We were blown away by the charm of this place. It is a fair hike of taxi and boat ride (1.5-2 hours), but so are most places on the lake. We paid $35USD each way, organised prior to arrival via Agoda app, plus an extra $10 to enter the lake. You can hire a guide through the hotel reception for day tours around the lake. The place itself was very lovely, with great character. We found it to be very clean and comfortable, enjoying an indoor and outdoor shower. The only downsides were (as mentioned in other reviews) the noise at night/early morning, although the reception will give you earplugs. Also the food was a bit mediocre. The restaurant would benefit from some soft music playing and better lighting for more ambience. Overall thought it was a beautiful property with an unbeatable location for a lake experience!

We spent nearly a week in this great place on Inle Lake, for a number of reasons. Of course there's the lake itself, one of the most beautiful in the world if you ask me. And then there was the beautifully wooden cabin we stayed in; it was exactly right. Big enough to wile away the day, small enough to make you feel cosy and comfortable. Views over the water are default. The (young) staff is one of the other reasons to stay longer than planned; sweet people who'll do anything to make you feel at home. This is Myanmar in a nutshell. Locally there's lots of stuff to do: amazing markets that rotate around the lake, pagodas and temples and of course the famed fishermen, who still fish in the way of their forefathers. Staff can help you with getting there and away. They also have a nice pool for those other days, when cocktails seem like a better idea ;) One thing: it's a busy lake sometimes, and the boats have outboard diesel motors. I gotta say that we didn't mind; we are guests in an area where real people live real lives. It's not my place to be annoyed. But if you're prone to this kind of disturbance you could ask when the market is close to the resort (every 8 days or so), and decide to go before or after that date. They also have earplugs or cabins more in the back if you ask. Anyway, we basically just registered the sound and went on with our lives. It's up to you. One day, I'm sure, electric motors will take over the diesel slurpers, also for environmental reasons. Enjoy!

We stayed in shew Inn tha for two nights. The resort is located far from nyanugshwe bus stop. If you take JJ bus from Mandalay, it will drop you here at around 530 am. From here, take a tuk tuk that will drop you to bus stand and from bus stands, you need to take a boat to reach the resort. The boat will cost you about 25 thousand kyat (after some bargaining) . The boat ride is about an hour long and inadvertently we got to see sunrise. Once we reached resort, the staff was pleasant, took us to our hut. Each room is in the form of a wooden hut. Warm water, pool side, bar etc are very good. Breakfast, if not included in room tariff, will cost you USD 10 each and will have a decent European style breakfast. The hotel also arranges for boats to NS, floating market, jumping cats monastery and other locations. The staff is polite and helpful. We went in Feb and early.morning, the weather becomes a tad cold. Hence the rooms also had a heater. Overall a lovely experience staying here. Though, it's far from main city and if one has a flight to catch from heho airport, better leave early because it's one hour boat journey from resort to city.

Last minute promotion which puts the room and the hotel at an excellent value for money. Anyway, the hotel, room and restaurant are very good. The setting is calm and magnificent. Noisy in the morning (nearby boat street).

The good: You are in a bungalow with a private balcony over the water of beautiful Inle Lake with gorgeous views in every direction. The bad: For the price I did not expect to find curtain rods hanging off the wall, electric sockets that didn't work and a bathroom with such low water flow that i would have preferred a garden hose, like by a lot. The restaurant: so-so. Attentive staff but the food was not terribly flavorful and had few regional dishes - when I asked if i could hire a boat to take me to a local restaurant - the front desk staff basically said "no. Our restaurant is very good." tours: they have a price list and tours available at the desk - but there are a lot of "extra" stops and kick back places like the boat maker and the silk weaver (okay i bought a scarf - but still) As a whole I felt hungry and trapped. So why the three stars? Because my boat driver was as sweet as could be, and housekeeping arrived one afternoon with a handful of oranges they were insistent I take, and your are in a strikingly beautiful place. Note: airport pick up from HeHo takes 45 minutes to town, and then a full hour on the boat. So maybe go the bathroom before you get on that boat.

We loved the Shwe Inn as it was away from city area. Lovely sunrise view from our bungalow. Resort is right on a well used water artery. Means going and coming are easy. Also some boats have loud motors when passing. This was not a problem at night - very quiet.

The hotel is in a beautiful setting on the lake and wonderful to relax there and pass the time. Reception were accommodating, allowing us to check out 1 hour early. We only stayed one night and a few issues which are worth nothing - upon arrival and check-in they mentioned they did not have a baby cot (we checked before arriving) and said we had to pay $30 USD for an extra bed (may have been a misunderstanding due to the language barrier). Was soon rectified when I checked for confirmation on email. - toilet was not flushing on arrival. Housekeeping soon sorted this out but problem reoccurred which meant I needed to put my hand in the cistern in the middle of the night to try and rectify ! - we were locked in our room for a period of time - not sure what happened but you can bolt the doors from the outside and someone did so which meant we were stuck. - latch fell on the inside of the door when we shut it which meant we couldn’t get back into the room after dinner and had to force the door. Others have mentioned, but worth noting the noisy boats passing outside the hotel early in the morning (free ear plugs provided !). Clearly that didn’t work for the little one who was up very early ! (and so were we !) We travelled with a toddler who’s very active and due to all the water hazards, we only stayed one night. It was a good call as there are better suited places in Nyaung Shwe. Pool was very cold due to the climate so made it tough to go swimming. Quick tip for hotel - worth giving an intro upon arrival on tour options as by the next morning we had missed the opportunity to see the floating markets nearby.

We stayed 5 nights, which is unusual, wanting to recuperate energy in a long trip, and to explore slowly Inle lake and surroundings. The hotel respected our request of lake view with sunset angle, this was wonderful. The bungalow is very clean, comfortable and enjoyable with a balcony, outdoor shower etc.. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The huge negative point is the local buddist monastery who took the decision years ago,to propagate their music and chanting through very loud speakers between 4to 5 am every day... this is not Buddhism, it's a political propaganda, very invasive, and even worse than muezzin in Muslim countries. Alcohol on the menu is 3 times the price of anywhere else in Myanmar, they have a captive audience since there's no where to go unless you rent a boat... Thinking carefully about the pros and cons and reading all reviews will help you choose the best hotel for you,on a wonderful lake which is also a tourist trap...

Dear SandraGinkgo, I am delighted to hear that you have had an enjoyable stay sharing your compliments on our rooms and staff experience. Your kind words will be shared with our team in recognition of their efforts to provide a great experience to you and all our guests. Hope to understand, our resort was built in the middle of the water thus have to use a boat wherever you go. Every traveler knows about that. For the rest negative point, somehow you can see on the positive side. Sincerely yours, S.I.T Team
