I recently stayed in Little Eden (also called Dondet Hotel) with my partner. This review needs to be read in the light that it is intended in that accommodation offerings in Don Det are limited and not of a high standard. Also, the island is only just reopening post covid. The hotel is fine - it’s a little tired but it’s clean. The bathroom, like all bathrooms in low budget hotels, is a wet room. It was clean and spacious. There are no bikes to rent / borrow and you need to source that from another shop on the island but that is relatively easy. Contrary to the photos there is no pool. The current partnership has broken down and the pool no longer serves the hotel. Do not expect to be able to use the pool. Breakfast is ok but basic - bread rolls; pancakes and eggs with some limited fruit offerings and cordial rather than fresh juice. The staff are nice but some of their English is below standard, however, the owners English is exceptional and she is very helpful.…
A piece of serenity on Don Det. Beautiful rooms, lovely pool, friendly staff, delicious breakfast and dinner as well. Mathieu the owner will go out of his way to help you book a tour, take you in a tuk tuk to the zip lining over the Mekong. I was booked for 3 days and I stayed a week.
Comparing to your average Don Det guesthouse this hotel looks a lot more upmarket and there are a lot of good points to highlight here. It is only a couple of minutes walk from the pier, huge bonus when you have to walk with your rucksack in 35 degree heat! The swimming pool is lovely and really needed, plenty of chairs and space too. The breakfast terrace has a beautiful view and the food at breakfast is tasty. We stayed in the rooms on the right hand side which I think are older than the main building. The room was airy and spacious, there was a fan and an aircon and both worked well. Wifi connection was also good. Things to improve are as follows: beds by the pool need mattresses and the towels need to be upgraded, curtains in our room had yellow stains, bedside tables and lights should be added. It would be nice to have some shower gel in the bathroom too and perhaps a fan there too for ventilation. …
It is the nearest hotel on Don Det when you disembark from the Nakasong ferry... and comparing to the neighboring hotels also the cleanest. For dinner, as the restaurant options in this part of the island are very restricted, we stayed in the hotel restaurant. It was delicious.
Stayed for 2 nights over New Years / Eve / Day Could have stayed another 5 days easily, great location, close to so many eateries and amazing view of the Mekong from the restaurant! The pool was so refreshing on a hot day and the bar was really good too! The rooms were nice and big and kept clean. Only down side for us is the lack of a safe in the rooms and the open shower meant there was water everywhere when you showered. Overall a really relaxing vibe and would stay here again in a heartbeat!
We loved our stay at the little Eden - we found out about the hotel in our lonely planet book and were not let down! Big spacious rooms with air con, comfy beds and well equipped bathrooms (properly functioning toilet - which is surprisingally hard to find in Laos!). The pool area is comfortable and has a nice relaxed atsmopshere . The best thing of course is having access to the best views on don det during both sunrise and sunset! Would definitely recommend :)
The hotel is probably among the most luxurious in the island. Room is spacious, not very clean though. Breakfast is very good, a la carte options to minimize food waste. Staff are very friendly. Pool is very relaxing, closes by 8 pm. Few meters away from the harbor with lots of eating options nearby. Sunset views are stunning from the hotel restaurant
We stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed many aspects of the property - particularly the deck and the swimming pool. It is without doubt the best hotel on Don Det but one feels that the owner/manager needs to get a grip on things as the staff were halfhearted and you never saw any management at the pool. We were offered no information nor any trips. Wasted opportunities. The room was clean and fresh but the daily clean was lacklustre. Why you would let local kids into the pool on a Saturday for them to make huge noise all afternoon is beyond me - for the sake of $8?
We were looking for a room for 3 in the small Island of Don Det. Despite the bungalows which were offered, the only option to sleep for 3 was in this hôtel. WE were luckily surprised by the rooms, breakfast and swimming pool. The staff is really welcoming and likely to help for your requests. WE strongly advise it !
Staff is tired, Owner is one of the most boring guys I saw as an owner. Didn't even say welcome. Maybe he just cants talk and be friendly. Well, then make a T-shirt with that sign on, so he can wear it. The hotel has fantastic opportunities with the right owner with the right vision.
