Situated in a serene location favored for its closeness to nightlife and beaches, R2 Bahia Playa Design Hotel & Spa offers guests spacious rooms with stunning sea views, although a few oddities such as absent toilet doors have been noted. While the majority of guests commend the staff for their attentive service, a handful have had less favorable encounters. The hotel's array of amenities and the option to upgrade to sea-facing rooms are considered worthwhile, despite grumbles about extra charges. Evening entertainment adds vibrancy, but some guests suggest improvements in the disco's ambiance. Cleanliness stands out as a high point for the establishment.

As a solo traveller looking for relaxation in the sun this was a perfect choice.
I stayed in a junior suite with sea view and the balcony was huge with plenty of space for 2 sun loungers and a table and chairs.
After reading reviews that the minibar, WiFi and A/C would be chargeable, I was pleasantly surprised to find out these were supplied at no additional charge plus I had a kettle and 2x pool/beach towels included.
My room was cleaned daily and the reception staff were very pleasant and welcoming.
It was a 5 min walk to the local Spa supermarket where you could pick up a large bottle of water for 0.45euro compared to 1.30euro in the hotel shop.
The food was varied each night, all the usual choices and well cooked.
The pool area seemed quite busy so I mainly enjoyed the sea view sunbathing on my balcony. Would recommended if you’re looking for a no fuss, low key break.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel from between boxing day and New Year.

I emailed the hotel in advance to request a nice seaview room and a bottle of cava for when we arrived, as we were celebrating. This was exactly what we got , so thank you very much for honouring my request. Our room was on the third floor, panoramic views of the promenade and sea - absolutely stunning and a sun trap during the day.

The hotel itself is beautifully clean, and all the staff we interacted with were polite and friendly. At check-in, I was asked to email the receptionist a copy of the booking, as I didn't print out any of the documents. I tried several times, but it wouldn't go through, so in the end, I was told not to worry about it, the receptionist also took a copy of our passports and I was required to write down my personal information on a sheet.

There is free wifi everywhere in the hotel and it's strong with a good connection where ever ypu go.vThe room was clean and fresh, with ample storage space, there is a kettle and a large bottle of water, tea, coffee and sugar, but no milk. We bought some from the shop as the restaurant or pool bar wouldn't give us any when we asked.

The TV only has a few English channels, but if you go to settings, select general and then language, and you can change the main language to English or whatever language you require. It only works on some channels, but it was better than before I changed it. I found the bed to be a bit too firm for me, but my husband liked it. The shower is a bit fiddly to work at first, but the water pressure and temperature are good, and the bath has a step in it, so be careful. The rooms were cleaned daily. We opted for every other day, but you could always ask the chambermaids for extra towels and essentials if needed.

The food and drink in the restaurant was good in my opinion, there was always some good to eat, freshly made meat and fish every day, lots of fresh salad, great selection of cakes and desserts and the self service drinks tasted good. No complaints with the food or drinks at all.

The hotel is in a quiet and remote village. It feels like a sleepy old town. It was tranquil and peaceful, which is what I wanted, but if you're after somewhere more lively in the evening, with lots of bars and restaurants, then this isn't the place for you. The all-inclusive finishes at 11pm and you have to pay for drinks thereafter, there is a club in the basement that plays pop songs mixed with dance music.

I can't comment on the spa or gym, and I didn't use those facilities. There are two pool areas, one with a heated pool and the other not. Beds in the sun are reserved early in the morning. The beds in the shade are available all day long. They play low music at one of the pools during the day. I had read on previous reviews that the wooden flooring around the dangerous, this is not the case now as it's been newly tiled.

In summary, it's a decent hotel hotel, in a very quiet location, with black sand. If you need somewhere to relax and rejuvenate, then this is a good shout. If you're looking for a lively resort with things to outside of the hotel, perhaps with a strip, then this isn't the place for you!

Have just come back from a lovely week over Christmas, full of delicious food, great drinks and lovely staff. The room was spacious with a large terrace overlooking the sea, great for sunset drinks. Good shower. Weather perfect.

There are 2 main pools, one unheated (average 17 degrees) which was my (and not very many other guests!) preference for a daily swim and featured the only outside bar. The other pool was heated and busier, just off reception.

There is a sun bed reservation by towel system, luckily one of our group was an early riser so we always got a good spot. The unheated pool area has the sun all day.

The food was plentiful and was very good, with different meats and seafoods/fish options on rotation. As with most all inclusives, we all over ate 3 times a day! Christmas dinner was exceptional with so much attention to detail, and the best seafood and meats along with all the trimmings. The restaurant was dressed beautifully, as was the hotel generally with Christmas trees and decorations.

Restaurant and bar staff were all very professional and smiled through some quite challenging guests. Bars are staffed with just one person at all times, the night club usually 2. This can lead to a bit of a wait.

Minor negatives, the bar area/lobby needs some music and it's a bit of an odd space overall. The night club is way too big and some of the entertainment was questionable to say the least!

If you're a late drinker you'll need to note that the all inclusive finishes at 11pm, after this all drinks are paid. The lobby bar closes at 11pm and the club at 1am. We were a bit miffed initially, but found we were in bed by 11:30pm on most days anyway (mainly due to the over eating) so it wasn't an issue. Wine/Cava and beers included were all good, the 'nacionale' spirits included were pretty rough, except the whisky creme which was great. Premium options are available to buy at all times.

The hotel is in the small seaside town of Tarajalejo, which has a nice Euro Spar and a few little bars/restaurants but isn't very picturesque. Similarly, the beach isn't great with black sand, some patches remaining from a concreting over decades ago, and a lot of rocks and stones. This could do with a big makeover but we stayed by the pool most of the time anyway.

There was a €3 per day charge for the in room safe which is frankly bizarre, we didn't use them. There's also a spa which has a €15 charge, we went on a complimentary 45 minute evening session and it's ok, but the steam room wasn't working, the spa pool was nice but not worth the charge if you're thinking of paying.

Overall, nit picking aside, we had a fantastic Christmas break and would recommend.

A very pleasant stay in a comfortable, clean & friendly hotel. We stayed for a week and had a lovely time.

We had a very nice sized room, well kitted out and kept very clean. We opted for a junior suite, the extra space is worth it. We considered upgrading to a beach view, but are pleased we didn’t. We had a room at the back of the hotel, looking into the middle, right between the 2 pools. We found it quiet & a rather lovely location, easy to get to reception and anywhere in the hotel.
One tip - the beds are 2 singles, which are large together, but not quite the same as a proper double. You can ask reception for most extras and they are happy to oblige. We got extra pillows & an iron. You need to pay for the safe, well worth it & not too expensive.

Through the Marco Polo guide we were able to book various trips and had some great days out. The hotel is a little isolated, but it is a lovely peaceful location. Costs Calma is only a 10 minutes drive if you fancy some more nightlife. There is a club in the hotel, but we didn’t fancy that and just enjoyed the surroundings. The local Spar is very handy if you want some extra bits - it’s only 2-3 minutes walk.

The food is really enjoyable. This is not gourmet dining. But a buffet with loads of choice. There are varying themes each night, and a great section of meats, salads, bread, chips & loads of desserts. The Rojo sauce is really lovely. Drinks are plentiful, they have plenty of free choice and also some premium cocktails if you want to pay a bit, well worth it on the ones we had. A lovely atmosphere - we were there for the last week of the Euro’s which was fun. The bar In the lobby is a nice relaxing atmosphere if you want to chill out.

The Spa is worth a visit, great massage. The 2 pools are very nice, we stayed around the quiet pool, which its now fully tiled, no decking in sight. Getting a sun lounger is easy, if your towel is down by 10 you’ll get a good spot. Even on our days out, when we got back there was always loungers available.

Finally, if late checkout is not available, the hotel are great at letting you store your stuff at reception (in a locked room) and using the facilities. You can then shower & change in the spa. Overall a lovely week, great staff in a secluded enjoyable hotel.

Feral cats roamed the dining hall both outside and inside begging for food. It was not allowed to reserve sunbeds, but despite that, all the beds that had sun during the day were occupied from approx. At 7. We pointed this out 2 times without it being followed up permanently. There were far too few beds compared to ant. guests. Those in the neighboring hotel also had access to these beds, while we did not have access to beds in their hotel. We took a look in there and there were many free beds. The wooden floor by the pools was so poorly maintained that the area would have been closed by inspection in Norway. Many loose planks and holes. Poor maintenance around the pool. With a little wind, the pools were filled with leaves. Had to go to reception and ask someone to clean it up before anything was done about it. There was a fee for use of the safe and for changing pool towels, which we have not experienced before. There was also an additional charge for faster WiFi.

We spent 2 nights in this hotel, and our opinion is not very good. To begin with, as we arrived, they asked us for our ID and sent us to eat, just like that, without bracelets and without any further explanation and later we knew by chance that it was because the room was not yet available, let's see... we knew that we arrived before check in but we were not in a hurry, we could wait, just saying that was enough. Afterwards, one of the girls, I don't know if she was learning, but she didn't give the wrong instructions on how to go to the room. They didn't explain anything about the hotel or the facilities. What a twist we took and thank you, it's not very big. The room is quite good, yes, we took a sea view and it was super good and clean. At no time did we see a cockroach as other comments say, what is true is that the air conditioning is not working and with the sun beating down on the windows of the terrace all day, imagine the heat in that room. The food....isn't much, little variety and always the same, if you are more of a meat person and don't like lamb, it's bad, it's what they almost always had. One of the nights we saw entrecôte but since we didn't go to eat at 8:00 p.m. but half an hour later, there was only lamb left... well... We are used to white label drinks, that's what they have in the store. most hotels and it is the most normal, yes, the beer is tropical and that does count a lot in its favor. The staff is friendly, especially congratulations to Franko from the disco, always a big smile. And for me the worst thing was the entertainment staff, I'm sorry but they don't know how to animate, apart from the fact that they don't speak any Spanish in the activities there was so much silence that you didn't even realize they were there. From our point of view the complex is not bad (I would change the floor of the pools which is to die for) if you are looking for tranquility you will have it, but if you are looking for sun, go to the beach. The pools are small and the sun barely shines on one side, but as long as you don't stay in the hammock at night you won't even get one, they are all reserved from 7 and even before and the funniest thing is that you always saw the The same people in the same hammocks and no one from the staff says anything, so... you'd better get a room with a sea view and stay on the terrace, which of course, you don't have a pool to swim in or have a drink in. For our part, they have to improve many aspects of the facilities and food.

Hotel very well located by the ocean with a direct ocean view perfect for sea view rooms, ideal for a relaxing vacation, but it is very isolated. If you want to visit, you absolutely need a car otherwise there is bus line 1, €3.8 to go to JANDIA. In front of the hotel there are 500 m of promenade and a small village next to it with a SPAR, the beach is black sand and pebbles. 4km away, there is a zoo. Otherwise you can walk in the hills.
These are beautiful, spacious rooms, TV with 4 French channels, which is rare (TF1, TV5, Arte, France 24). Safe paying €3 per day. A bottle of water and sparkling wine in the room on the day of your arrival. Housekeeping very well done with care every day.
Catering there is a choice of a different theme every day, just the fruit juices in the morning are very artificial as in almost all hotels but there is fresh fruit (melon papaya watermelon banana apple pear orange clementine).
Very beautiful spa with a magnificent ocean view, €13.50 for 90 minutes, with Luxair we had 3 free entries per week, it was perfect.
Spa pool 34 to 36°
Outdoor swimming pool air-conditioned at 28°, another at 24°
The staff, whether at the reception, at the spa or in the restaurant, are smiling and very welcoming, the management is present on the ground, and is responsive to the slightest problem. Very well managed hotel that listens to its customers for a perfect stay.
Thank you for your welcome, see you soon

We were greeted very well, from the first minute we were offered a welcome glass waiting to give the documents to the concierge, really helpful and kind staff.
The hotel is very clean, you really smell perfume everywhere, there is always someone there to clean. If you are looking for tranquility you are in the right place. There are 3 swimming pools, the best is the one farthest from the reception, where several times a day offer activities but never intrusively, once a week there is the Foam Party, really fun.
Animators kind and never insistent.
Cozy restaurant, every night organize a different culinary theme, too bad only for desserts that have little taste.
The hotel also has a nightclub and games room (open every night).
The spa is nice, we were offered an evening to spend there and with the lights and the view of the sea in the evening was really romantic.
Our room was sea view, they are the best, the view is beautiful you see the seafront and palm trees, avoid the pool view rooms and especially those on the ground floor.
The beach is lava stone, so uncomfortable to lie down but once in the water is all sand (black and gold, magnificent).
If you are looking for unbridled fun and h24 noise you are in the wrong place.
A corner of paradise to regenerate body and mind from stress and routine.

Was a lovely stay however there is a few things making us question wether we would come back …

We found lots of ants around our room , especially in the bathroom !
Pool towels Were not washed and when we enquired about this we were told we had to pay €1 each to get new ones which for an all inclusive holiday it’s not what you expect !
The food was average and also very repetitive

However, the animation team made our stay the best it could have been! Want to say a big thank you to Franklin for entertaining us our whole holiday!

The hotel didn’t want to tell us anything about anything to do outside of there , we found out about a festival from a local shop keeper ! She was more helpful than the staff !

Overall we would only come back for the animation team !

Honest review -it was fine. Not in any way your usual all inclusive. Food was ok very limited and your chance of getting a drink to have with your meal breakfast lunch dinner were slim as no self service and little staff on the ground and that was just for water soft drinks. One small bar in lounge in evening and further entertainment was based in basement not where you want to spend your evening when on holidays. All inclusive drinks end at 11.00 pm pay for drinks from then on cash only or charge to room. Also note this hotel is located in a small village there are no other bars cafes open this time of year only at weekend, one spar shop and that’s your lot. Very short promenade at front of hotel for walk that’s about it. The weather was fab thankfully pools were nice and it was very quiet. Very little value for money.

There is no shuttle bus operated by the hotel, but its easy enough to get the regular bus into other towns/resorts, the bus stop is a short walk up the road to the roundabout where the bus stops are located, ask for a map from reception.
