I visit this part of France every year, usually staying with friends. However due to ill health, we booked into this small French hotel for a week. Wow, .....after 8 nights in 3 and 4 star hotels, I was not expecting much. How wrong I was ! The bedroom was bright, cool and neatly made up. The bathroom, though dated was scrupulously clean with towels artistically placed and colour co-ordinated. Sweets were placed at either side of the bed, a table and 2 chairs with a parasol were on the balcony which overlooked a fountain. The room , though on the main thoroughfare was quiet and though lacking AC , the shutters kept it cool. While we were there, the area experienced a heatwave and a fan miraculously appeared in our room. Breakfast whisk was served in the restaurant was traditionally French croissants and breads with jam and yoghurt. Tea and coffee was provided in beautiful China and 3 types of jam and marmalade to go with it. The lady who ran the hotel couldn't have been nicer or more... More

We had been Armagnac tasting in the Gers, so were a little on the late side for lunch. We spotted the hotel from the road and decided to see whether we could have a quick lunch. No problem, said the waitress and showed us to a table on the terrace.

We had the 'menu formule' which gave you a choice of 2 dishes per course and cost a princely 13.50 euros for 3 courses. The food was very tasty and the portions ample. We had a carafe of the local wine, which again was excellent and inexpensive. The service was friendly if a little slow, but the quality of the food more than made up for this. This was the sort of meal that is becoming more and more difficult to find in France where the prices have gone up a lot recently - good food at a very reasonable price.

Thoroughly recommend this place, certainly for the food, as we weren't staying here. But if you want to explore 'Armagnac country', this would be a good base and both the rooms and the dining room look clean...
