Enjoyed a hearty and reasonable three course meal at the Hotel de France in Chalabre. An excellent foie gras was followed by an outstanding regional cassoulet. The dessert, a fruit salad, was little underwhelming but, overall, a very good meal for the price.

We ate here twice during our 2 week stay and were not disappointed. The food is fresh and authentic to the region as is the wine list. The foie gras was delicious. The service was good and the young waiter was very polite. We look forward to our next visit.

.Not very attractive outside. Inside v.plain but also v.friendly and welcoming. Mix of locals and English tourists. Lunchtime set menu excellent for the price. Looking forward to going again. Very nice waiter with excellent English...............from Norwich, as it turns out.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights as it's a good location for visiting Carcassonne, Foix and Mirepoix. The room badly needed decorating, there was a TV (French only), no hairdryer. It's also a restaurant/bar, Didier the Manager is very pleasant, he is the Chef, we had 2 evening meals which were excellent, couldn't fault the cooking or portion... More

My wife and I ate here recently. The experience was quite enjoyable and the food was excellent. The dishes reflect the local cuisine quite nicely and many of the ingredients are locally sourced. There is also an extensive list of local wines that are highlighted by their postal codes so that you can identify exactly where they are from......a very... More

This is the worst Hotel I stayed at during a 3 week tour of France. I was here with a bike group. It is really the only hotel in Chalabre. The town looks like its dying & half the buildings are vacant. The showers were lukewarm & the food was medicore at best. The attitude of the woman that runs... More

We really enjoyed our stay here: Didier was charming and did everything possible to make us comfortable. We very much enjoyed dinner in the terrace and had a good night's rest in our spotlessly clean room. Excellent value!

I've been visiting this restaurant for more than 12 years and the only time i've ever been disappointed is when it is closed. Fresh food, locally sourced wherever possible by the experienced managing couple who really know their trade. The menu is varied and superbly cooked following the regional cuisine with a few extras! It certainly helps if you can... More

It did not matter that the food at this place was good, the attitude of the woman there was appalling, she does not deserve our well earned cash being spent at her place. Do not go.We will certainly be telling everyone this, she needs to change her attitude.
