We spent nearly a week in this great place on Inle Lake, for a number of reasons. Of course there's the lake itself, one of the most beautiful in the world if you ask me. And then there was the beautifully wooden cabin we stayed in; it was exactly right. Big enough to wile away the day, small enough to make you feel cosy and comfortable. Views over the water are default.
The (young) staff is one of the other reasons to stay longer than planned; sweet people who'll do anything to make you feel at home. This is Myanmar in a nutshell.
Locally there's lots of stuff to do: amazing markets that rotate around the lake, pagodas and temples and of course the famed fishermen, who still fish in the way of their forefathers. Staff can help you with getting there and away. They also have a nice pool for those other days, when cocktails seem like a better idea ;)

One thing: it's a busy lake sometimes, and the boats have outboard diesel motors. I gotta say that we didn't mind; we are guests in an area where real people live real lives. It's not my place to be annoyed. But if you're prone to this kind of disturbance you could ask when the market is close to the resort (every 8 days or so), and decide to go before or after that date. They also have earplugs or cabins more in the back if you ask. Anyway, we basically just registered the sound and went on with our lives. It's up to you. One day, I'm sure, electric motors will take over the diesel slurpers, also for environmental reasons.

Enjoy!

We stayed in shew Inn tha for two nights. The resort is located far from nyanugshwe bus stop. If you take JJ bus from Mandalay, it will drop you here at around 530 am. From here, take a tuk tuk that will drop you to bus stand and from bus stands, you need to take a boat to reach the resort. The boat will cost you about 25 thousand kyat (after some bargaining) . The boat ride is about an hour long and inadvertently we got to see sunrise. Once we reached resort, the staff was pleasant, took us to our hut. Each room is in the form of a wooden hut. Warm water, pool side, bar etc are very good. Breakfast, if not included in room tariff, will cost you USD 10 each and will have a decent European style breakfast. The hotel also arranges for boats to NS, floating market, jumping cats monastery and other locations. The staff is polite and helpful. We went in Feb and early.morning, the weather becomes a tad cold. Hence the rooms also had a heater. Overall a lovely experience staying here. Though, it's far from main city and if one has a flight to catch from heho airport, better leave early because it's one hour boat journey from resort to city.

We were blown away by the charm of this place. It is a fair hike of taxi and boat ride (1.5-2 hours), but so are most places on the lake. We paid $35USD each way, organised prior to arrival via Agoda app, plus an extra $10 to enter the lake. You can hire a guide through the hotel reception for day tours around the lake. The place itself was very lovely, with great character. We found it to be very clean and comfortable, enjoying an indoor and outdoor shower. The only downsides were (as mentioned in other reviews) the noise at night/early morning, although the reception will give you earplugs. Also the food was a bit mediocre. The restaurant would benefit from some soft music playing and better lighting for more ambience. Overall thought it was a beautiful property with an unbeatable location for a lake experience!

We loved this place! We arrived late due to a flight delay. The restaurant was closed, but they opened it just for us to have dinner!!! That’s service!!! Our room and deck were beautiful. Sunday happy hour by the pool was especially wonderful!

We loved the Shwe Inn as it was away from city area. Lovely sunrise view from our bungalow. Resort is right on a well used water artery. Means going and coming are easy. Also some boats have loud motors when passing. This was not a problem at night - very quiet.

Last minute promotion which puts the room and the hotel at an excellent value for money. Anyway, the hotel, room and restaurant are very good. The setting is calm and magnificent. Noisy in the morning (nearby boat street).

I simply cannot understand how someone would not fall in love with this hotel. If you are married to your cell phone and can't live without constant high speed internet, do NOT go here. However, if you want to check out and tune in to nature and tranqulity, be prepared to be wowed.

The good: The hotel is a 20 minute boat ride from the airport and you get to see lovely scenery and great photographs to be taken on the ride. The beds are cozy, clean with gauzy mosquito nets around them. Each room has a subtle theme based on the Buddhist Zodiac. I was in the owl room (door knocker was an owl, the mirror had a small wooden owl carved into it, etc.). Very tasteful.

We were just a short ride away from markets and villages to visit with our tour group. Anne, the owner, was more than accommodating to help us find the best places to go and get us reliable boat drivers.

Huge bathrooms with a great outdoor shower and an indoor bathtub with a private toilet. Lots of closet space and luggage areas. The porch has two chairs and table which are very comfortable to watch the sunset over the mountains. You fall asleep to the lapping of the water and awake the fisherman's boats leaving for their morning catch.

The bad: The internet was slow but it did work in the business center. There are only 2 computers. I honestly didn't use it for the 4 days we were there though because I was really glad to escape it. The food service was slow but when it arrived it was great! The alcohol is expensive.

The ugly: none.

We stayed at Shwe Inn Tha Floating Resort for the Christmas holiday. The staff were very friendly and tried to accomodate all your needs. The owner seemed to treat their staff very well as the staff seemed very happy to do their jobs and be part of the resort. The rooms are very nice considering you're in the middle of lake surrounded by floating gardens and villages on the water. It's quite the unique experience. We really enjoyed their food and thought it was a great value for the price you paid. They put on a great Christmas party with a local band playing a floating raft in the middle of water area. The food and atmosphere was superb. We ate lunch one day at Inle Princess and thought that Shwe Inn Tha had better food (with better value) and huge portions. The only negative is the fact that there is a major waterway (like highway for motor boats) that is beside the hotel. Unfortunately in the early hours of the morning the noisy lawnmower-like boats go by starting as early as 6 am. It is quiet between 9 pm till about 6 am. My only recommendation would be that the hotel considers a no motor (and just paddle by) rule in the vicinity of the hotel. The hotel supplied us with ear plugs which definitely helped solve the problem.

We were looking to keep thing local....this hotel was perfect! The owner and every single employee are all Burmese and incredibly warm, kind, and hospitable! Getting to the hotel was an experience unto itself - via motorized canoe. You truly managed to see life on Inle Lake....and depending how open you were to the people, you could experience the local charm too!
The hotel itself is simple and basic - like the Burmese people - those looking for western 5-star really should not be travelling.....travel is about cultures, people and integrating and learning....if you're looking for a hamburger, just don't leave home and ruin it for the rest of us!
The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and the food was great!
We met and got along so well with the owner that she took us to her ancestoral home, toured us around personally and we managed to experience the generoristy and warmth of the local people. It was intriguing to see what Burma was like in its glory days....and still is through the hearts of her people!
If you want a piece of zen heaven - this is certainly the place for you.....no phones, no TV, minimal distraction by our electronic age, but an experience and peace that cannot be found in an international setting!
