There are pros and cons to this place Set in extensive gardens that slope down the hill, the apartments are attractive and well presented. Spacious and excellent bathroom, and the room is well arranged. Beds are ok but mattresses are a wee bit hard. The terrace us great and there are washing lines set into the wall. Very handy on self catering. Car parking on site is excellent and you will definitely need a car in this area. Marina and Tassos are very welcoming and friendly, and work extremely hard to make you feel at home. However the location of the hotel is quite remote, the walk down to sea front is twenty to thirty minutes depending on your pace, and there are no cafés or shops until you get to the beach area. One coffee shop five minutes up the slip roads is good, but apart from that, all other cafés or places to eat are a taxi ride away. Buses are frequent but the main road is extremely busy and crossing it to access one of the stops is very challenging and not for people with any walking or mobility issues. Hersonissus is typical scruffy resort, I don't recommend it. The old town is much better and tavernas in the square are busy and great fun. The pool area in the hotel is disappointing as it is located by the reception/restaurant/bar area. It needs updating and the space round the pool is very limited, you're either in the blazing sun or stuck in the shade. No umbrellas are on offer. You're also close to the busy road which can be intrusive after a few hours. Not completely peaceful. The covered lounge area gives an excellent view of the area down to sea front. However the way the hotel has been built means that you get no views when you're in the bar/restaurant area. You need to go to end of the lounge to the large windows to get the view. I'd recommend this place as a base for walking holidays, or touring the eastern side of Crete by car. It's not adequate for a laze round the pool type holiday. Value for money is fine, and people were very friendly and welcoming. I'm sorry I didn't enjoy my time in Crete as much as I'd hoped.…
We love it here Marina and Tasos fantastic hosts great food lovely clean apartments completely chilled atmosphere nothing too much trouble everything is clean . Short walk to the beach beautiful views from the room .
From the moment we arrived to the day we left it was a fabulous relaxing holiday. I have been to many Greek islands and stayed in a variety of different accommodations , from basic to 5 star & Villa marina is basic accommodation but it is clean and has all your needs cared for by the wonderful owners. It is family run and they are so friendly and marina’s special menu every night is well worth staying in for. The walk to the beach is fine , we did hire a car for 3 days which was excellent value and we got to see a bit more of this lovely island . My only negative was Heraklion airport! We last came to Crete back in 2019 on our honeymoon and tbh I thought the airport was bad then , but with covid etc the past 2 years you would have thought they would have improved things , but unfortunately not , the toilets were a disgrace , no seats, no doors. No soap , no antibacterial gel !!! Too many people allowed through at once to cope It really should have been improved and it has put us off going back to the lovely island .. even the smaller Greek islands I’ve visited have better facilities.. we spent 3 hours sitting on a dirty floor and 30 minutes waiting by the runway !!! No air , no water very distressing .…
We returned from a week at Villa Marina and loved it. The family are so welcoming and helpful , from young to older members. Great location .. short walk to beach. The speciality menu ever night is amazing. Freshly cooked with fresh ingredients using clay oven and rotisserie. Plenty of sun ! We also didnt realise how large Crete is as an island. Plenty to see and do. Car hire helps. We also liked the fact that many customers staying had returned many times. Thankyou all for a lovely stay.
The facilities were basic as you would expect, yet the service is five star. Food is cooked fresh from Marina herself, there is a bbq once a week. I stayed for 14 nights with my friends and although the hotel area is quiet and peaceful, a taxi to hersonissos was only €10. This is a more lively area with many things going on. Beach takes 10 minutes if you walk fast, 15-20 if not. Very scenic area. Taxi into malia cost around €25 euros, but I was with friends so this was split between us. Food is amazing and the pool was refreshing. It was very hot and I didn’t want to pay for air conditioning, but to solve this I slept with the door open to let the sea breeze in as I was on the top floor. Staff are wonderful and treat you like family. Air conditioning costs €10 per night, but the food is cheap and fresh so this is nothing to complain about. I would return here as it was a stunning hotel in a beautiful area with enjoyable food and company. Overall couldn’t really fault anything.…
Had an amazing stay for my birthday. Marina and her family could not do enough for you. Beautiful, modern and clean apartments with amazing views. Marina makes daily specials and they tasted absolutely fantastic, we ate these every night. Quiet, peaceful nights sat relaxing with a few drinks at the bar. Loved our stay.
This is a real family ran hotel, the staff are lovely and made us feel welcome from the minute we checked in until we left. The food is very good and the fruit and vegetables are grown in the garden of the hotel The bar is well stocked and there’s always a friendly person there to serve you. I would definitely come again
What a fabulous place. A very friendly atmospherel & the owners will do anything for you. We are here at the moment & couldn't have asked for a nicer holiday. The rooms are spacious & have everything you need. The apartments are right next to a local bus route, being able to travel to lots of places. Drinks & food are a good price too. Comfortable beds & quiet in the evenings, to get a good sleep. Beautiful see views from the balcony. Modern bathrooms, with a lot of hot water, not matter what time of day. Doesn't matter what time you get up, there are always sunbeds available. Lovely & quiet location & it's another world from the rush of life at home. A hidden gem of a place & not to be missed. Thank You for making us feel very welcome. We will return. Definitely recommend for a laid back holiday.…
I would highly recommend this villa / hotel.. The staff are very very polite and you couldn't ask for anything better they help you whenever you want anything they cook food on request it is absolutely amazing. I would 100-percent go back to this place It's about 10 minutes from the beach and it's only a 5-minute drive away from hersonissos town. The people that live here have got their own fruits and vegetables grow in which they use on their meals and I can honestly say it's amazing. The Pool is very nice very nice and warm and it's very clean also
I have just returned from Villa Marina September 2021 so just a few comments while they are fresh in the memory ,the rooms I stayed in were both clean and basic with identical furniture ,the bathrooms were very modern ,lots of hot water even first thing in the morning with very good water pressure in shower. All nicely tiled walls and floor ,not huge but adequate. The main room also had very nice tiled floor with double glazed french doors opening onto a reasonable sized balcony ,the french doors also had a roller shutter on the outside .The bed was comfortable the room was clean ,enough cutlery and saucepans for a basic meal . The surroundings outside for me were very picturesque with orange pomegranate trees and grapes etc. If this is what you want you will enjoy it ,there are a few problems at Villa Marina one of which is noise from the road which is worse nearer the pool which where the wifi is,no wifi in room. The road is a main road carrying trucks buses ,noisy moterbikes. The other problem is animal noise ,sometimes at night sometimes in the morning dogs barking cockerel crowing ,I moved room because of it. The weather was very hot while away but could not use balcony in afternoons as there was no shade to speak of.When you have hot stuffy nights as well it would have been nice to use the aircon but at 10 euros a night which is double what most charge I declined.I ate once at Marinas ,first night which again was expensive ,I also bought water from Marina which was 3 euros for 6 bottles ,in the supermarket It is 1.20 euros . My first night at Marinas I arrived late no fault of my own ,the airplane had a computer problem and had to be changed .Why Marina didn't didn't phone easy jet to find out what the delay was or track the flight on the computer I don't no so they went to bed and I had to ring the bell and get Marinas husband out of bed to let me in unfortunately his English is non existent so at 3.00 am their time I was shown the room in Greek of which I don't speak a word.Marinas English is also limited so communication could be difficult. All in all would I return to Marinas ,No I would not ,I could go on but I think this sums up my feelings about the accommodation and land lady .…
