We lived in Kampala for a couple of years and The Hairy Lemon was one of our favorite weekend escapes from the city. It is incredibly peaceful and you will not run out of activities; it is also great for kids of any age. There is a climbing wall, slack lines, frisbee golf course, kayaking, water play, and plenty of...

Thank you so much for taking the time to write up your beautiful review of our little piece of paradise... it is indeed a haven for children as they able to explore nature in all its glory; red tailed monkeys cavorting in the tree tops and tiny little butterflies flitting between the hibiscus trees; not to mention the timid monitor...

I don't know where to start on this one. It is simply amazing sleeping with sounds of the water rushing by over rocks trying to make its way to somewhere, with no windows to your cottage, on an island far faraway from everything. Even from communications civilization. No Mobile network coverage, no nothing. You simply getaway from everything. That is...

Thank you so much for putting into words the peace and tranquility that our island offers. There is something rather special and unique about being surrounded by fast flowing waters - natural therapy for one's soul. We hope to see you back on the island soon.

I had several unplanned days to roam around Uganda before my work started - I went rafting in Jinja, and heard through a friend about the Hairy Lemon. i got a ride to their boat lunch with a plan to stay one night, and loved it so much that I scrapped my plans to visit Kampala and stayed for two...

The hosts, Nicky and Paul are amazing. They went out of their way to ensure our needs were met. Super fun New Year's evening. Unique setting with little islands inter linked with bridges. Activities galore. Suitable for all! Loved it!

If you are looking for quiet, secluded and relaxing place which is stunningly beautiful this is the place to be. We stayed in a double room with a waterfall in front and easy access to the Nile river. The lodge is located down a dirt road about 1 hour from Jinja and the only way to reach the lodge is...

We stayed at Hairy Lemon Island with the Nile River Explorers, and were so delighted with the accommodations, the staff, and the views of the river. We loved the relaxing atmosphere and different activities. We played water volleyball, scrabble, and read magazines. It was wonderful.

Headed to the island with some friends in June. It was fun being disconnected from the fast world. Was quiet, peaceful, no electricity and almost no network which is what we were looking for. We had freshly baked goodies everyday. It was generally, calm and peaceful and we brought it down with noise!! Good place to connect with nature.

The Hairy Lemon is a great place to relax and get away from the pressures of work and city life. Staff members are courteous and helpful. The food is great. We've stayed at the Hairy Lemon many times over the years, when we lived in Uganda, and now go back whenever we have a chance.
