We LOVED this family! Monika and Joseph were the kindest and greatest hosts. You would think this was a 5 star hotel with the beautiful room, lovely bed, fantastic breakfast, and the most considerate and helpful people who truly cared about you running the whole show. Its true that they don't speak very much English but we managed to communicate very well, and their daughter Sonia who does speak perfect English was there for a few of the days we stayed. And the view from our room, the balcony! It was absolutely divine with the sun coming over the mountains... we never left there before 10 or 11 in the morning because it was such a pleasant family and such a wonderful place to be every morning. I can't thank them enough for the kindness and my special gift that Monika gave me. Made me cry, what dear dear people. Traveling is so much fun when you get to meet such wonderful people. Wish they came home with me. It would be great to start everyday that way.

A lovely warm and friendly place to stay. Nice breakfast. Very helpful hosts. Monika's English is very limited but son Simon's is very good which helped us when planning trips in the area. From here you can walk the promenade, a walk around the hills through apple orchards and vineyards, with a few cafes along the way. A great place with hosts who really care.

Pension is nice, clean and confortable. The hosts are nice and friendly. At breakfast all the guest gather like a big family.

I booked here by chance really as the accommodation in Merrano was alot more expensive. Though so glad I stumbled across it. Loved the little town and views of the Orchards and church.
Service was excellent - very homely and welcoming and happy to make recommendations.
Breakfast was fine - pleasant breakfast room
Rooms were a good size and very clean.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Pension Monika, location is absolutely quiet and beautiful. Monika will pick you up from nearby Merano station if you arrive by train.
My single room was so very nicely decorated, bright and comfortable, with a very good bathroom. The breakfast room faces the beautiful landscapes of Lagundo. Breakfast is ample with plenty of variety. The family very friendly and genuine and assisted me in so many ways whilst I was there. Always there are cakes and fruit in the foyer you may take to your room for a snack any time of day. The surrounding lanes will take you through vineyards and fruit orchards, and so many views to the valleys and hills. You will be given a card to use free on the buses and trains in the area and a free minibus operates regularly from Lagundo to Merano city. Such a lovely area and very comfortable accommodation.

This is a perfect location for visiting Merano and the apple orchards in the area. Although the owners of this charming small hotel do not speak much English, their warm welcome and desire to please more than compensated. We were fortunate that their son, Simon, was there part of our stay and he did a great job of interpreting for us. We have limited use of Italian or German, the two languages spoken in this region and he was a great help. Our room had a wonderful view from several directions and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the fog roll in over the mountains in the morning. Breakfasts were varied and generous and there was always helpful advice about dinners etc. We would highly recommend the Pension Monika and will stay there again if our travels take us anywhere near. The lift was an added bonus as was the free covered parking.

Monika and her husband were warm and accommodating hosts and made our family's (two parents and two college-age children) stay quite enjoyable. The private and common rooms were immaculate and tastefully furnished and decorated. The breakfast was varied and ample. The inn keepers were extremely knowledgeable about the local sights and hiking opportunities. A nice touch was the complimentary beverages we were offered upon arrival and the small gifts we were given as we departed. And when we had difficulty connecting to Internet, their college-age son, a computer science major, quickly fixed the problem

The Pension suited us very well. Close to Meran (Walking distance) and access to very reasonable Bus trips to surrounding areas.(Venice, Dolomiten etc. - Bus company picks up guests at their Pension!) Our landlords were the Best! and we could recommend this Pension highly. From all the other accommodations we stayed in during our 2 week trip to southern Germany and Italy this was by far the best. Our rental car was in a free and secure parking space, which we appreciated very much. Breakfast was more than we expected and again, by far the best of all the other places we stayed in.

The bus stop is just up and around the corner, maybe a 5 minute walk and that will take you to the train station in Merano, just a minor inconvenience waiting for the bus - two an hour. But if you're there to hike, you can't beat the location. Its already up in the hills overlooking Merano in the near distance and the walking trails are numbered and everywhere!"Read full review
