Located in the Andaman Sea off the northwestern coast of Malaysia, the archipelago of Langkawi is south-east Asia's first UNESCO Geopark – a geological and ecological wonderland of 550-million-year-old rock formations, precipitous rainforest and deserted islands. Just minutes by boat from the world-renowned mangroves of the Kilim Karst Geoforest Park, Four Seasons Resort Langkawi combines artful design and all-pervading serenity with a wholesome connection with nature. The Resort’s traditional Malay kampong-design weaves through acres of beachfront gardens dotted with al fresco restaurants, palms and lotus ponds. An endless sense of space encourages clarity and calm. UNESCO-protected mangroves showcase labyrinthine adventures between land and sea, supported by the on-site Geopark Discovery Centre, while the Geo Spa draws on the ancient healing energies of the surrounding nature. Throughout the Resort, private cabanas, endless hideaways and landscaped pools (including one for adults only) offer the freedom and flexibility to reflect and reconnect – individually, with one another or as a family.

I need a downtime break before some significant surgery and, as currently the only travel allowed is interstate between green zones, decided on going to Langkawi. I have been many times before and normally stay at the Datai. I have stayed with Four Season on many occasions elsewhere in the world so thought I would try their resort on Langkawi. Even given the difficult circumstance they have to operate in currently, I wasn’t disappointed at all. The signature first rate service from David and his team is there - and the hotel itself presents a very calming and traditional style retreat. The weather was unrelentingly bad so this ended up more of a staycation, but I hope to remedy that on a future visit. The rooms and facilities are as they are depicted on the website. A really pleasant environment to spend your time in – even during inclement weather. Transfer, check in and departure is both welcoming and seamless so I can highly recommend you give the resort a try.

We visited this bar during our summer holiday on Langkawi and were looked after so well from the minute we arrived. Welcoming staff at the lobby, a golf cart took us to the bar and we had a choice of seats while we waited for the sunset. Not a great one tonight as it wasn't a clear night but the staff, especially Surinder, looked after us so well and went out of his way to make sure we had a special evening. Beautiful G&Ts, the kids loved their mocktails and we shared a cheese platter and a pizza (the best he'd ever tasted according to my son). Although it wasn't busy, presumably because of the RMCO, there was great music, the decor is really lovely and the friendly, experienced staff meant it felt that we were being spoiled and I could see how this could be one of the nicest bars on the island. Thank you guys, we hope to come back again soon.

Superb service, phenomenal staff, they always go beyond. The location is amazing! The hotel beach is probably the best in Langkawi. Dining and activities are expensive but definitely worth the price. Breakfast is awesome, although it’s lacking selection. I mean after all it’s Four Seasons

The resort offers everything you need in terms of leisure, relaxation, fitness, dining, adventure and entertainment. Sadly, six nights was not enough time to explore all of the above. As someone who loves swimming in the ocean I was delighted to find out that the water was pleasantly warm and it would clear up later in the morning. Despite its proximity to the mangrove forests, the sea was very "swimable" allowing us to revel in our afternoon paddles. Strangely enough, as a couple we preferred the family pool to the adult pool. The person who designed it is a genius, you have to experience it to understand. We had an opportunity to stay in both a first floor room (202) and a villa (16). Contrary to some reviews, I found the accommodation to be in excellent condition with an authentic touch and lots of personality. I loved the balcony with its view to the sea, the beautiful bathroom space and the overall design of the room. The villa was way too spacious for just two of us, however, it definitely offered an advantage of a private outdoor space and access to the beach. I would like to thank the housekeeping fairies for their fantastic job, the accommodation was kept super clean throughout our stay. On the food front. I will never understand on what basis someone who books a stay with Four Seasons would expect to pay a middle range hotel/restaurant prices for Four Seasons food and beverages. It is expensive, but it is Four Seasons. Quality comes at a price... We did cycle for a lunch at Scarborough, the place is a stone`s throw from the resort and fish&chips has always been one of our guilty pleasures. The food was ok and I am glad we tried it (we did not return), but again, it is an entirely different league at all levels - hygiene, seating, quality of ingredients, food presentation, surroundings etc. - which was of course reflected in the price. I do not eat meet, but all the food I tried at the resort including seafood risottos, pizzas, curries was top-notch. My husband became a big fan of the Four Seasons Langkawi burgers. We often went out late for aperitifs ending up being the last guest at the bar. By the time we would finish our cocktails it would be too late to dine at the restaurants, hence we kept the in room dining guys busy and we thoroughly enjoyed every single feast. We did manage to have a dinner at Ikan Ikan though, the food and the service were both wonderful. My husband and I are also very grateful to Samanda and Ash for their help in liaising with our airline to get us home a few days earlier than planned due to the imposed coronavirus travel restrictions. We will not forget your huge effort and calm professionalism. Our very favourite place at the resort was the Rhu Bar. I was blown away by the range of cocktails on the menu, lavender and jasmine infused gins enriched my gin loving soul in particular. The bar has a super cool vibe, all credit to Surinder, Hee and the rest of the team. Thank you all! I will join the guests who highly recommended Mangrove and eagles safari adventure which we found to be an insightful and enjoyable experience. To conclude, our personal measure of a hotel/resort would be whether we would like to return. And our response is "Happily". Thank you Four Seasons Langkawi and best wishes for the future.
