Duty connected with you during the stay to address your concerns and to ensure your feedback was taken seriously regarding this issue. We strive to exceed our guests expectations and your feedback regarding the value added benefits was also concerning. We provide a number of special touches during the stay in both our Rooms along with our Food & Beverage outlets. Furthermore, we offer complimentary In-House Purified Water in all areas of the resort as part of our efforts towards sustainability. Please know your feedback is incredibly important to us and we are hopeful we will have the opportunity to regain your trust in the future. Kind regards, Ivan Giles General Manager
