When asked by a friend to recommend accommodation in the Dordogne we were reminded of our fantastic stay at Balcon en Foret. The property, hosts & area made for one of our most memorable holidays. Total French charm

This B&B was better than advertised! We stayed here for five nights and had a fantastic time. The food was great and Sandra and Bouduin were wonderful host with great knowledge of the area. The whole atmosphere was definitely French Country!

we just returned from an 8 daystay in the St Augustus suite. It had everything, including a woodburner stove that was wonderful to come back to on a cold october evening, after having eaten yet again at the highly recommendable La Petite Tonnelle in the village. The tranquility of the place meant having to use an alarm clock to wake up in time for breakfast before 10am! Sandra and Bauduion were perfect hosts who went out of their way to make our stay perfect, from the variety of the breakfasts to the wines in the room at very reasonable prices, to making restaurant recommendations and reservations for us. The little balcony overlooking the fields was a great place for an afternoon siesta, with nothing but the sounds of birds. They even put out blankets for us as sometimes the air was a little cold later in the afternoons. Go there, but you need to book early as there's others that know about this little hideaway!!

My husband and I stayed 5 nights in the St Hubertus suite. I don't think there is enough space to mention every wonderful thing about Balcon-en-Foret. Our suite was spotlessly clean, very spacious, had a working fire stove in the bedroom (which was filled with wood ready for us to light each evening), had beautiful antique furniture, plenty of storage space, quality linens, excellent water pressure in the bath tub/shower, a regular fridge and a wine fridge, coffee/tea facilities and complimentary fast wifi. Our outdoor patio overlooked the beautiful country side, we sat there every night before dinner with a glass of local wine, under the mesmerizing spell of tranquility. The amazing breakfasts each morning were plentiful and very diverse, many items home made by our hosts. Balcon-en-Foret is located in a very peaceful country setting, about a 10 min walk from Beynac along a beautiful, very easy to follow path through the woods. A flashlight is provided for the walk back after dinner in town. Our hosts, Sandra and Baudouin were very very nice, personable, very helpful with what to see in the area. Each has put their heart and soul into the entire property and it certainly shows, pictures do not do it justice. We know everyone has different likes and dislikes, however Balcon-en-Foret ticked all of the boxes for us. In all of our travels, that has never happened before.

Amazing and charming place at a walking distance from one of the most beautiful village of France. This a little paradise retreat for any couple looking for a romantic get away. We had an amazing time staying in this quiet a very tastefully renovated and decorated old house.
