Viewpoint Ecolodge is truly a luxurious stay in Nyaung Shwe. We were kindly upgraded to an even better room than the one originally booked, and the amenities and facilities were truly outstanding. The breakfast was also very generous ( perhaps a bit too generous/wasteful) and the floating pool was a great addition to the serene atmosphere of the resort. The resort was able to arrange a great day trip on the lake, which we all enjoyed. They also arranged a trip to a few neighbouring villages and attractions, which didn’t go so well, due to the driver not having a clue where he’s going. This was something that I believe the hotel staff figured out, because we were not spoken to upon our arrival from the trip, which was uncharacteristic to the otherwise friendly and chatty hotel staff. Overall a great stay!

The hotel is located just on the edge of town. The location suited us perfectly for a short two night stay in a cottage suite with a balcony overlooking the water! We enjoyed cocktails and morning coffee on the cottage balcony. Friendly Helpful staffs helped us with an early check in and welcome drink which chose to be an ice cold beer. The room was quiet, spacious, comfortable and clean – The Wi-Fi connection was unfortunately very weak to basically nil in the room. The resort offered their Tuk Tuk to drive us to and pick us up at local restaurants and spas – Cheaper than a regular local Tuk Tuk and no need for negotiation or overcharging issues that tend to plague Tuk Tuk users. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant except for the complimentary morning breakfasts – The hotel restaurants limited dinner menu was expensive and offered mostly an expensive & short set menu – The local restaurants we availed were a tenth of the price and offered local tasty fare and a chance to interact with the local culture & cuisine! We used the hotel Tuk Tuk to visit Frangipani Spa one afternoon for a fantastic Massage by friendly local gals – We chose an outside spa mainly due to the person running the Hotel Spa being quite unfriendly and the spa being somewhat expensive to boot. The pool looks appealing from both the web site and on arrival – While we were originally attracted to the hotel for having a pool, it is impossible to swim in and only suitable to get wet. The weeds under the pool liner have pushed the bottom of the pool to within inches of the top – walking on the liner would push the liner & weeds down temporarily. There is also a nice sun deck and covered relaxing area by the pool. We hope the hotel has a future plan in place to make the pool useable! Overall we had an enjoyable stay enhanced by some awesome staffs who were more than willing to assist and were always jovial and pleasant – We wish we had been able to stay longer. Thank You everyone!

Accommodation is on a lake, so watch out for mosquitoes, never seen so many, all times of day, even inside the hotel. Breakfast was excellent, although on the first day they forgot about us and had not prepared any breakfast for us as they were not informed by reception that we had booked in. After a few minutes they did come up with a very mediocre breakfast and realised that it feel short and then spent the next few days making it up to us with exceptional service from the restaurant manager. They also forgot to make our room up on the first day, so we had to remind them. Didn't eat in the hotel as the food on offer was expensive, and not at all to our taste. Did have drinks in the hotel bar, which were very nice and the barman was very friendly. Lots of places within a very short walk to eat and drink. No fridge in the room, but they did provide one when asked and at no extra charge. The swimming pool in my opinion was unusable, as it was an inflated pool which had a little too much movement on it for me to chance standing on the edge. Also there were just ordinary chairs to sit on and it was obviously an afterthought.

This undoutedly the best place to stay in Lake Inle in Burma. The rooms are spacey and well laid out, the attention to detail is amazing. You must visit the pool, and the spa, the massages were really very very good. Please note that breakfast is the absolute best I have ever eaten in the whole of Asia with a vast choice and wonderful service. The staff are all very pleasant and helpful, icluding the nice boatman who took us on the trip on the lake. Don't miss Viewpoint Ecolodge!

We toyed between choosing one of the 5* resort hotels around the lake and Viewpoint and were go glad we settled on this. The service was second to. One, rooms excellent and food was the best we have had in Myanmar. Try the 7 Shan tapas plate! The hotel had its own boat and tuk tuk drivers which were only fractionally more expensive than using the ones on the street and afar less hassle. The big plus is that we could sit on the shady, bougainvillea framed veranda and watch local life go by, lounge by pool area or visit the in house spa when we needed r & r but as we were right at the edge of town we could step into another world of street life, markets, temples etc and eat in town. It was lovely to have the choice to do both which we would not have got in the more sanitised ‘resort hotels’. As well as the must do day trip around the lake looking at lake life, one-legged fisherman and slightly too many craftsman at work and then selling their wares, we arranged a tuk tuk to take us up to a temple on the hill passing through rural life which we enjoyed. Will definitely be recommending viewpoint to friends and family

Thank you so much for your post. We recognise our Lodge in your description but please note that Viewpoint is located in Nyaungshwe and not in Kawthaung. Again, thank you!
